Sure. My son will be choosing between TCU, SMU, or Baylor.

They have their loonies of course but such are a small fraction of the students. They have a few loopy professors as well but the overall school culture is conservative and, if you’re a man of faith, Christian.

I do agree with the author’s point about universities not necessarily being worth the expense.

We’ve been exploring colleges for our kids since last year and I’d recommend a lot of them in South as well.

“Rocketmag” — are you an aero engineer as well? So am I.

And you can easily earn 50K per year driving a TAXI, I have a friend who was a contractor and with the planned housing decline was out of work, and went to work driving a TAXI for another friend of ours. And yes he makes between 40 and 50k. All these fine people with their advanced degree in Self Esteem Awareness, who bask in the glory of the day it was their turn to be Student of the Month while admiring their Lesbian Dance Theory Diversity Award will simply be POOR and Indebted to the Government and the Banksters their entire lives. And no I don’t feel sorry for them, they deserve it.

Well, looks like it for sure for higher education, the scam running now, by the Leftists.

With on line courses, etc.....It’s coming.

....And, wait until that student loan debt bubble starts to really bubble. So many are in so much trouble over their horrendous debt, with so little to show for it. And the penalties for falling behind...read up on it if you are unaware....It’s beyond belief.

I imagine as Obama is exposed (I can smell the msm thinking of saving their sorry arses and deciding to “report” again...after all each has a story they’ve been sitting on for 5 years...), he will turn to this group and squak about “forgiving” the loans. The Occupy Crowd has been demanding that one since day 1. Those Gender Studies Degrees at $150,000 just aren’t paying off like they used to.

Barry will try this buy off, then when his numbers keep falling and the scandals force hearings he’ll go to the only real talent he’s ever had: Community Agitating.

It’s going to get very ugly by the time this little fraud is ejected from the WH.

It would be easier and cheaper for employers to able to use their own selection criteria, such as general aptitude tests, but those are racist.

You're darn tootin' it is (/s.) Well, at least the courts say it is. That's one of the reasons that there is such an emphasis on "higher education."

You see, this whole thing started with a Supreme Court decision (Griggs v. Duke Power) in 1971. The court held that Mr. Griggs, an employee of the company, was being discriminated against (he was black, but you know that) by the administration of paper tests by Duke Power.

As a consequence, firms could not do that. So, they went for the next best thing: they required that certain new employees hold a college degree, which supposedly meant they had a certain degree of intelligence (not always true!).

When I graduated in 1966, the percentage of the U.S. population aged 25 and higher, was around 6 percent. Today, it's nudging 30 percent. Interesting, isn't it?

Sorry for the double post. It acted as though the first attempt failed. I backed out, checked the thread and nothing from me was there. So, I tried again, and this is the result.

The REAL genius in their scam though was their incredible success in convincing 95% of employers not to even interview candidates who did not have a worthless diploma from one of their Potemkin institutes.

I tell my 30-year old son who graduated from a Liberal Arts college in Oregon to pack up and go to work in ND all the time. He can’t seem to figure out why a head full of socialist slogans won’t land him anything better than Walmart.

Pathetic rant: long on the obvious flaws, but short on solutions. Worse, it does nothing to address the bigger problem that is k-12. Liberal arts schools couldn’t make much of such crappy students even if they so desired.

If you want to have a real effect on Academia and already have a Master’s degree, then go to work for them. At least 1/3 of courses taught at Texas public universities are taught by part time (adjunct) instructors, and the administration of my two schools are looking to change that to 2/3.

Every student has to go through a certain number of basic courses, and those courses are generally taught by the adjuncts. My boss at one of the campuses I teach at has asked me twice if I know anyone who might be qualified to teach Computer Science or Information Technology. The word is that they have not had a single qualified applicant for a year.

What would happen if every student was taught their basic courses by a qualified adjunct who also was a conservative and who would put a conservative spin on their course? More importantly, when the students come by and ask for advice (and if you act reasonably interested in them, they will ask), you get to give them good, Godly, conservative information.

The job has to be done. If you can spare three or more hours per week, look into becoming an adjunct at your local college. The pay isn’t bad, and you can make a difference.

Dear Lord. Could there possibly be a more useless (or expensive) degree than that one? I can't imagine what the person coming out educated in that "discipline" would be like.

Oh, wait a minute. Yes I can. There are plenty of examples. Any "woman" employed by the 0bama Regime would do. They are just as nasty, warped, and perverted as I could possibly imagine...

There are far too many graduates and too few jobs

I used to work for a large financial firm. Starting in the financial slide of about 2008, they were able to hire MBA's to work the phones, at $12-14 / hour.

The lady VP who ran Ops loved it. She got her pick of people, and was able to choose the smart, motivated ones. And, more often than not, they were promoted up through the ranks.

But, I must say, the kids that were brought in .... who had been fed a steady diet of - "You're SPECIAL!! You're a (capital)M - (capital)B - (capital)A!!!" ... and who expected to be shown a corner office, personal masseuse, and 6 figure salary .... got a cold bucket of water thrown on them.

The smarter ones realized that they just had to pay their dues, and appropriate perks would follow. The less-intelligent ones, generally didn't last long.
