Yeah, I am short and slow, but white. I would like to play for some major bucks.
To: driftdiver
You mean like "Touchdown" Tommy Vardell? Yeah, great white running back.
To: ConservativeStatement
I protest! There's not one albino, Finn, or KKK Kleagle who is a head coach in the NFL. Affirmative action for extremely white people!
To: GeronL
I don’t recall that. Various sites state “it was first observed on January 20, 1986.”

Also, 8 of the NFL coaches have the same first name, Mike, as does the reporter. Obviously, Mike is getting favorable treatment.
No female coaches.
No Cross gender coaches.
etc etc blah blah!!!!

>>Political correctness has already killed most of the nation. Might as well kill our favorite pastimes as well.
The quest for the “next great black quarterback” has destroyed the Jackosnville Jaguars. They finally gave up that dream last year, but the damage is already done and it will take years for the team to recover.

The black head coach affirmative action hiring fetish of the last few years didn’t work out so well for most of the teams who tried it. Most of those guys have been fired, and teams are returning to searching for the best talent first and foremost. Which doesn’t explain why Rex Ryan still has a job, but... :)

Mike Tomlin has worked out so well for the Steelers. Love the "Deer in the headlights - it is what it is" press conferences.
Steelers used to have a "best available athlete" policy in the draft. Now it's the "best available black athlete."

I’m willing to wager the NFL front office will force a few teams to hire a black head coach with an agreement that successful teams will make up the falling revenue for the affirmative action teams.

The advent of the “read-option” offense paired with the “spread” offense will provide employment for many college QBs that should be running backs but, coincidentally, can throw a tight spiral. RGIII and Kapernick (sp?) are of the mold.
The average QB career expectancy in the NFL will trend downward and plateau at 5 seasons. QBs will become expendable; teams will be drafting cookie-cutter QBs every year. Some teams may carry 3 or even 4 on their regular season roster all capable of running the offense without skipping a beat.
The good news? QB contracts will be devalued.

"While there has been full compliance with the interview requirements of the Rooney Rule and we wish the new head coaches and general managers much success, the hiring results this year have been unexpected and reflect a disappointing lack of diversity. The Rooney Rule has been a valuable tool in expanding diversity and inclusion in hiring practices, but there is more work to do, especially around increasing and strengthening the pipeline of diverse candidates for head coach and senior football executive positions. We have already started the process of developing a plan for additional steps that will better ensure more diversity and inclusion on a regular basis in our hiring results. We look forward to discussing these steps with our advisers to ensure that our employment, development and equal opportunity programs are both robust and successful." Translation, the quality of head coaches and executive positions will soon degrade. With these idiotic systems in place even the most qualified minority will increasingly be viewed as a diversity hire.

Hi PYE!
I blame the Rooneys. Not the old man, the younger generation.
We suffered with that young, drug addicted, rumored to be homosexual, black quarterback for how many years?!
Meanwhile we passed on quality QB's and let talent (no matter the skin color) at all positions slip away.
The Rooney Rule killed the Steelers if not the NFL!

Though I love football, I’m getting pretty tired of the NFL and how they kiss liberal butt.
We now have politically correct tackling. If helmets clash when two players go down it’s a penalty on the defense.
If they keep this stuff up they are going to ruin this great game.
