Measures target state’s new gun-control law (NY SAFE Act)

JOHNSTOWN - Local legislators are starting to take official measures to show their opposition to the state's new gun-control law.

Fulton County supervisors this week unanimously agreed to endorse a law-enforcement position statement that calls the new regulations "unfair" and "overly restrictive."

Montgomery County supervisors are considering a similar resolution...

...

The 1,500-word position statement was drafted and unanimously approved last month by 52 members of the New York State Sheriff's Association, including Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey, Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato and Hamilton County Sheriff Karl Abrams.

...

... (Sheriff) Lorey presented it to the Board of Supervisors' Public Safety Committee, which unanimously approved it, setting up Monday's vote by the full board. The Public Safety Committee in Montgomery County also passed a similar measure, and a resolution is under way in Hamilton County.

...

(Northampton Town Supervisor) Kemper said there was no debate among supervisors Monday - only widespread disgust for the law and the way it was passed.

...

"The big picture is big brother is taking over your personal rights, gaining everything you have a right to," she said.

(Sheriff) Lorey... said Monday at the Fulton County Republican Club's Lincoln Day dinner that this is a big issue that won't go away. He followed that up Tuesday with a short speech at a gun rally in Albany.

"I've got a simple message: I'm not coming to take your guns. Not today. Not ever," he shouted through a megaphone, adding, "Fulton County is a come-and-take-it county, not a bend-over county."

The supervisors' resolution "demands that state legislators reconvene to appeal and/or amend" provisions of the law that "violate the rights of citizens as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution."

Sadly, NY seems to be way beyond saving when it comes to gun rights. Time for conservative, wait, strike that, time for non-Communist residents of NY to start the exodus before it gets to the point where they face massive lawsuits for everything they own just for using a gun to stop intruders. Maybe they can organize it so they spread out to swing states and use their popular votes to help garner the electoral votes needed to help elect genuine American candidates for president.

I moved out of the city a while back. Still work there unfortunately, but work is work. My sister moved as well. For the past few years she’s been wondering what will happen when it at hits the fan, what will the folks in the cities do? We live in Ga, nor far from where the woman defended herself and her kids by shooting an intruder 5x. He lived unfortunately. Anyway, she found these two pieces: one is a fictional essay the other is not.

Might shed some light that there are many, many folks that are just as worried about the way things are playing out.

And for your entertainment, take a look at how some others think things may play out:

“The people of NY should be in Albany with tar and feathers weeks ago.”

We were there, 3000 strong and loud Patriots at the steps of the Capital. And yes, I saw folks with tar & feather signs.

In the Finger Lakes we are forming the “United Gun Owners of New York.” which will educate the public, contact officilas, and interface with other organizations across the state. No one is taking this lying down, they are starting to organize. This organization is taking the peaceful, lawful approach for now and doesn’t want any radical statements from members ... for now. But if anything goes bad and state officials start trying to enforce registration and confiscation, a loose organization like ours could quickly coalesce and resist.
