Brett Baier's All Star Panel Comments on NRA ad
Fox News Brett Bair Special Report ^ | 1/16/2013 | Brett Baier

Posted on 01/16/2013 5:07:22 PM PST by FR_addict

FoxNews Bret Baier’s All Star panel, Charles Krauthammer, Juan Williams, and Steve Hayes, all called the NRA ad a mistake, vile and repugnant. I guess they all believe that the elite should have armed protection for their children, but not for ours.

Krauthammer even went so far as to say, of course the President's children should be protected because of who the President is and out kids don't need that type of protection.

What about kids of policemen, judges, FBI, ATF, correctional officers, etc? Their children may be targets because of who their parents are. Don't they deserve armed protection too?

The NRA did not call for taking away the right of the President to protect his children, but to give our kids the same right and not to make them sitting ducks in a gun free zone.

Let’s analyze this whole RINO reaction. They say “Of course the president’s kids need protection!”. I agree.

So- isn’t Obama’s whole point that now other kids need protection? That there is a threat worthy of national action?

So now tell me why there is a difference in the solution?

Sorry fellow freepers, the ad was stupid. I am 100 percent NRA, but comparing the risk to a President’s kids to ours is ridiculous. We risk the random crime, his kids have targets for the whole world on their backs.

You can risk your kids if you want, but my kids deserve and WILL GET all the protection I can provide them!!!

I thought the ad was spot on and the pundits were way off. If Bammy wants to surround himself with human shields the way all dictators do, then all’s fair as far as I’m concerned.

We’re gonna have to realize we have to fight fire with fire with this guy. The media won’t like it and that’s fine. The way the WH reacted tells me the NRA hit a nerve.

Keep hitting.

Police are at our schools to give parking tickets to the moms during the chaotic pick up hour. At the high school, they are patroling the kids cars looking for illegal stuff that they can haul them in for. Sometimes they bring the sniffing dogs. It’s one of the top schools in the USA. Makes me mad sometimes.

What I don’t understand is how they are saying the polls are showing more people are agreeing with the proposed measures. How is it that this does not compute with the NRA has 250,000 more member ship and gun stores shelves are being cleaned out and lines are around the block at gun shows.
This is just like before the election, all signs were it was going to be a GOP blowout and the the fraud began.

"Obama is ridiculing the NRA suggestion just because it was made by the NRA."

I think his aim is to disarm the American people and used Sandy Hook as the crises to start implementing his agenda. As Rahm said never let a crisis go to waste.

Kauthammer even said the President was sincere in his attempt to do something. That is absolutely ridiculous. If he wanted to protect the kids, he would have insisted on arming either the teachers that want to be armed or have armed guards in our schools.

Everyone knows that taking away guns from law abiding citizens is not going to stop the terrorists, the crazies, and the criminals.

I didn’t see the ad, but assume from the conversation that it is in regard to the Secret Service. And I would agree with you that of course the kids (and the president) are at a greater risk of being targeted - IF they did not have the Secret Service.

But our kids are no less worthy of the protection that we as parents want to provide them. Regarding the high profile of the president, there was a guy from the History channel that does the “Conspiracy History”? thing (like the Masonic Temple, Lincoln Assasination, etc.) He just came out with a new book called “The Fifth Assassin”. And he did a lot of research on the four previous assassins, as his fictional one is trying to mimic and follow in their footsteps.

Anyway - when he heard about the Aurora Theater and Newtown shooting people were saying “what has this world come to...”, and he thought “pretty much the same as before.” Young men, loners, wanting/needing to be heard and make a “name” for themselves. In the past it was “shoot a president”. But with security so much tighter around the president they resort to other, easier targets.

So I wonder, while the risk to any one particular child or person might be less than the president - the risk to us collectively by some nutball trying to make a “name” for himself is now higher than the risk to the president?

They will defend themselves by saying that the ad was using class warfare as the basis of its appeal. I heard the ad. It was brilliant BECAUSE it used Obama’s class warfare argument.

The NRA is definitely appealing to conservative gun owners, but it’s also trying to tap into those self-defense democrats and independents who too often are Limbaugh’s “low information voters”.

So, that ad in particular would appeal to the masses, and that is what makes it brilliant.

And that is why the liberal media is appalled and why the Mitt Media is tut-tutting.

