WASHINGTON President Obama has taken on N.B.A. stars on the White House basketball court, golfed at the air base that houses Air Force One and even tried to polish his legendarily woeful bowling at the presidential lanes.
But now it turns out that he has picked up a new hobby: skeet shooting at Camp David.
At least that is the way he tells it. In an interview published last week, Mr. Obama said that he and his guests shot clay pigeons all the time at the retreat in the Maryland mountains, a revelation that surprised many and drew a fair bit of skepticism. And then on Saturday, the White House released a photo of Mr. Obama skeet shooting at Camp David in August.
The notion of the president taking aim at targets flung into the air captivated some in the political and social media worlds at a time when he is pushing Congress to enact sweeping restrictions on assault rifles and high-capacity magazines. Conservatives scoffed, comics mocked, a congresswoman challenged him to a skeet-shooting contest, a fake picture of an armed Mr. Obama circulated on the Internet, and the White House tried to make the whole matter go away.
It was a surprise to a lot of people in the industry when we saw that and heard that, said Michael Hampton Jr., the executive director of the National Skeet Shooting Association, whose 35,000-member rolls do not include the president. But officially we have no idea whether he does participate or not. Only him or his people would know that.
Mr. Obama is hardly the first politician to draw scorn for boasting of experience with guns...

In a photo released by the White House on Saturday, President Obama is shown skeet shooting at Camp David in August 2012.
pretty low
And doesn’t seem to be moving the gun. Stationary skeet?
A staged pic of The Gay Caballero in Chief.
ridiculous
using a malfunctioning teleprompter as a target?
Shouldn’t he be holding it sideways, Gangsta style?
My immediate and exact thought...Maybe when you "do skeet" shooting, there are different rules./sarc
What a menacing dope.
To paraphrase Mr. Rogers...Can you say "photoshop", I knew you could.
That is not a skeet shooting stance.
This is a photo op from the liar in chief.
Put this one with the pictures of the plywood Iranian fighter jet.
he thinks he can pull the wool over everybody’s eyes. If he had ever tried even one single case in even the teeniest most inconsequential courtroom, he would be a whole lot more aware of how hard it is to get people to believe a lie.
I thought skeet were launched up in the air. He seems to be shooting at a target level with him.
besides, those dumb earmuffs he has on would fall off if he tilted his head back
I asked my husband about that....he says, NO, he really could be shooting skeet....
Not likely to hurt himself that way with target ammo and ported barrels but it would be fun watching him shoot a hunting gun with even 3” magnum shells in it that way...
He would do well to drop this and spend more time turning out crazy Muslims who shoot 14 people at a military base.
He would do well to route out Muslims in the military and White House until there is deep scrutiny.
The Islamists have made no hiding that we are the Great Satan that must be vanquished.
He might be shooting AT skeets that way but he'd never hit anything.

I was wondering about that. I don’t shoot skeet but I always thought it was those clays flying high in the air, so he should be aiming much higher than what is shown. Which looks like regular target practice.
How convincing.
What if I said, “I go camping all the time. Here is A picture.”
Or
“I go fishing all the time. Here is A picture.”
Or
“I go bowling all the time. Here is A picture.”
What does all the time is GOLFING. There are countless pictures available of that
“shooting paper targets of his enemies”

LOL. Good post.
My reaction too.
The gun is parallel to the ground. Unless those skeets are about 6’ or less in height, he ain’t gonna shoot many of them.
[Usually, one would see the gun aimed up in the air, as that is were those varments fly.]
[[Anyone who believes that that photo was not staged for political propaganda purposes could probably be receptive to buying ocean-front property in Lincoln, Nebraska.]]
Boy it’s a good thing someone didn’t accidentally drop a shell of a lesser caliber in there before our fearless leader loaded his piece and pulled the trigger.
In a cartoon setting he’d look like Buckwheat, but in a natural setting he’d be hard to look at.
He’s not good enough to hit an outgoing clay.
- B. H. Obama
LOL.
The NRA is inside Obama’s OODA loop.
Actual skeet shooters carry a supply of shells ... in their jacket pocket or in a pocket around their waist. Pretend skeet shooters don’t need additional ammo because they will only be taking one shot for the camera.
Uh oh. You done it now. There’s gonna be a knock at your door and your computer’s going to be confiscated. The regime has declared that mucking with the photo isn’t protected by the 1st amendment.
This is a staged photo. He is no more shooting skeet in that photo than he is playing tennis. Look at the tension in his arm muscles...is this the stance of someone accustomed to shooting a gun?
That was my first thought as well. Fire off three or four rounds with the stock in that position and I supsect you will not be using that shoulder for the rest of the week.
Also did you notice that he is firing almost parallel to the ground? Aren't skeet tossed into the air? Whatever he is shooting is no more than about 10 feet off the ground.
Also shouldn't a skinny guy like Obama be wearing a shoulder pad? He's just wearing a polo shirt.
The Picture was probably taken the day before it was used.
It’s not Obama.
More Please
Looks like that skeet is hovering midair for him. I wish I could get a sporting clay to do that. :-)
Nice!
Can you make the gas comes out his back-side?
He’s trying to shoot the clay before it leaves the launcher. Much easier to hit before they start flying!
Side note - does his gun have a pressure relief valve on the side of the barrel?

If you don’t hit them on the way up you can try to hit them on the way down. However it doesn’t work well that way, Best to hit them on the way upor at their peak of rise.
“Something seems wrong about the way he is holding this rife. Doesn’t it seem to be too high against his shoulder? The recoil from a shot would be absorbed into the top of the shoulder bone rather than the meat of the pectoral muscle. Just doesn’t look like someone that is a shooter.”
Exactly what I thought. The more I look at it the more I think he’s shooting a low load blank. Virtually no recoil evident in the way he’s holding the gun. Any real load would have knocked the gun out of his delicate hands.
Didn’t someone report having seen him show up nervously for some skeet event there, suffer through a nervous five minutes of it, and leave?
Someone can grab the metadata from the photo and pull a date when this was taken?
