Requires owners of existing assault weapons to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act (NFA). The NFA imposes a $200 tax per firearm, and requires an owner to submit photographs and fingerprints to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), to inform the BATFE of the address where the firearm will be kept, and to obtain the BATFEs permission to transport the firearm across state lines. Prohibits the transfer of assault weapons. Owners of other firearms, including those covered by the NFA, are permitted to sell them or pass them to heirs. However, under Feinsteins new bill, assault weapons would remain with their current owners until their deaths, at which point they would be forfeited to the government. Prohibits the domestic manufacture and the importation of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The 1994 ban allowed the importation of such magazines that were manufactured before the ban took effect. Whereas the 1994 ban protected gun owners from errant prosecution by making the government prove when a magazine was made, the new ban includes no such protection. The new ban also requires firearm dealers to certify the date of manufacture of any >10-round magazine sold, a virtually impossible task, given that virtually no magazines are stamped with their date of manufacture. Targets handguns in defiance of the Supreme Court. The Court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment protects the right to have handguns for self-defense, in large part on the basis of the fact handguns are the type of firearm overwhelmingly chosen by American society for that lawful purpose. Semi-automatic pistols, which are the most popular handguns today, are designed to use detachable magazines, and the magazines are those that hold more than 10 rounds.

She still hasn’t formally introduced the bill yet.
Exactly, poll taxes are illegal because you can’t tax or charge someone for what is a right, then the democrats don’t want anyone to have to show a photo ID which is FREE to vote. My vote in Mississippi, according to our Secretary of State only counts .95% of a whole vote because of fraudelant voting. Now they want me to have to pay a prohibitive tax to own a firearm. Some of the new legislation concerning firearms I do believe in is in my tagline.
That poll tax angle you mentioned is brilliant. Thanks to be spread around on all the Pro 2nd websites.
The federal assault-weapons ban, scheduled to expire in September, is not responsible for the nations steady decline in gun-related violence and its renewal likely will achieve little, according to an independent study commissioned by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).
We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nations recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence, said the unreleased NIJ report, written by Christopher Koper, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
It is thus premature to make definitive assessments of the bans impact on gun violence. Should it be renewed, the bans effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement, said the report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times.
The report also noted that assault weapons were rarely used in gun crimes even before the ban.
as long as it makes Di-Fi FEEL good.
I know what you mean. A lot of guns must have fell in Mel’s hole.
