New York Gun Owners Flip the Bird to "Assault Weapons" Registration Law
Reason.com ^ | Jan. 25, 2013 | J.D. Tuccille

New York Governor Cuomo the Junior may have rushed through his new gun control law with such speed that police will avoid its restrictions only through the blessed miracle of selective enforcement, but he may have a little trouble getting the state's firearms owners to attend his party. The new law requires owners of those scary-looking rifles known as "assault weapons" to register their property (amidst assurances that, oh no, the registration lists will never be used for confiscation), but gun rights activists are actively urging gun owners to defy the new mandate.

To: I want the USA back

...which is straight from the communist manifesto. They let the hardened criminals out on the street. They disarm the citizenry. Those criminals attack a defenseless citizenry. The citizens demand that the government restrict any and all civil liberties in order to guarantee safety.

“Every registered owner of a “assault weapon” is going to be tracked down.”

And some of them WILL shoot back.
How many casualties are “acceptable” to enforce this law?

Sorry, no. NICS automatically purges data every 24 hours, the only data immune from the daily purge is those checks that ran longer. Once a NICS check is complete, up OR down, it’s purged in the next 24-hour cycle.

How do I know this ?? I worked at the FBI Data Center where NICS is. They have monthly “purge audits”. . .

Jersey boys always talk with that stupid thug accent because that’s all they’ve got, an accent. They can only run to the end of their little pink chains and bark.

“.....entire Nics registration system....”

OK there’s a law against any registration system (I think its called the volkmer law).

And the nics only has names of those who are felons, mental cases, etc., who are PRESENTLY NOT ALLOWED to buy. When the nics check is done, the prospective buyers’ info is what is entered against the main list.

If there’s a match and they need to check more to rule it out, then its delayed (if it goes beyond 3 days they let sale proceed).

Nowhere is the information stored on the prospective gun buyer in the NICS system.

The only place its stored permanently is on the form 4473 that stays with the FFL dealer that it was bought from.(very rarely will batfe guys come in & copy; at most they LOOK).

So no such thing as NICS registration of purchasers.

If there is, then a big fat class action LAWSUIT is in order.

OK, anybody in new York that gets one of these letters, make a copy of it and on the copy black out your name and street address and leave only the city.

Scan it and post it here.

Gotta know when “it begins”.

When did the (up to & including 3 day) delay ones get deleted?

On the day after?

Many thanks for your cogent observation and setting things straight!

One of our local state reps was on the radio for over an hour last Thursday and he said he had read the original bill which called for registration of all guns be they hand guns, rifles, shot guns, and in 5 years the end result was to be CONFISCATION.

That had to be backed out so they could take the giant leap to get more guns registered but you can bet your life (in fact you may have to) that the CONFISCATION will be introduced again in the not to distant future in NY.

Testimony For Monday’s Hearing Now Online

Posted on January 26, 2013 by

Some of testimony already submitted for Monday’s Task Force Hearing on gun violence is now online. You may read it here. There are only about 170 there so far, and it’s a mix of pro and anti gun control. Unless every other gun owner in the state plans on attending the hearing Monday in person, there should be several hundred thousand more in support of our rights then I see there, Again I remind you to “Stand Up! Step Up! Speak Up, Dammit!”.

This might be the only chance you get to make your voice heard. Just to remind you, there are already over 60 bills working their way through Hartford, and all but a handful will restrict your rights to own and shoot your gun. Even if the only gun you own is a revolver, or a double barrel shotgun, you WILL be effected as well. Here’s a reminder of just some of the proposed laws:

If you can’t attend the hearing Monday, at least email your thoughts to the Task Force. If you need help or suggestions with your testimony, see our tip sheet for some helpful hints.

If there is any “NCIS archive” going back to 1998, that would be a clear violation.

Oh please. Following laws are for the little people- the unwashed masses. Welcome to the new reality of selective law enforcement. The end justifies the means dontchaknow.

Jersey is stuck in some kind of time warp. The only thing they have going for them is that great stench.

Very well worth a speeding ticket just to get through it.

I totally agree with you. There is one cop I know very well, and I told him, “You MUST make it clear that you are not just standing up for YOUR rights, but for the rights of ALL NYers. You MUST do something about the perception that others have about policemen: Namely, that policemen believe in an “Us vs. Them” mentality, and that the regular citizens are the “Thems”.”

I know that there are some cops who are just jackasses with badges (I know some; they are not welcome in my home). But most of them are just guys who have wives and families of their own, and they are INFURIATED about this.

Here are some of the remarks I’ve heard so far:

“I’m not registering jack $hit.”

“The day they tell me to confiscate a citizen’s gun is the day I go home sick and hand in my papers.” (I’m hearing that one from a LOT of 20+ year veterans.)

“I’m leaving this stupid state as soon as I possibly can.”

Regards,

PS: These remarks are from regular rank-and-file policemen. Sadly, some of the big-city police chiefs/commissioners and “law enforcement associations” are saying the opposite. I suggest these idiots start taking note of what their officers are ACTUALLY saying.

The only place its stored permanently is on the form 4473 that stays with the FFL dealer that it was bought from.

So if you bought an AR from a FFL as opposed to a secondary market the FFL has your name, SSN, and can reference your address from DMV and IRS.
