The elevation Wednesday of Argentine Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio as the Roman Catholic Church’s 266th pope and the first from Latin America brought cheers across South America but also served as a reminder of the church’s role during the region’s dark days of dictatorship in the latter half of the 20th century.

More recently, Bergoglio has been known for his confrontations with Argentina’s last two presidents, the husband and wife team of Nestor and Cristina Kirchner.

Yes. I’ve heard similar accounts of helicopter drops from Honduras. Bad things happened in Argentina, but it’s ridiculous for the progressives to try and claim the pope supported the disappearing of teenagers or the murder of innocents.
Also, people have to take into account that none of the military juntas came close to the bodycount racked up by Che Guevara and Castro. A lot of times, it came down to the lesser of two evils, and the Soviet backed revolutionaries were worse.

And did you ever read the writings of “Lazlo Toth?” Also a scream!

I did, and I think it's great he eventually got a letter back from Richard Nixon.

Seriously? He was born in 1936 before the Nazis fled anywhere. Thanks for playing.

Born in ‘36?

During the ‘30s and ‘40s Argentina’s political and intellectual climates were very receptive to Nazi ideas. A lot of Nazi gold entered it during and after the war.

Videla and Galtieri clearly have a lot to answer for. The people STILL haven’t forgiven/forgotten the govt’s heavy-handedness. I believe the mothers of the desaparecidos still do their monthly protest parade at the Casa Rosada. Raul Alfonsin had a real mess to clean up when he was elected in 1983.

>>Don’t hate or worship the Pope.
OK *inhale* one more time. Are you here to test my patience? The Lord was never one to suffer fools (John 2:12-25).

No one WORSHIPS the Pope. He is VENERATED as Jesus’ direct representative to His Church.

>>Never seen the word Pope in any Bible.<<

So which ORIGINAL language did you use for your exhaustive study? Most scholars go with Aramaic but for a good one-off Greek will do. Latin is more flowery but a few centuries from the original. But I’ll accept that as an answer. So which was it: Aramaic, Greek or Latin?

That notwithstanding, did you READ the last post where I gave you exact Biblical references that indeed “mention” the Pope. Peter is not only “mentioned” he is CALLED OUT as the first Pope. Again, this is a translation thing so for this one you can use your Latin to find the MANY references to “Pope” in the Bible.

>>Jesus, YES<<

And, it follows you therefore attend the church Jesus Himself founded (RCC for those of you following at home).

Next time you pray, Pray to Jesus.<<

Where in the Bible — you may now switch back to English and even use that horribly mangled, Oh So British, King James version (but you can post your answer in any of the original tongues of which I referenced) — does it say to pray TO JESUS?? If He was here He would kick your sorry butt up and down the sidewalk! We pray to GOD! Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity! We are to pray to Him that way (Mat 6:9, John 14:14, John 15:2, et seq) He is One as and with The Word (John 1:1) When reading in Greek, pay special attention to the Logos in this one!

If you are going to use the Bible as a source, do the following:

1) Read the Bible in the original languages (or those of the first Quincentennial).

2) Be accurate and cite sources properly.

3) LIVE with the implications of your sources.

Your entire post (and all that preceded it) are shown to be spiritually bankrupt and factually incorrect.

Pray to God tonight to give you both grace and enlightenment.

And Thank Him for exposing your foolishness to a friendly crowd instead of those would cast stones (John 8:7).

He was the first to go and, like so many beloved, too darn young. The second (IIRC) was the MOST liked guy on the set: Richard Deacon (Mel Cooley).

And yes, he and Morey were all but inseparable off camera!

IOW, you refuse knowledge.

Typical Catholic-basher.

At least be honest. Low-information theology.

I have already shown you the factual error of your statement.

What are you, a liberal? When corrected, Conservatives say “thank you, I was wrong.” Only progressives keep repeating falsehoods in the face of facts.

Wow, the Pope said Jesus twice in a Prayer!

Jesus the only way to Heaven! Twice.

Never heard one Priest or Bishop all day on TV say Jesus.

If you can't see something wrong with that, You are blind.

Take your Catholic-bashing away.

Pray for guidance, and I will pray for your tarnished soul.

How is telling the truth about not hearing about Jesus, bashing RCC?

I love Catholics, wish they would read their Bibles,

Glad that most are pro life and most are against gay marriage. Real Religion is all about Jesus.

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

PERIOD!
