New York Governor Cuomo the Junior may have rushed through his new gun control law with such speed that police will avoid its restrictions only through the blessed miracle of selective enforcement, but he may have a little trouble getting the state's firearms owners to attend his party. The new law requires owners of those scary-looking rifles known as "assault weapons" to register their property (amidst assurances that, oh no, the registration lists will never be used for confiscation), but gun rights activists are actively urging gun owners to defy the new mandate.

Obviously, criminals will not register their guns, and that is the intention of this law. They deliberately and intentionally want to take guns from honest, non-violent civilized people and leave them in the hands of violent criminals. They do this will full awareness and intent.
To enable the “downtrodden, oppressed, victimized” to waltz in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from the evil “oppressors.”
That’s a very good sign, but the cops need to make sure this is made public. The line in the sand has to be drawn and the political hacks have to be grabbed hard by the balls. [When you’ve got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.]
The next thing is the political hacks vote to rescind this stupid law, or they get to “sleep with the fishes”.
Correct. Why risk jail with non compliance? I think the Coumo and the coming Ct gun regs will spur a migration to red states.
Talking to some neighbors today and it appears that a lot of guns were lost in the storm.
Its tragic really.
Sandy was terrible! A lot of people lost everything. Such a shame.
It "failed" at one point because it was a liberal government that imposed it. Once the conservatives (adults) took over, the long gun registry was abolished. That's what you have to do, elect a conservative government. (I know, easier said than done).
The cops are not going to jeopardize their chushy pensions padded w/OT and seniority. Not in NY, Cali or CT. [As much as I wish it were so, based on their oath to defend the Constitution.]
I was trying to *make light* of this hideous situation. If laws were enough to deter criminal behavior prisons would be empty.
As far as criminals our governor, Emeperor Malloy released 3000 convicted felons last month....to save money for the overcrowded prison. These were murderers, rapists, violent offenders etc. 2 citizens have died at the hands of these scum.
Nice try, clown, but no cigar. You don’t much about Jersey, do you?
That was one damn big perfect storm. Oh the humanity!
Beadie eyed son of sfachime, HUD secretary and one of the root causes of the housing market collapse and the elitist billionaire 16 oz salt free smoke free and trans fat free douchberg would not dare go into urban areas and confiscate illegal guns for fear of not coming out alive besides they are not at all interested in thier guns, THIER THREAT IS US. we stand in the way of thier agenda to control us by disarming us and handing the control mechanisms to the UN and the international criminals. During the muslim rioting in britain these poor bastrads were on line buying baseball bats to protect themselves. When we loose our guns we loose the country. This must never happen here!
1998 isn't that long ago. I'll bet lotsa people don't appear there. At the same time, the millions upon millions bought since then are also too many to chase down, especially given a half-hearted constabulary with limited numbers and a limited amount of funds with which to pay them. I'm not saying there aren't dangers. On the contrary. I therefore think it's most important for us to be aware of our strategic advantages, and to consider how to maximize and expand them.
Some folks on the thread seem to take surrender as a foregone conclusion, and apparently, a plan. I think that's unwise.
You can't make criminals out of existing owners.
I live in NYS and I hate it. This place has gone communist.
Exactly...and ex post facto is unconstitional.
Do you have any source for your claim? I understood the law forbids keeping any permanent record of federal background checks. If there is any “NCIS archive” going back to 1998, that would be a clear violation.
"Cuomo The Lesser" sounds more fitting to me.
