There seems to be a particularly strong push for secession of at least part of the territory once known as “the United States of America”. John Edwards said it out loud a few years ago, “There are two Americas”.

And they are pretty well defined. Look at the electoral map of the last election, and see how the “red” Congressional districts and counties divide up as compared to the “blue” districts and cities. This makes an excellent blueprint for what could be an amicible division.

But such a simple divorce probably could not be concluded. For now, the Imperial Washington regime has control of the money supply, the national military units, and most of the air traffic. The various state governments still have nominal control of the state militias (National Guard) and their own state police forces, plus what is in most instances the majority support from within their own states.

Plus, the localities would be well able to raise their own militias, with volunteer “minutemen” ready to take up arms and defend vast tracts of territory from the Federal incursion. I am sure the Posse Comitatus act of 1878 is still in effect, at least in a technical sense, and could potentially be invoked to prevent the assault on American citizens by the Federal military elements.

But considering how the Current Regime is perfectly happy to ignore or break any laws it does not like, or selectively take advantage of, this constraint would not be effective.

So it comes down to a rifle behind every blade of grass, a cannon behind every tree.

A wide swath of Americans LIKE their “cowboy heritage”.

Let's do the math. Ok let's assume the following: The entire Federal standing Army is in the CONUS(it is not, currently it is deployed willy nilly all over the globe)

The Posse Comitatus prevents the military from being used to enforce laws within the states.

But it says nothing about “non-military” (i.e., not members of the armed forces, that being Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) agents of [ostensibly] civil departments of government doing the same.

Case in point (the most obvious):
Department of Homeland Security.

How does Posse Comitatus apply to them?

Virtually every department and agency of government is being “militarized”. Don’t the food inspectors have their own SWAT teams now?

It may not be the military, per se, that freedom-loving Americans have to worry about.
