Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the Republican Party should abandon its efforts to curb voter participation through voter ID laws.

“Should we really have gone after reducing the turnout of voters in those places where we thought it would make a difference?” he told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, referring to November’s election.

“You have to appeal with policies and programs to these people who are going to be the leaders of our country in a generation,” Powell says.

WTH?! I don’t recall GOP trying to keep people from going to the voting booths but I do remember the Black Panthers standing in front of polling places with clubs in their hands. How they weren’t arrested is NOT beyond me with the current POTUS in office. It’s like the old lawyer trick of saying something false to give the appearance that it’s true or even possible when it wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Like why didn’t they arrest Judge Roberts for adopting children from South America when he’s listed as a sexual predator. Not true but makes ya think....

Hey Colin, unlike your buddies at the Black Democratic Caucus, we want the votes to be legitimate.

he really is senile if he believes his own question. the only people voting without a proper ID would not be lawful voters.

We encourage increased voter participation by legitimate voters; our efforts to educate the electorate with facts and historical legacy are superior in substance but lacking cool.

Powell is doing a Belafonte on us. Louis approves.

Per Powell...
"It is inhumane to prevent the dead from voting. After all, they have given their whole lives to, well, something. Don't deny them a vote just because they have moved on."

What an ass. We're trying to lower UNQUALIFIED voter participation.

Powell should stop pretending to be a Republican.

Hell, he should stop pretending that he ever was a Republican. He merely used the label once upon a time to get an affirmative action appointment.

Any white guy in a Republican administration who'd ever used his position of power to stop a war which we were clearly winning and guaranteed that we would have to go back later with a far greater cost in blood and treasure would have been banished to the same historical ash heap shared by Neville Chamberlain.
