Fordo Underground Explosion Confirmed (Fordow Nuclear Iran - spelling variations) Video
johnbatchelorshow.com ^ | Monday, January 28, 2013 | John Batchelor

Posted on 01/28/2013 6:02:17 PM PST by Ernest_at_the_Beach

What We Know.

Fordow has become 'Iran's most heavily fortified facility', officials say. AP

Reza Kahlili reported Friday 25 that there had been an underground explosion at the secret Fordo nuclear enrichment facility in Iran.  The details included the closure of a major roadway nearby following the event.  The report also mentioned many technicians trapped underground, perhaps more than 200.   Reza Kahlili and I then discussed the report earlier in the week of an emergency meeting in Ahmadinejad's office in Tehran.  We reported on Wednesday evening 23 January that the meeting in Tehran was in anticipation of a covert operation by Israel or the US at Iranian nuke facilities.  But then on Friday we reasoned that perhaps the meeting on Tuesday was to assess the damage of the explosion.  We spoke at length at approximately 18:40 of the Friday 25 January podcast.

What Happened Next.

A number of European and Israeli publications reported on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 that Reza Kahlili had reported a Fordo explosion.  The most significant of these reports was the Die Welt report on Saturday.  I am told that Die Welt is associated with intelligence, and it is fair to assume that the entry is a confirmation.  Then again, the London Times reported in its Monday 28 edition the same explosion.  This report mentioned the Israeli government as well as "Israeli intelligence."  I am told that the London Times is associated with significant intelligence sources.  How to interpret these reports?  The intelligence analysts have moved collaboratively in order to confirm Reza Kahlili's report.

All Eyes Only.

The guys at Powerline are talking about it too and they don’t usually go off half cocked. But they are careful to say they are talking about “uncorroborated reports”.

They link to this Weekly Standard article:

At the top of the page you link to they say

“WARNING! This is information absolute not confirmed!) “

That is what a responsible web site says. To claim their report is confirmed is so typical of the bombastic BS you get with WND.

Had a feeling the Israeli's were prepping the local battle space a few months ago. Looks like things could heat up real quick. Anyone turning their guns in now, might as well start digging their own graves.

I respect your statements fully as usual. And ask similar questions on these type issues.
I certainly did not intended to put you on the spot.
Perhaps we shall never know the answer to this one.
Or in due time we will get another Charlie Wilson book made into perhaps a movie.
Surely the US would not admit covert operations with Israel.
Unless for some reason the goon from Kenya is advice to yet again brag over how he did damage to Islamic radicals, like say the UBL operation.
Time will eventually bring out what happened most likely.

The seismic event you reference is some 150 nautical miles due south of Fordo Iran, where the nuclear site is supposed to exist. So no respect intended. I don't think you can connect the two. Plus there are no roads or facilities of any kind within the mountain range where the seismic event is recorded to have happened. As a side note. The seismic event is recorded to have centered around 10km down. That is quite a bit deeper then any man made facility Iran would have constructed in the earth. Think 7 miles down. I'll let it go at that.
Reference: Both Google Maps, and Google Earth Map tools.

Iran denies explosion at underground uranium facility

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran has denied media reports of a major explosion at one of its most sensitive uranium enrichment sites, describing them as Western propaganda designed to influence upcoming nuclear negotiations.
Reuters has been unable to verify reports since Friday of an explosion early last week at the underground Fordow bunker, near the religious city of Qom, that some Israeli and Western media have said caused significant damage.

Dig this?
RT

Instead of going to a full-scale war with Iran over its nuclear program Israel may be satisfied with a US-led operation, says Defense Minister Ehud Barak. Previously Tel Aviv was determined to resolve the issue on its own, if the US refuses to help.
Apparently after the Knesset election this month left the Netanyahu cabinet weakened, Israeli hawks are toning down their war drumming rhetoric. In an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Barak said the Pentagon had prepared a surgical operation that can be used as a last-ditch measure to slow Iranian progress.
“I used to tell them [American friends], you know, when we are talking about surgical operations we think of a scalpel, you think of a chisel with a 10-pound hammer,” Barak joked as cited by The Daily Beast. But that’s not the case with the plan, he noted. “The Pentagon prepared quite sophisticated, fine, extremely fine, scalpels. So it is not an issue of a major war or a failure to block Iran. You could under a certain situation, if worse comes to worst, end up with a surgical operation.”
Such an operation “will delay [the Iranians] by a significant time frame and probably convince them that it won’t work because the world is determined to block them,” Barak said.

