DENVER - Demonstrators demanding stricter gun laws gathered outside the Colorado State Capitol at noon on Monday.

More than 100 gun-control supporters rallied on the Capitol steps with signs that said "Let Us Live."

The gun violence prevention rally was organized by Together Colorado, a group that specializes in community organizing.

The rally included speeches and presentation by friends and family of gun violence victims, religious leaders, elected officials and other advocates of stricter regulations on firearms.

KEYWORDS: 2ndamendment; banglist; guncontrol; secondamendment
A surprising quote from Lib Jared Polis a Boulder-Dem that banning guns is against the 2nd Amendment:

"I believe it would make it harder for Colorado families to defend themselves and also interfere with the recreational use of guns by law-abiding Coloradans," Polis said. "If we want to reduce violence, we should invest in improving our schools to ensure that young people have jobs and do not turn to gangs, crime or violence of any form, and improving access to mental health services." I went to a pro Constitution rally on gun appreciation day, and there were no mass produced astroturf signs there.

Of the 100 that were counted, 93 were members of the press.

I think this is why the Kenyan wanted everyone to lose their jobs and go on food stamps and disability. More free time to participate in his 100 Moron Marches.

Why did they need a podium for 100 people, any soapbox would have done.

100 people is not a rally, that is a small luncheon.

I can get 100 people at my house for hot dogs any day of the week.

Yes, but think of the possibilities.

Baraq, Bloomie, and Rhambo can deputize the Million Moms Against Guns and send them into the urban ghettos next summer to clean out all the illegal firearms.

It was really an incredible experience -I have never done this before.

I got there at 10 AM, knowing that I wasn’t needed until 13:30 at room 356.

I sat and watched the proceedings take place.

It was kinda funny at times. The room was packed -at least
100 people.

Bill 13-009 was to be heard by the committee last, yet the FIRST bill’s sponsor came to the microphone and said, “I am so pleased that so many people came to testify and witness my bill being presented to this committee.”

The VAST majority of people were there to testify FOR SB 13-009 -the bill to allow CCW at schools for school employees.

Four people from three, “Special Interest Groups,” testified against this bill

Thirty to fourty were testifying FOR this bill.

Some as young as ten-years-old.

I was there.

I’ll post a thread on my next days off -with pictures.

Please remember, Colorado:
Please do all that you can to vote out of office these
three:

Aguilar, Ulibarri and Guzman.

They voted to prevent the security of our kids in schools.

Thanks for the report.

Brilliant!

If only the Jews in World War II Europe had access to signs like that after they were disarmed.

Who all voted for it?

King and Lundberg

What was the outcome?

This bill was lost, despite the number of people testifying for and against.
It was quite disgusting, actually.
It was CLEAR to the whole room that the vast majority wanted our kids safe in schools.

Ulibarri was a sleeze -asking hard questions from children, and Aguilar and Guzman barely said a word during the proceedings.

It didn’t get out of the Judiciary Senate Committee on a party line vote. 3 - 2 for the Dims.

I’ll take a strategic outcome on gun bills for being an overall “wash” if it prevents the Dims from enacting their gun grabbing bills.

Here’s a question, who is the speaker speaking to? Shouldn’t she turn the podium around?

Latest updates from the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. You'll notice that the Dems anti-gun bills STILL haven't yet made it to committee. No details - no nothing. They've only spewed hot air. You may conclude that their support is very weak.

100? I’ve got that many illegals living in a house across the street from me.

When the rally reaches 1,000, call me. Otherwise, call it a bust.

Dear demonstrating loosers, all of the criminals in the world have read your signs and will now leave you alone because you have asked them to. You may return home and feel good about the peace that you helped spread today.

And if we say no, what are you going to do about it? You dont have any guns. However, feel free to continue begging for your lives.

"Let Us Live"????

Sure ...

There are no guarantees ...

But if you buy a gun ... and learn to use it ... and carry it for self defense ...

You'll have a fighting chance.

Your political masters' gun-ban agenda only promises you an ignominious coward's death.

Choose wisely.

Thank you. To all who read this, my experience is in family rights advocacy (’90s). Rallies in favor of the Second Amendment, like other rallies, are good for presenting to and swaying the populace in general. That’s important.

But many politicians don’t regard rallies as being important and are more concerned with what they can get from the influential (and wealthy) constituents we don’t see. So action behind the scenes is also very important. Write to members of state assemblies, congress, all. Contribute to pro-Second-Amendment organizations—especially those in your states. They counter the efforts of anti-Second-Amendment constituents who lurk in the shadows and exert much influence.

On your comment #1, yes. Most Democrats are now in favor of their Second Amendment rights. Their Party is losing many of them on that issue, just as it began obviously losing some of them (fewer) on feminism in 2004 (see Hillary losing). And yes, they have a long way to go in learning (about counterproductive, freedom-busting regulations, for one).

The current anti-Second-Amendment efforts are driven by relatively small numbers of people with much influence (see money). Those people try to use both political parties. Pro-Second-Amendment voters are majorities in both political parties. As many of you may have guessed by now, gun control is a class issue for anti-Second-Amendment folks afraid of those of us with less class. ;-) But also know this. Many wealthier people are *not* working against our Second Amendment. Many have earned their incomes honestly and have none of the guilt that compels others to fear.

Disarming Americans is not a good answer to fears. Better government is the answer. I see more hysteria and instigations of panic in political speech than ever before. That should be a clue to what we’re dealing with. In the past, leaders tended toward trying to calm the population, even in rough times.

Members of Congress and state assemblies have not been receiving enough mail from us. We need to get going. We don’t have all of the money, but we have the votes. Let ‘em know. And do contribute to the organizations working in favor of our Second Amendment. Money (for lobbying, campaign funds, etc.) is a fact of life in politics.
