Couple face jail after nursing a coyote-bitten fawn back to health

An Indiana couple who nursed an injured fawn back to health more than two years ago is now facing jail time after refusing to leave the animal to die.

Connersville police officer Jeff Counceller says that it was a little more than two years ago while on patrol that he discovered the tiny deer curled up on a neighbor’s front porch, badly wounded and unable to stand.

Without time to help it himself, he called his wife, a registered nurse, who cautiously approached the deer with their teenaged daughter before experiencing the fawn gently licking their hands.

Unbeknownst to them at the time, however, was that bringing the animal home with them was illegal according to the state's Department of Natural Resources, with the crime punishable by jail.

I said “more”, not “most”. Otherwise, I agree with you.

Here’s the key phrase:

“Unbeknownst to them at the time, however, was that bringing the animal home with them was illegal according to the state’s Department of Natural Resources, with the crime punishable by jail.”

This is why all you conservatives need to turn off NFL football, turn off the barbecue, stop redocorating your kitchens and stop chasing the false god Mammon.

You need to get off your fat dupas and elect a constitutional sheriff who believes in the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment.

With a constitutional sheriff you can:

1. Investigate liberals in your community.

2. Throw those pigs in prison.

3. Buy surplus military arms, including mortars and machineguns.

4. Muster a division of like-minded fully-armed citizens for “emergencies” who can to tell the state DNR to KMA.

You conservatives best slap yourselves awake before you’re rounded up and hauled to “Arbeit macht frei.”

we took care of an abandoned fawn a few years ago. smart as any dog. knew its name. came when you called it. played in the sprinkler
let anyone come up and pet it. when it was time, she went back to the woods and did very well. one of the best experiences our family ever had. kept the DNR out of it as we had already heard horror stories about them shooting them in front of your kids. i would have shot back.

Amen.

Spoken by a fellow criminal - But! - ONLY in the eyes of corrupt men.

Dear Lord, hear our prayer.

Some vets will tell you what you need, and you can buy it yourself at the feed store...or should I say you used to be able to do so.

You can get all the *dog* distemper shots you want.

Cat vaccines seem to pretty limited and you must use the feline vax on coons.

[pet coons may possibly be why cat vax are not as easily found]

I was visiting 2 of my daughters in Dallas. One is a law student and another prelaw at SMU.. We had tickets to see Justice Scalia. He spoke on his new book, “Reading the Law”. The premis of the book is to tell lawyers and judges ‘how to’ judge (that is a very elementary explaination). One of the axioms he perports in the book is that there are laws (written code) which no reasonable person would enforce. There is a long Latin term he used, but the thrust of it was that some laws are so inane in todays parlance that it is unreasonable to be applied. Given the fact that they are bringing the case 1 1/2 years after the animal was rehabilitated it seems cruel and inhumain to euthanize a completely healthy deer. Where’s the love? But these killers of animals which have been rehabilitated by people who love them must be democrats....or as Walowitz’s mother refers to him as a putz...Democrat putz.

Yes, Nature and other life has no meaning or value, it’s all about you and your car. Congratulations: You are the living version of the liberal cartoon of the conservative as a self-centered, vicious knuckle-dragger.

Read the story again, The police officer and his wife are the ones who saved the animal.

...There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

And there it is - modern day liberalism in a nutshell...

My daughter lives back in the woods and her neighbor just about every year nurse's a fawn back to health with a bottle of special milk. When its big enough to wander off in the woods, they will call it back (named baby) and it will still come to the porch to nurse a bottle. He gets them from neighbors that find them. He also had a large feeding set up that releases corn twice a day from a hugh hung barrel....no body rats him out. When they are out of town my daughter and her husband drive the back trails to their house, have a key and warm up a bottle for baby...she comes when she is called...they took me there once to watch...

Scum that would shoot a helpless fawn are sub human....

My family has always been in the livestock business.

My great-grandfather once took a stick after my behind when I failed to hit the ditch in a loaded grain truck in order to shoot at a passing pack of coyotes.

Old lessons die hard.

The population didn't explode and become a traffic hazard until people were regulated into not shooting and eating them.

I meant to add that the coyotes were there only because the deer were there and the deer were there to eat his crops.

We were equal opportunity killers in those days - deer for crop destruction, coyotes for livestock destruction.

All the activities of those animals took money out of people's pockets.