I am very shocked that you fell for this. It’s not just about the President’s kids - there are millions of liberals who have kids in protected schools...and thousands of liberals who have private armed guards - and all of them are in support of this...and just the HELL with anyone who thinks all of their kids are more important than any other citizens. You really fell off the wagon on this one pal....

The NRA ad was not comparing risks but comparing value. Obama sends his kids to a school that would have armed guards even if his kids didn’t go there. The armed guards are there to protect the kids of regular rich people along with the children of Obama and all the other super elites.

If you think Obama’s kids deserve better protection from terrorists or crazy people than your own kids, then you shouldn’t be a parent.

We have armed guards protecting banks and jewelry stores, but Obama and the libs want OUR kids to be unprotected in so called gun free zones while they send their children to armed fortresses.

Their kids are not more valuable than mine. If gund are protecting their children, then guns should be there to protect mine.

Except that the school where Obama's kids go had armed resource officers before the O'Kids enrolled at the school and it will have armed security at the school long after they leave. The point of the ad is to remind the public that when the NRA suggested a few weeks ago that our schools should employ armed personnel -- just like they do at the rich, private schools where the limousine liberals send their kids -- Obama and his peeps attacked the NRA and its members as dangerous and stupid.

Rupert Murdoch is pleased I am sure (considering his gun grabbing ideology).

I am thinking they will be purging Hannity soon because of his adamant support of the Second Amendment. His show is the only one I watch on Fox now (unless Beckel or Williams is on it and then I turn off Fox). Hannity’s radio show today was excellent.

So true Bulba-
Obama chose to be President which comes with inherent risks and yes-his kids need protection-and they will NOT be targeted because everyone knows they are protected...

But these children just went to school with homework and lunches-expecting to yawn thru math and play with their friends at recess-just simply, it doesn’t matter who their parents are or what they do, they ALL have targets on their backs because they are not protected- by anyone with a weapon who can return fire...

A teacher shielded 6 children using her body to protect them; she was killed as were the 6 she was trying to save-but if she could have protected them with a gun, things may have been different....
it is so stunningly simple that the elitists cannot fathom it.

Someone needs to point out to these knuckleheads that one of the key ideas of Americanism was that we did not bow to kings, that the citizen was the equal of his representatives all the way up to and including the President.

Having special laws for the governmental elite is a dangerous precedent and a vast step backwards for the idea of America.

The Obamamites love trotting out the kids when they think it will score points. Then when someone calls them on it, they act appalled, outraged, high dudgeon, et cetera and so forth and so on.
The MSM then carries their water, the GOP-e’rs recant, confess, `mea culpa!’ (sob), profound apologies, Boner has a good cry—rinse, repeat.

The GOP-e is the left’s straightman, the Generals to their Globetrotters vaudeville act. Next time they need help, I’ll gladly hit them with a stream from a seltzer bottle.

The elite are fairly consistent. I remember Juan a couple of weeks ago talking to Sean Hannity. When Sean mentioned he had a CCP, Juan immediately stated that he understood why a man with Sean’s public persona would need to have arms.

Kinda like in the 90’s when one of Ted Kennedy’s body guards was thrown off a plane for carrying a weapon, the libs all chimed in that any one of Teddy’s persona should have armed body guards but no one else should have.

IOW, If you’re an elite, then you can be protected but if you’re just a commoner, then you don’t count

The more I think about your post (and others) on the terrorists, the more I think you have an excellent point. The terrorist took planes and rammed them into buildings. Now that they know how soft a target our schools are, the more likely they are to go after our kids.

And Obama wants to disarm us further.

You are completely wrong! The president’s kids aren’t the victims of mass shootings because they Do have the protection. It’s the kids of everyday citizens who are the victims. That’s why they are EQUALLY deserving of the same protection. When was the last mass shooting you saw at Sidwell School? Huh? It doesn’t matter whether the threat is from international terrorists or from some lunatic! WOW! You can’t see that?

Whether one wishes to admit it or not there are types of military patrols currently in our nation's towns. Soon drones will fill our skies to do more patrolling. It may come a time when one may have to be afraid of who is patrolling on the ground and who is commanding the drone overhead in the sky. To believe otherwise, for all Americans, is to believe humans are not prone to be humans. Everyone loves everyone, and nobody wishes harm to anyone. It does not work that way, and tyrants want one thing .... control. Seriously, I am certain you are a student of history. History reveals the past and the present, and offers a glimpse of our future.
