Senate to introduce gun control bill without assault weapons ban
American Thinker ^ | February 4, 2013 | Rick Moran

If a ban can't pass the Senate, it certainly won't pass in the House. Consider the assault weapons ban a dead issue, while the ammunition limit is alive and well.

Wall Street Journal:

Senate Democratic leaders expect a gun bill to move to the Senate floor that includes most of the proposals backed by President Barack Obama, with the notable exception of a ban on military-style, semiautomatic weapons, a top aide to Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said.

The bill would likely seek to limit the capacity of ammunition magazines; expand background checks to include sales at gun shows and other private transactions; and require better record keeping to keep guns out of the hands of those with mental illnesses. It would also try to curb gun sales in states with more relaxed gun laws to buyers in states with stricter laws.

But the strategy outline also reflects a growing sense within Democratic ranks that some of the president's most ambitious goals-particularly the call for new bans on certain types of military-style guns often described as assault weapons-may be unrealistic, the Reid aide said.

The goal is to get the bill to the Senate floor next month, at which point lawmakers could then seek to amend the legislation by adding a ban on certain semiautomatic weapons or other provisions, the aide said.

The details provide the first snapshot of how Senate Democrats plan to move forward on major gun legislation in coming weeks...

I was over at my local gun store this afternoon when they received a shipment of AR-15 magazines. They didn’t even bother putting them on the shelf. They simply wheeled the cases out with a couple of dollies and wrote the price on the front of the boxes. All ten cases were sold by the time I left forty minutes later.

This is an outrage. Dems putting survival ahead of ‘principles’? Where is the ‘all or nothing’ attitude toward principles in Dems we are lectured about needing?

Time to call your favorite Senate Dem and demand that they include this AR ban ‘for gibby’.
Time for Senate Republicans to help O and Feinstein out and offer amendments to add this AR ban to their bill(and then vote against the bill, lets not go overboard.)

Help Dems be ‘principled’. Do it for gibby and the little ones.

Magazines contain and feed ammunition, clips are what bullets come attached together on and are jammed into a magazine with or without the clip

No it’s not semantics, they are different devices that perform different functions

Ping for later use.

Toomey lost me when he said he supported the sodomization of the US military.
I cannot vote for him again.

Well, that really does it for me. There is no place for faggots in the military and no place for women in combat. People can either take my word on that or we will continue to lose wars.

BTW, the reason we continue to lose wars is because of faggots in Washington, some Republicans included. I have no idea where real men have gone in the country.

Re: Gun Control - Professor Rummel’s stuff is always worth a look. He coined the term democide, meaning death by government. He estimates that in the twentieth century alone various governments have killed 262 million of their citizens. Most of those killed were in countries without a second amendment. His stats will surprise you.

Democide

Main article: Democide

Rummel is the creator of the term democide: “the murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder”. He has further stated: “I use the civil definition of murder, where someone can be guilty of murder if they are responsible in a reckless and wanton way for the loss of life, as in incarcerating people in camps where the may soon die of malnutrition, unattended disease, and forced labor, or deporting them into wastelands where they may die rapidly from exposure and disease.”

His research concludes that the death toll from democide is far greater than the death toll from war. After studying over 8,000 reports of government-caused deaths, he estimates that there have been 262 million victims of democide in the last century[7] and that six times as many people have died at the hands of people working for governments than have died in battle.

See link below after this teaser:

“He argues that there is a relation between political power and democide. Political mass murder grows increasingly common as political power becomes unconstrained. At the other end of the scale, where power is diffuse, checked, and balanced, political violence is a rarity. “The more power a regime has, the more likely people will be killed. This is a major reason for promoting freedom.” He concludes: “Concentrated political power is the most dangerous thing on earth.””

I too have been frustrated at trying to explain the difference. A picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks for setting the record straight, it’s obvious that a gun will not function with a ‘clip’.

What they want is a database of their enemies. They don’t give a crap what kind of weapons we have. That’s all posturing.

Ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner! That is the bottom line. They want a database for round two.

Me? I’m not going to negotiate ANYTHING!

Listen-up you socialist, liberal, ignorant FOOLS!

It's not a government-given right, it is an inalienable right!!

It's not a hunting right. It's not a target shooting right. It's not simply a self-protection right.

I have the God-given right (and responsibility) to defend myself, my family, and my possessions AND MY RIGHTS from thieves - WHATEVER kind of thief they might be!! I won't compromise. I won't compare. I won't retreat. I won't relax. I won't give up.

YOU can go ahead and do whatever you want! As for me - I KNOW FREEDOM and I won't be a slave to you or your new world order.

This will be as effective as having all criminals register as criminals!

No, they will create a whole new criminal class of honorable, law abiding citizens who failed to dot an "I" or cross a "T" with a new jumble of paperwork to fill out. Didn't Waco start over Koresh not having the right permit or some such nonsense?

You know that AR you paid $1,500 for? I’ll give you $900.

Figured this bill would bomb.

I have a Butler Hot Lips 25 mag and a Butler loader for my Ruger 22 LR. The loader was a necessity as my fingers are not large and strong like a man’s.

“I asked Impact Guns to send me e-mail notification when they get Ruger 10 -22 25 round mags. Still waiting.....”

You seriously need to eat something, even a zombie or two would put some meat on your bare bones.

Well, I have that Hot Lips one and I ordered one from the actual Ruger company website so at some time in the after life I should get that Ruger made one. I'm still waiting for boxes of 22 LR HPs that I ordered a month ago - I have no 22 lr ammo. As JRandomFreeper says, when I get that PINK rifle this week, it's a club until I find ammo.

Please eat - your bony body looks sad.

“Well, that really does it for me. There is no place for faggots in the military and no place for women in combat.”

This is the best way to have no functioning military. We have a volunteer military - how many straight men want to sign up with homosexuals and women in their fox holes? To do that would be suicide.

I am a woman and smart as hell, but no way do I have the strength of a man. I don't want him to think he has to protect me when the enemy is moving on the foxhole. I have no business being there. I'm so damn smart I could be the medic to save your life behind the lines, but my brains cannot physically fight like you guys. Why these idiots did this makes no sense except to weaken the military.

it’s still incrementalism and they’re just going to keep going for more.

best to just draw a line in the sand and oppose it altogether.

Forget 'assault weopons,' forget magazine limits, forget backgrounds checks, forget ammo anything. The bill the senate should introduce that would create the biggest degree of safety for the American people would be the Bill to Abolish all Gun Laws:

"Senate Bill A1234 stating as follows: 'A bill to repeal and abolish all previous Federal Gun Laws effective immediately.' The reasons are obvious, no explanation necessary.

Senator Reid, can we have an immediate floor vote?
