Rick Perry Slams McCain, Romney At CPAC, Says They Aren't Conservative

"The popular media narrative is that this country has shifted away from conservative ideals, as evidenced by the last two presidential elections. That’s what they think. That’s what say. That might be true if Republicans had actually nominated conservative candidates in 2008 and 2012," Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) said in his address at CPAC this afternoon. Perry also slammed President Obama for undocumented illegal immigration being released from detention centers due to sequestration cuts. "This president's posture, it'd be laughable if he hadn't taken it one step too far, dangerously releasing criminals onto our streets to make a political point," Perry told the crowd at CPAC. "When you have a federally-sponsored jailbreak, and don't get confused, that's exactly what that is -- when you've had a federally-sponsored jailbreak, you've crossed the line from politics of spin to politics as a craven form of cynicism."

Perry is my Governor and was my choice. Too bad he was recovering from back surgery during the debates. Those who castigated him would be so happy if he were President now!!

Go, Rick! I’m sure he almost choked when he had to endorse Romney last fall.

Perry was my candidate until he dropped out, and I’d support him again.

I have no illusions about his positions.

Cannot argue the topics you mentioned.

I fully understand where he came from. I grew up in the same spot. But I have always been GOP. Never Dem. This was very very unusual here, for valid reasons when the area was settled in the 1880’s.

Rick honestly loves our military personnel. His wife nursed my grandfather before he died and I will always be indebted to her for the kind treatment he received.

I have never met Rick. He was a few years younger than I was. I know both of his parents.

Their family is made of good people.

Yep, and he got booed when he endorsed Duhurst at the TX GOP Convention in Ft. Worth.

I don’t think he is a bad person or ‘evil’. I have argued loudly against him here based on his policy positions which I believe the facts show to be dangerous.

There is a lot to like about the guy.And I do believe he loves his country. But in a purely political context I believe the bad far outweighs the good in it’s ramifications.

Yeah, it’s easy to be against letting drunk illegals out of jail, but unfortunately Perry’s not trustworthy on illegal immigration himself.

Cruz is about the only pol in Washington, at least, who is still speaking out against amnesty.

Our dilemma is the people who “we need” to be running the nation will not run for public office because of what the “slime” in the press will do to them. And because of the vermin in both political parties that single our the “real people” for personal destruction.

It is not right, it is what it is.

That’s the truth. Which is why a collapse is the only thing we can look forward to. At least then, the survivors have a chance at rebuilding a world where liberals are treated as the criminals they are.

Yes, I am that cynical.

I want the most conservative that I can get. I refuse to vote for someone in a primary just because they are the most conservative. They must also be able to win.

I supported Perry at the caucus because I thought he had the record of accomplishment but not enough others agreed with me.

Now we have this ????????Obama. I can't even describe how I feel about him. And it may not even be possible to have a real good indication of who can win. We'll see but you can bet I'll go for the most conservative I think that can win.

When will the GOP have the guts to start using the “T” word whenever they refer to Traitorobama?

Some Dem with a conscience will probably have to break ranks and say it first. Give it about a year, when 0bamaCare goes into full effect, and it just might happen. Kucinich isn’t in office anymore but he might do it.
