As the federal government moves forward to implement President Obama's Affordable Care Act, the Department of Health and Human Services is slated to spend millions of dollars promoting the unpopular legislation. In the face of this publicity blitz, it is worth remembering that the law was originally sold largely on four groundsall of which have become increasingly implausible.
Lower health-care costs. One key talking point for ObamaCare was that it would reduce the cost of insurance, especially for non-group insurance. The president, citing the work of several health-policy experts, claimed that improved care coordination, investments in information technology, and more efficient marketing through exchanges would save the typical family $2,500 per year.
That was then. Now, even advocates for the law acknowledge that premiums are going up. In analyses conducted for the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado, Jonathan Gruber of MIT forecasts that premiums in the non-group market will rise by 19% to 30% due to the law. Other estimates are even higher. The actuarial firm Milliman predicts that non-group premiums in Ohio will rise by 55%-85%. Maine, Oregon and Nevada have sponsored their own studies, all of which reach essentially the same conclusion.
Some champions of the law argue that this misses the point, because once the law's new subsidies are taken into account, the net price of insurance will be lower. This argument is misleading. It fails to consider that the money for the subsidies has to come from somewhere. Although debt-financed transfer payments may make insurance look cheaper, they do not change its true social cost.

What else could possibly be expected from the LIAR in chief and his minions?
Drudge has a story up that by 2016 the cheapest family policy available will cost $20K.
The fine for not buying one is $2400.
You can see where this is going.
All lies. But we told them so.
This is “turning out to FALSE” only to those who were foolish/stupid enough to believe it in the first place.
Those who, like me, knew this was a load of crap from the get-go, have merely been waiting for this to come out.
The sad thing is, it truly STINKS to be proven right, doesn’t it?
Remember the ‘Government Rule of 10’ : Every government estimate will be off by a factor of 10.
If they predict something will gost A Billion Dollars, it will end up costing 10 Billion.
If they say it will take one year, it will be done in 10 years.
Obamacare is just more Cloward-Piven strategery written by the insurance lobby to whip the slaves (american taxpayers)
Is there ANYTHING in that law that is not more cynical or more insincere than any similar measure in the past?
Even the very name is a study in oxymorons. The patients are not protected, and the care, where any is made available at all, is far less than affordable. Mostly, the law depends on denial of services, and applying taxes where none existed before.
But we have it on good authority that this measure, being about taxes and not about delivery of medical care, is therefore Constitutional.
How can a couple with three children making $120,000 a year afford to spend $20,000 on healthcare insurance (the Bronze policy) each year? How do they save for retirement, save for their kids’ education, pay their bills, pay their taxes?
What kind of life is that?
Why don’t the gutless creeps in congress just refuse to fund the damn thing???
I know some liberals who really truly believe that ObamaCare is ‘FREE’ and think that when 2016 gets here all they have to do is show up at the doctor’s office and it will cast them NOTHING!
I’ve tried to dispel their ignorance with facts, but they tell me I don’t have a clue..............
That was intentionally implied if not stated,
and there was definitely not an effort to disabuse anyone of this belief.
When a leftist is pushing any policy that does not accomplish or solve the problem that they say they are trying to solve,
the agenda is different than what they are proposing.
I can’t wait to see the look on their ignorant little faces when the reality finally hits them in it.............
In 2010 the IMF told Greece that one condition of getting a bailout was to privatize the Greek health care system.
I seriously think we won’t make it to 2016...
The economy will totally crash before then.
Misleading five years of the Obama norm.
The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.
Little Sally led off: “I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30,” she said proudly, “My sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success.”
“Very good,” said the teacher.
Little Jenny was next:
“I sold magazines,” she said, “I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events.”
“Very good, Jenny,” said the teacher.
Eventually, it was Little Johnny’s turn. The teacher held her breath...
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher’s desk. “$2,467” he said.”$2,467!” cried the teacher, “What in the world were you selling?”
“Toothbrushes,” said Little Johnny.
“Toothbrushes!” echoed the teacher, “How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?”
“I found the busiest corner in town,” said Little Johnny, “I set up a Chip & Dip stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample. They all said the same thing, “Hey, this tastes like dog crap!”
Then I would say, “It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush? I used the government approach of giving you something shitty for free, and then making you pay to get the taste out of your mouth.”
I can see a thriving underground economy.
In the last 5 years only one person had the courage to speak the truth. That was the guy who told Obama. “YOU LIE”.
Until lies are called what they are and people are taken to the woodshed for lies, things will keep going downhill.
This misleading, or He misspoke claptrap, is a cowardly way to point out a bald faced lie.
I see in the future a shortage in taxi drivers.
All those doctors from foreign countries who came here and couldnt find a job will be lining up to remove your gallbladder.
I’m with you but I guess I was holding out hope that I was just being a paranoid conservative.
Sucks to be right!
IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