“We of course prefer that some morning we wake up and see that the Arab Spring was translated into Farsi and jumped over the Gulf to the streets of Tehran, but you cannot build a plan on it,” he added.
Israel’s right-wing government under PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been trumpeting war drums for months, saying it is prepared to do anything to stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon and would launch an attack before its own window of opportunity closes. It called on its American allies to draw a red line after which a military action should follow. The pressure antagonized the Barack Obama administration, which refused to sign up for a new major conflict and called for non-military effort.

But then the JP states...."...The Times said the official refused to comment on reports that Israeli aircraft were seen near the facility at the time of the explosion."
Huh?
Oh well. And again. The JP is going by what the WND author had to pen, based on what the Sunday Times found at the WND site.
This is a confirmation?

From the link at #53:

************************************EXCERPT**************************************

Channel 2′s Middle East analyst Ehud Yaari said that the IAEA would know within days if a blast had actually occurred at the plant. According to Yaari, the UN nuclear watchdog has cameras placed at Fordo, which it inspects every seven to 10 days.

The explosion reportedly occurred last Monday, so if Iran doesn’t let the IAEA inspectors into the facility in the next two or three days “we’ll know something happened,” he said.

I did my homework. I both in Google Maps as well as Google Earth went to the precise spot the known seismic event occurred. It was located at 10KM below the surface, some 150 miles due south of where the plant is claimed to exist.
All you have to do is call up say Google Earth and go to the lat and lon of that event to see it is deep in the mountain chain, no connecting roads or dwelling of any form, remote mountain terrain.
I'll leave it go at that.

Now that is along the lines of my original thinking. If the IAEA inspectors, provide a definative report as to the condition of that facility grossly changing from what it was originally, then so be it.
But how the hell are they or anyone else going to go down to the site if it is closed off by cave ins along the route from the surface.
Whatever. I do hope it turns out to be all true. And I most certainly have not meant to brow beat any Freeper on this.

On a side note. Perhaps over the next few days you may want to find time to donate approx 1.5 hours to what I have been watching as I type....
CSPAN General Stan McCrystal at Brookings. Some interesting things he brings out starting with the Iraqi invasion and how Intel and SECOPS worked in al Anbar etc., here.
After listening to the final part of the General's stay at Brookings I'm hitting the rack, so Ernie, do have a great upcoming day.

If all those centrifuges were spun up and full of UF6, then even a minor shockwave could have caused serious chaos. Yet, there are reports that several levels of the underground facility may have collapsed.

If there has been major collapse, the Iranians should forget rescue. (Forget radioactivity in the short term; Uranium hexafluorde is nasty stuff, chemically.) Those trapped people (including the visiting Norks) underground are already dead or doomed.

Iran should be busting their humps bringing in cement trucks to seal off as much of the radioactive contamination as possible -- and hope that there is no place a critical mass can accumulate.

“There won’t be no Chilian rescue for those poor bastages. Still,I suppose that’s why they got paid the big bucks eh,well and virgins, can’t forget that.”

Just like in North Korea, I suspect at least some of them were held against their will or under threat to their families.

It’s partially why I stayed out of the nuclear industry. Particularly the defense sector. While interesting to me, the pay is not enough to have that big of a target on your back.

Nowadays, I’d be more afraid of our own government than the Norks or Persians. If the US was under a serious “threat”, all such people would probably be detained “for their own safety”. Those skills make them worth more than gold...

If the above image is authentic, the "fallout stain" appears to be associated with the northern pair of tunnel entrances, and may me most closely associated with the northernmost entrance of the four.
