It’s nice to have a happy ending to this otherwise sad story.
Who are they kidding? It’s against the law to steal so there has to be something wrong with this article. Nobody would steal anything in detroit (middle east comes to America) now would they? Of course not.
Hate to break it to ya’, bud. It ain’t Middle Easterners stealing the copper.
The fruits of Democrap economic policies in action. Coming soon to a city near you.
Can we all agree that it is racist to try to prevent the theft of the copper wire?
Roger that but the last time we flew through there, I thought we were in islamabad. On the other hand, the guy that got fried wasn’t too bright. Well, he was for a few seconds.
Detroit looks more like Lord of the Flies every day.But that’s to be expected when Rat politicians and Marxist unions march hand in hand for 40 years.
Hire some snipers.
Your State of Ma has a few cities not far behind, Ergo Downtown Springfield, I know both Detwaa and Springfield, and Springfield is coming right up along side Detwaa...
“Detroit looks more like Lord of the Flies every day.”
More like the abandoned kingdoms in “The Lord Of The Rings”; you can see vestiges/ruins where great men once built great things, and now it is reverting to what was there before those great men came (deer, squirrels, etc.).
Shoot them. When the damage done exceeds by magnitudes the value wrought, it is a crime against society, and has to be stopped by any means.
Detroit is a City on Death’s door, thanks to Rat politicians and Marxist unions.
This should be tagged “Third-World News”.

Baltimore comes immediately to mind.
” a 34-year-old man was electrocuted at Putnam and Lawton, near I-96, while attempting to steal copper wire from a transformer...”
Always make sure the power is off first. If a transformer is warm and hummin’, chances are its live. :-/
Imagine what the thieves could do if they put that much effort into something legitimate.

Good idea. Done.
A few years ago some college students stole a bunch of stop signs for dorm decorations. This resulted in a couple of fatal collisions. The students were charged with and convicted of murder. I dont recall the degree but it was probably pled to manslaughter. They went to prison. It occurs to me that any fatalities along the dark sections could and should be prosecuted as murder. Perhaps a few high-profile prosecutions might stem the tide.
When the cost of copper was really high, I gave all the scraps from a building I built to one of the laborers. The scrap people wouldnt buy it. I had to provide him with a note and a copy of my receipt so he could sell it. The buyer was afraid to be prosecuted for receiving stolen goods. Perhaps thats another way to stop the thefts. I know it works with pawn shops as they used to be the fences for all the local thefts. As far as I know pawn shop fencing has stopped too.
the guy that got fried wasnt too bright
Pretty good pun (BRIGHT), if intended. I wouldn’t be surprised if the city was somehow sued for his “untimely” death.
I think people would be rather surprised it they took a detailed look at the numbers on muslims in the USA.
The last I read, Michigan ranked 6th in total muslim citizens with California, New York, and New Jersey leading the list. Even Texas made the top 10, coming in at 8th.
Detroit is a whipping boy but in the end I think they’ll come out on top because of the very things people ignore. There is a lot of high dollar property being bought at bargain prices along the river. If I were looking to invest in a future, I wouldn’t be looking at Chicago, NY, or LA. I’d be looking at Detroit because the state is actually trying to ease restrictions and taxes on business.
It’s a shame to see what has happened to Detroit, it used be an incredible town back in the late 50’s early 60’s.
I used to work on the border between Detroit and Dearborn. It’s not “politically correct” [chortle] to observe on FR, but the ME’s saved Dearborn from the rampaging horde.
That’s like saying Hitler avoided a Communist takeover of Germany in the 1930s.
If they’re jonesing for their next hit of meth, their brains aren’t working too well and they’d never equate ‘hum = live electricity = big zap’.
“You’ll never take me alive, Copper!”
That pun was utterly dreadful and I congratulate you for it, FRiend.
If you haven’t yet read the comments posted by readers on this article (published by a CBS affiliated outlet) then you might want to check ‘em out. Some are hilarious but most accurately describe the pathetic state of the city — and the reasons for it.
I’ve been told that many of the new small businesses in Dearborn are owned by Christians who escaped persecution in their native ME lands.
Lord of the Flies was a work of fiction.
If you want a comparison for Detroit's downward trajectory Zimbabwe is the best example. Zimbabwe is a real life model of what is happening in Detroit. The only difference is that Zimbabwe does not have billions of taxpayer dollars from honest Americans every year to fund their theft and corruption. Zimbabwe also doesn't have white suburbs its residents can repeatedly rob.
There’s plenty to dislike about the muslims but they definitely aren’t Detroit’s biggest problem.
There is a strong contingent of Chaldeans in the Detroit area. And interestingly, they are not averse to working behind bulletproof glass.
I believe Chaldeans are the single largest group of arab people in the Detroit area.
I haven’t been to Dearborn in a while, but I’m fairly certain that the streetlights are still on, the houses are still nicely-kept, and the restaurants still fantastic.
“... comments posted by readers on this article ... some are hilarious ...”
Yeah. I like the one about the guy training to be an electrician failing OJT.
Unfortunately it’s not because they are dying off, just moving on to other lands to ravish.
Just a suggestion, but instead of making moves to insulate and protect the copper, perhaps take the opposite tact, and make them totally within reach. Might take a few sensational headlines, but should dry up the well of thieves eventually...
True, wasn’t thinking of the drug angle.
The thought that comes to my mind is why aren’t they also taking the aluminum light poles.
Years ago in West Palm Beach thieves cut the aluminum poles down with chain saws and then into convenient lengths to haul away.
“Unfortunately its not because they are dying off, just moving on to other lands to ravish.”
They’re also contracepting/aborting themselves into oblivion (in a similar manner to whites, but starting with a lower population). Here in NJ many “black” areas have become Hispanic (to the point where mayors and other elected officials are brown instead of black), and I work with many welfare-queen-wannabes that only have one bastard (because under the 1996 welfare reform cash-for-kids ended - no mo’ money for mo’ chilrun). They have the one just to get on the rolls, but that’s it - and the one eventually grows up, forcing the mom into the workplace. Hispanics passed blacks in numbers 10 years earlier than anticipated - in 2000 rather than 2010 - due in no small part to the welfare reform.
Remember Al Sharpton insisting they weren’t popping out kids for money? Guess they were...
Intended. ZZZZZZTTTTTT! Probably the city was sued for his future earnings in his chosen field whatever that may have been. Obviously not as an electrician. City will now have to turn off the power at dusk so nobody else is harmed by that evil electricity. We must put an end to all this electrical violence.
I am quite familiar with Springfield...far more so than with Detroit. My sister lives near Springfield and my niece is a pediatric nurse in a Springfield hospital. In addition to Springfield we have several others..Lawrence,for example. What all these cities have in common is having been run by Rats for decades.I must say, however, that although I don't know Detroit well (attended the Auto Show twice) I think that Springfield, bad as it is,will take a while to catch up.
With God as my judge...I have seen cities/towns in Asia,Africa and South America that look more "civilized" than the parts of Detroit *I've* seen.
He was also delighted for a few seconds. Wonder if he drove a volts-wagon to the crime scene.
I like to read all these current events.
‘Detwaa’? Isn’t that how Detroit is really supposed to be pronounced because of the city’s French origins?
Detroit still has electricity?