It doesnt matter to leftists. INTENTIONS are all that matter, results do not.
it is hard to imagine amore stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. Thomas Sowell
What we're not going to hear from Obama guard dog Fx News about Obamacare is the following. Regardless that Chief Justice Roberts found Obamacare constitutional with respect to Congresss power to lay taxes, perhaps you will find it disturbing, as I have, that the Court had previously clarified that the states have never granted Congress the constitutional authority to address intrastate public healthcare issues.
More specifically, regardless that Justice Roberts referenced the Gibbons v. Ogden case in the Obamacare opinion, he seemingly ignored two key statements in the Gibbons opinion which clearly indicate, imo, that Congress has no constitutional authority to make legislation of any kind regulating public healthcare.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress (emphases added)." --Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824."Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Chief Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
In other words, Congress cannot make laws to lay taxes or establish penalties in the name of intrastate public healthcare any more than it can make laws regulating 1st Amendment protected religious expression and freedom of press imo.
Here's two more excerpts from Supreme Court case opinions which likewise indicate that Congress has no constitutional authority to make laws regulating intrastate healthcare. Note that Justice Barbour referenced the above excerpt from Gibbons in New York v. Miln, expanding it as follows.
"Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description, as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a state and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass." --Justice Barbour, New York v. Miln, 1837.
And before Constitution-ignoring FDR nuked the Supreme Court with activist justices, Constitution-respecting justices had again emphasized that Congress has no business sticking its big nose into intrastate medical practice.
Direct control of medical practice in the states is obviously (emphasis added) beyond the power of Congress. Linder v. United States, 1925.
My gallbladder is already gone, but doctors who sit behind computers waiting for bureaucrats to decide whether I get care for my cough, scare me. If you are over 70, you get the hospice chute!
This exactly what they planned. They’re moving toward totally government healthcare. Everyone will be going to the VA.

I could write an essay or maybe even a book on that! I have been wrong many times about many things over many years but I am almost never wrong when I want to be wrong, I would have loved to be proven wrong about the results of the 2008 election but I knew all along it would never happen. When it is gut wrenching to be right I am never wrong. I am still unable to comprehend why so many Americans cannot, as my mother used to say, “See past the end of their noses.”
“Even the very name is a study in oxymorons.”

Yes, in a sane world it would exist only in a comic book land like “BIZARRO WORLD” and would be known as The UNaffordable Health Disregard Act.

An exercise in futility if there ever was one. What other hobbies do you enjoy? Maybe carrying moonbeams home in a jar, herding cats, arm wrestling with power lifters? These people are able to believe anything as long as it makes no sense at all. They can even believe two contradictory statements at once as long as neither one makes any sort of sense. They are totally incapable of believing truth that is as obvious to you as the sunrise. They are the living definition of what was meant by the old line I used to hear so often before South Carolinians all started trying to sound like normal people, “If you put his brain in a Jaybird, he’d fly backwards.” Or, one of my other old favorites which is no longer heard, “He ain’t got the sense to pour water out of a boot if the directions was printed on the heel.”
And the low-information voters will eat it up, blame Repubs, and the "media" will turn their soft-glow "halo" lights on Zero from above while he beatifies himself and spews venom on conservatives.
This stuff is too easy to predict.
If we could somehow return to the true meaning of the constitution people would be amazed how little government would remain. Perhaps ninety percent of it is in truth a violation of the constitution but little by little over the years judges have proclaimed most of these atrocities to somehow be covered by the commerce clause, the welfare clause or the unwritten just beclause.
Now that was funny. I don't care who you are, it's funny!
