This morning, the White House released a photo of President Obama shooting a gun:

"President Barack Obama shoots clay targets on the range at Camp David, Md., Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)," the caption reads.

Paging 'W' and Ted Nugent! Cheny, too!
An over/under has two barrels, one on top of the other. There is a hinged break just aft of the action that allows you to load shells. You can’t load more than two.
All over/under shotguns have a capacity of two.

Looks like the temp was in the 70-80 degree range at that time.
The other question, was he actually at Camp David that date? Have heard he hates it there.
Regarding the lack of recoil, that may actually be a 28 Gauge. Looking at the Browning 425 list here, plus how small diameter the barrels seem in relation to his hands, it appears to be that. Also note the 28 gauge has the least engraving with no embellishments that most of the other 425 models have.

IE, he was almost shooting a BB gun compared to a typical trap gun.
I hate to show my ignorance, but what are 'mom jeans'?
Doesn't help much. If you shoot 20-30 3" magnum deer slugs through it in one outing you'll have a bruised shoulder regardless.
Bingo! As soon as I saw the picture I realized that this is just a photo op. Anyone who has shot skeet before would see that the shotgun is almost parallel to the deck. If he were shooting a clay pigeon, the weapon would be pointed much higher.
His sight line also appears to be going through the barrel, not on top of it. Add to that he’s holding it more like a rifle than a shotgun.
There are a dozen things wrong with this picture.
Yes, I noticed the object at the end of the barrel. Had never thought about a double requiring a blank fire adapter. My first thought was a screw in choke mechanism (similar to a Winchoke).
Obama is having a Dukakis (sic) moment.
I’m not sure that’s a choke.
Might be an insert to allow you to fire .410 out of a 12.
Awww...ain’t he cute??
Trying to show the country was a “gunny” he is.
Not.
It is a double barreled shotgun with one barrel over the other.
They either have 2 triggers or a switchable trigger mechanism.
They brake over in the middle to load. They are basically a 2 barrel single shot gun.
About as authentic as dukakis driving a tank.
********
Hes also a sissy."
And probably a citizen of Kenya or Indonesia.
Even though the White Hut released the photo, I doubt it is what it says it is.
She’s shooting a break barrel spring gun.
Yep, but he can order a tank to run over you.
Is that like staying at a Holiday Inn Express?
FUBO!
Ask him which eye he closes when shooting skeet.
It’s his snipe hunting gun.
Isn’t that his birthday?
Zooming in on the picture it appears there is a lot of pixelating around the subject, but I’m no expert in this field.
If Obama needs manly shooting skilz bona-fides, he needs to release a picture of himself shooting a .454 Casull SA Revolver, or some other Very Large Caliber Handgun (.475 Linebaugh would work, too).
One-handed, even.
Only way he was shooting a clay pidgeon in this picture was if the pidgeons were lined up on the ground. It is a photo-shop picture. The truth will come out when experts on photo-shop start weighing in. The Great Black Hunter wouldn’t know the stock of a rifle from the barrel.

Ahhh! where did my eyeball go? LOL!
Basically, baggy jeans for Moms that have lost their figures.

Uh... I’ll betcha’ a sawbuck that she got a nasty “scope-eye” cut right after she pulled that trigger!
Cheers!
He's also standing side on: which means he's firing across his body, which smushes his cheek aganist the stock, and doesn't allow enough length of forestock for a natural grip (his fingers are curved backward).
Jordache!

The picture on the Weekly Standard is the only one the shows the pixelating. The better quality shots on other thread do not show this.................nevermind.
Did she keep her eye?
Exactly!!! Looks more like he’s shooting the guy
you yell ‘PULL!” to.
Another load of ported BS from the White Hut owned media.
My Dad was a skeet shooter...(clay pigeon)
he used a double barrelled shot gun...
I never participated myself but I went to a lot of competitions with him...
Them pigeons were slung out into the air...
Like “up there” Mr O..
There is some indication that he left for Camp David on August 4, 2012, late in the afternoon or early evening. Skim through this google search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=obam+camp+david+Aug.+4%2C+2012
And he was wearing different clothes, but that isn’t important, I suppose.
I wonder if the range at Camp David is really so close to the road in the background.

wait, isn’t this suppose to be a photo taken right he pulled the trigger? yet he stands there looking like he’s about to shoot....
Looking at the end of the barrel (top) it might be a blank fire adapter, as some here suggested.
A barrel reduction sleeve makes no sense with the barrel obviously ported on the right side.
I have never seen such a blank fire adapter, but there is definately something odd about the barrel end. Too big to be a choke sleeve.
Looks like his cheek would get bruised pretty quickly if he holds the weapon that way.
It just goes to show what an amateur he is. He doesn’t know how to properly stand when shooting a shotgun.
Also, the clay pigeon is on the way down, that’s why his gun is almost parallel with the ground; he tracked its flight and pulled the trigger waaay late. Rookie move.
Cheers!
OK, thanks. That’s good to know. Wasn’t sure it would work with the use of shot.
It’s a double barrel, over-under, looks like a Browning Citori.
Actually, he’s probably lined up about right for a pigeon from the low tower, isn’t he?
Nah, he’s just not a true sportsman. He shots the poor little things while they’re still sitting on the nest.
I’m not a skeet shooter but don’t you usually wear a vest or a pouch of some kind to keep your shells in? Unless you’re a real wussy that has to have someone else reload for...oh, never mind.
I just see the big deal about this. If I was a powerful man like obama, seems like this whole photoshoot could be arrange in the matter of an hour. They fly me over to Camp David, give me a 3 minute shooting lesson, and shoot a round, and then publish a picture of it.
I think it shows how thinned he is, when people started making fun of him about skeet shooting. Another reason to think he is very dangerous. Can’t take jokes well.
A BFA would serve no purpose on a double barreled shotgun.
Wonder what a real president and skillful arms-men wood think of the photos....
Paging ‘W’ and Ted Nugent! Cheny, too!
**Sarah Palin too..would love to hear her comment!
