Is DHS Ammo For Obama's "National Security Force"?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | February 12, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Posted on 02/12/2013 5:18:39 PM PST by raptor22

Gun Control: Our future president in 2008 called for "a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military. Should the "bitter-clingers" be worried?

As Andrew Malcolm has noted on these pages, the Department of Homeland Security has been buying lots of ammo, enough by one calculation to fight the equivalent of a 24-year Iraqi War. Some have speculated about a link between the stockpiling between candidate Obama's off-prompter campaign remarks about a national security force and the stockpiling by DHS of more than 1.6 billion (with a 'b') bullets.

DHS has been buying more than bullets. As we noted in a recent editorial, DHS is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO "personal defense weapons" (PDW) — also known as "assault weapons" when owned by civilians. The request, issued on June 7, 2012, calls these AR-15 variants "select-fire" weapons, meaning they can be both semi-automatic and automatic.

Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that "have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds."

To what purpose is a civilian agency arming itself to the teeth at the same time the administration has been making war on the Second Amendment and pushing for stricter gun control measures such as universal background checks, while others, such as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, hint at outright confiscation?

To me this is somewhat of a non issue.

Then why is this the first time ever that this much ammo was ordered?

This is a little bit more important than some stupid Office of Diversity created by a hate whitey homo muslim.

It is time to mustard muster in a legitimate militia.

What is a legitimate militia, how does it form. and to whom does it report.

If ammo makers don’t get into the fight they will be out of business when all the guns are taken.

I think they are taking the existing ammo off the shelves ahead of an order for microstamped / registered ammo sales.

Because Lake City does not make hollow-point, non-Geneva-Convention ammo; just copper-jacketed steel rifle ball ammo and copper-clad round-nose pistol ammo? Only civilian ammo mfrs make hollow-point fragmenting ammo to kill civilians with? Hmmmm?

How many DHS agents actually carry guns? Seems to me like a lot of the DHS folks are pencil pushers.

As much as I’d like to avoid such a contentious engagement, 7000+ against millions...

I kinda like our odds...

Even with their 16 million cases of ammo to go through, I just don’t think they’ll get much of a chance to use that much against us...

The “average liberal” doesn’t envision himself as doing the fighting.

For a liberal, the whole point of establishing the [police] State is to use that State to murder those that resist you.

They envision “the government” taking care of these “rebels”. This is the whole emotional side when discussing the Civil War - they loved the idea of the federal army killing, raping, and “scortched-earthing” the people that dared rebel.

Colorado Anti-NDAA Bill Heads To Committee

February 12, 2013 By Breaking News 1 Comment

Colorado’s “anti-NDAA” legislation was first introduced and assigned to the House State, Military, and Veteran Affairs Committee last month. Now, on Feb. 13, the bill will reach its first hearing.

Colorado’s bill is another in a string of similar bills in other states introduced this legislative session to combat and stop certain provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

Similar to Washington State’s legislation, Colorado’s version focuses on the problems with Section 1021 of the 2012 NDAA that purportedly authorizes the inclusion of U.S. citizens in its definition of “covered persons,” i.e. suspected terrorists, who can be indefinitely detained by the military without charge or trial.

I disagree with your assessment, Stormdog.

I believe Obama is keeping our military mired in battles across the globe to justify the creation of a new civilian force that will be backed by taxpayer dollars and consist wholly of Obamabots and weekend-warrior types who become cops and think they’re above everyone else because they strap on a duty belt and a .40 everyday for work.

The military will be so entrenched and weakened due to excessive and unending deployments that the true patriots, the men and women who take their oath seriously, won’t be able to come back to defend those of us who need their knowledge and training in urban warfare and tactical strategies to beat the thugs who will be part of Obama’s civilian defense force.

I don't think the average liberal has what it takes to stay in a fight. They'll be happy with marching, flashy uniforms and catchy slogans. When it gets up close and personal with a pissed off patriot they'll wilt.

You're missing the point. Without patriots working and producing to fill the tax coffers, liberals would almost all starve to death. They would be fighting for their very survival.

“...We’re safe, they’ll shoot themselves. In the face!!!...”

Don’t count on it. That’s not who we’d be up against.

There’s plenty of folks wearing badges and/or uniforms who will gladly drop hammer on citizens if ordered to, without a second thought.

Never underestimate the enemy, friend.

Yes, but that observation is not as fun as theorizing about some nefarious conspiracy. The horse is already out of the barn on this one, there’s really no point to trying to get people to be sensible on this topic.

At 1.6 billion rounds

That’s two 50 round boxes of ammo each month for twelve months for 1.3 million people.

How many people in the DHS are issued weapons? Over a million?

Or if we spread that over the five year contract that’s just over 250,000.

Still seems like a lot to me, but I don’t really know how many armed “officers” they have.

DHS would be supplying ammo for the US Marshall’s service, Coast Guard, DEA, Customs and Border Patrol, BATFE, Secret Service... And a dozen or so other agencies. It could easily be over 250,000 people with issued weapons. A couple boxes of practice ammo a month and the math works out.

I love a good conspiracy as much as the next guy, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Homeland Security graduates first Corps of Homeland Youth

October 7, 2012. Vicksburg. The federal government calls them FEMA Corps. But they conjure up memories of the Hitler Youth of 1930’s Germany. Regardless of their name, the Dept of Homeland Security has just graduated its first class of 231 Homeland Youth. Kids, aged 18-24 and recruited from the President’s AmeriCorp volunteers, they represent the first wave of DHS’s youth corps, designed specifically to create a full time, paid, standing army of FEMA Youth across the country.

On September 13, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security graduated its first class of FEMA Corps first-responders. While the idea of having a volunteer force of tens of thousands of volunteers scattered across the country to aid in times of natural disasters sounds great, the details and timing of this new government army is somewhat curious, if not disturbing...

“...Kids, aged 18-24...”

Kids???

I see Thugs with government commissions (in times of crisis/disasters) with attitudes, expecting authoritative entitlements, and guns/ammo aimed right at us...

When they are given the chance to somehow “control” a population in a disater area, keep us pinned up instead of letting us evac, setting up checkpoints, warrantless searches (which the government is already tickling the peoples feet with now...

I see a conflict brewing where no one wins in the end...

But hey, if it does come to such a conflict...There certainly WILL be a significant surprtise because they are hedging their bets that we will not fight back...

What a poor position for them to be in...hehehe

I wonder if Obama wants the National Civilian Security Force to be similar to the Waffen SS?

After watching this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ3QXxmcvss
about them I learned that they competed directly with the regular army (Wehrmacht).

Quote from the documentary (starting around the 3:20 mark):
“The head of the SS - Heinrich Himmler - wanted a unique, new force. An army of ideologically committed elite troops to rival the regular army.”

Obama did say, “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
