If the Food and Drug Administration gets its way, your trip to the grocery store could get a tad pricier. Supermarket owners argue a pending federal food-labeling rule that stems from the new health care law would overburden thousands of grocers and convenience store owners -- to the tune of $1 billion in the first year alone. (Snip) The rule stems from an ObamaCare mandate that restaurants provide nutrition information on menus. Most in the restaurant industry were supportive of the idea, but when the FDA decided to extend the provision to also affect thousands of supermarkets

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I’m growing awfully weary of this sh*t!
It has only begun.
No problem. Enact a law prohibiting the cost from being passed along. Or get the news media to gang up on supermarkets who pass the cost along to the customers.
“The FDA says much of ObamaCare is aimed at helping Americans live healthier lives,.......”
YOU as a subject are but an asset of the Obama’s. YOU therefore must be maintained at peak efficiency to serve the Obama’s purpose. You either comply, or.........
Eat your spinach.
Everything Obama does raises the price of whatever it is he touch’s.
I went into the local Publix tonight and at the deli, they had an array of soups. The had labels with every ingredient for each soup. I heard Fox news say today that if they screw up, it can mean doing some jail time and/or paying fines. Guess what will be not worth having in the future?
Wonderful. Food prices aren’t going up fast enough already. sarc/
Exactly. And when supermarkets inevitably remove the “food service” items made in store like the soup bar, salad bar, hot foods by the pound, pizzas, etc. and switch to pre-packaged items you can bet the left will be whining about the lack of fresh food.
That helps explain the curse of King Midas.
There’s not enough profit to not pass it along.
How did the human race survive before obama?
As if our trips to the grocery store haven’t gone up in price enough already....
Grow your own. Buy local. Join the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. Screw the Feds anyway possible. If you can’t feed yourself you won’t have the strength to defend yourself.
No kidding basil, it’s only a matter of thyme.
There just isn’t anything which Obamacare cannot do. What an insane world we live in.
“enact a law” is NEVER the answer...at least in 99 percent of the cases.
Unless your law is aimed at curtailing the power of the government.
There it’s no way to force a gro store to not pass along prices. To do so would be the same as setting price controls. And that never, ever works.
Plus, if the prices aren’t passed along, then the voter doesn’t have an incentive to vote the bums out. The stores shouldn’t suffer b/c the PEOPLE elected morons. Let the people take the hit. And I say that as person who absolutely can’t afford any price increases.
To many fat arse DC bureaucrats with nuthin to do. Affirmative action babies and other numbskulls. Making $120 thousand plus each year.
So they pretend to do something useful (more useless onerous regulations) like this to protect the PUBLIK aka the SHEEPLE
What difference does it make? The law's the law.
In the name of Obamacare. Much more to come and it’s all tied back to insurance. Didn’t I read something about gun owners have to have liability insurance??
This is a huge profit point for our local organic *co-ops*. The food bar/deli area becomes a hang out with tables, there are several jobs tied to the service and, of course, it allows the market to reduce wastage.
These places all accept EBT, too.
As far as I can tell, the regular grocery stores that have prepared food already have nutritional labels posted. Packaged foods, like take and bake pizza, also have nutritional labels. Not sure how the by-the-pound items will be labeled. Sounds like a PITA.
Nanny State PING!
With all the extra time more and more Americans are experiencing being un and underemployed we will have more time to read all these nutritionals./sad-sarc
This will tear most store-made products out of local stores - manufacturers will pick up the slack and absorb the costs with pre-pack.

Thanks for the ping!
It would take an army of more than half the population of this formerly-great country to keep up with and counter the B.S. coming out of this administration.
The country still is great. We only need to brush off the horse-pucky this administration has dumped on us all.
