JOHNSTOWN - Local legislators are starting to take official measures to show their opposition to the state's new gun-control law.
Fulton County supervisors this week unanimously agreed to endorse a law-enforcement position statement that calls the new regulations "unfair" and "overly restrictive."
Montgomery County supervisors are considering a similar resolution...
...
The 1,500-word position statement was drafted and unanimously approved last month by 52 members of the New York State Sheriff's Association, including Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey, Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato and Hamilton County Sheriff Karl Abrams.
...
... (Sheriff) Lorey presented it to the Board of Supervisors' Public Safety Committee, which unanimously approved it, setting up Monday's vote by the full board. The Public Safety Committee in Montgomery County also passed a similar measure, and a resolution is under way in Hamilton County.
...
(Northampton Town Supervisor) Kemper said there was no debate among supervisors Monday - only widespread disgust for the law and the way it was passed.
...
"The big picture is big brother is taking over your personal rights, gaining everything you have a right to," she said.
(Sheriff) Lorey... said Monday at the Fulton County Republican Club's Lincoln Day dinner that this is a big issue that won't go away. He followed that up Tuesday with a short speech at a gun rally in Albany.
"I've got a simple message: I'm not coming to take your guns. Not today. Not ever," he shouted through a megaphone, adding, "Fulton County is a come-and-take-it county, not a bend-over county."
The supervisors' resolution "demands that state legislators reconvene to appeal and/or amend" provisions of the law that "violate the rights of citizens as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution."

That's stupid, invite them to your county for a good meal... at the end, arrest them under the various laws they have violated.
Conspiracy against Rights Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law Treason -- (They are depriving the militia of the State of New York of weapons the military would use, thereby giving aid to the enemies of the states.)
I will never go to New York again, nor will I buy anything that might be made there. Same with New Jersey.
My mouth is .44 inches wide.
This is starting to play out as many FReepers have surmised - it will be rural counties vs fascist big cities and their crony, criminal politicians.
Did you hear what the idiot president said yesterday in Chicago?
Here I’m paraphrasing:
“There were uh some 400 people um killed in Chicago last year.
Um that’s uh like a Sandy hook every 4 months.”
THAT WAS WHAT THE IDIOT SAID!!!!
Saw this on the Saturday Today show this morning. No one else saw this?
What a buffoon.
That is how it seems to be shaping up.
This area of upstate NY (along both sides of the Mohawk River) has always been a hotbed of anti-Royalist, patriotic sentiment. These are rural people who really, really distrust and loathe the large urban areas, and for good reason. Over the years they have been heavily taxed and regulated and essentially been thrust into increasing poverty for the good pleasure of the corrupt city politicians and their parasite masses. Their once thriving industries and farms have been shut down, gutted, and impoverished by burdensome regulations and taxes. These are heavily Republican areas, but greatly outnumbered by the teeming Liberals downstate. Remington Arms are made at Ilion, right in the center of this region.
The Tryon County Militia was instrumental in the Revolutionary War battles in upstate New York. They suffered 70% casualties in the Battle of Oriskany, but stopped the cutting of NY in pieces by the British. It appears they are starting to "muster" again.
hopefully the rural counties contain those crooks to their districts...
Threaten them with arrest for treason if they set foot into their jurisdiction
“...”I’ve got a simple message: I’m not coming to take your guns. Not today. Not ever,” he shouted through a megaphone, adding, “Fulton County is a come-and-take-it county, not a bend-over county.”...
Stand tall, Sheriff. Good on ya.
I think it’d be interesting to hear the liberals talk behind closed doors. Do they know what they’re doing? Do they think they’ll come out of it alive?
“It appears they [upstate NY’ers] are starting to “muster” again.”
We’re doing the best we can with what we’ve got to work with. We WILL need all the support we can get. Please don’t write us off just because we’re from NY.
Added.
What percentage of county sheriffs are like this?
This is a good opportunity for jury nullification. Conservatives must serve on juries and nullify these laws.
Maricopa County and Cochise County Sheriffs in AZ have both said the Feds can go and sit on Cactus.
Like what? arclight on albany?
he shouted through a megaphone, adding, “Fulton County is a come-and-take-it county”
When the sheriff starts saying “molon labe”, things will get interesting.
To piss the libs off eve more, he should have raised a AR-15 above his head.
Thanks Gritty.
He was promised the job wouldn’t include any Math?
The people of NY should be in Albany with tar and feathers weeks ago.
Sadly, NY seems to be way beyond saving when it comes to gun rights. Time for conservative, wait, strike that, time for non-Communist residents of NY to start the exodus before it gets to the point where they face massive lawsuits for everything they own just for using a gun to stop intruders. Maybe they can organize it so they spread out to swing states and use their popular votes to help garner the electoral votes needed to help elect genuine American candidates for president.
I moved out of the city a while back. Still work there unfortunately, but work is work. My sister moved as well. For the past few years she’s been wondering what will happen when it at hits the fan, what will the folks in the cities do? We live in Ga, nor far from where the woman defended herself and her kids by shooting an intruder 5x. He lived unfortunately. Anyway, she found these two pieces: one is a fictional essay the other is not.

Might shed some light that there are many, many folks that are just as worried about the way things are playing out.
And for your entertainment, take a look at how some others think things may play out:

God bless you upstate New Yorker’s. We are here to SUPPORT YOU in ALL YOUR EFFORTS and we cheer you, and can learn from you as you forge ahead and muster.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
“The people of NY should be in Albany with tar and feathers weeks ago.”
We were there, 3000 strong and loud Patriots at the steps of the Capital. And yes, I saw folks with tar & feather signs.
In the Finger Lakes we are forming the “United Gun Owners of New York.” which will educate the public, contact officilas, and interface with other organizations across the state. No one is taking this lying down, they are starting to organize. This organization is taking the peaceful, lawful approach for now and doesn’t want any radical statements from members ... for now. But if anything goes bad and state officials start trying to enforce registration and confiscation, a loose organization like ours could quickly coalesce and resist.
AMEN and God Bless you all.
United Gun Owners of New York.
