I heard about the ‘Memo’ from a MSNBC devoted office mate - he’s pissed at Obama. This is costing Obama political capital.

The level of cheap low ball scumbag political demagogue politics is at a historical apex.
We can now actually kill Americans with drones but pouring water down their throats is unamerican.

We are not actually killing Americans with drones. We are killing traitors who have turned on America.
Killing with drones is a wonderfully simple and cheap way to prosecute an asymmetric war. The fact there are combatants that were once Americans is inconsequential.
Sad truth is though the ‘republicans’ will be happy to have this power when and if they retake the WH. Frankly, neither party is worth anything. They’re all liars, cowards and thieves. They love to hate what the other side is getting away with but they love to inherit the spoils.
I agree. I have no more qualms about killing Americans who ally with Al Qaeda than I would have had about killing Americans allying with Germany or Japan during WWII. The point is Obama is a complete hypocrite about the whole thing. And the Obamatons who would have demanded Bush's head if he did it are mostly silent about Obama killing the occasional civilian along with the enemy.
You mention being hypocritical and there is some truth in that.
In my mind, there is more accurately a profound rationalization. Selected drone strikes are clean and invisible and pretty much untraceable. Drones are have become acceptable because there is none of the apparent messiness of real war.
Vietnam ended war for all time and yet it persists. Drones are war without war and lawyerly intrusion and therefore acceptable.
