Gov. Martinez to attend Pope Francis’ inaugural Mass (others Biden, Pelosi, DeGioia)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | March 15, 2013 | Dan Boyd

Gov. Susana Martinez [R-NM] will join a four-member U.S. delegation that will attend the celebratory Mass for Pope Francis next week, according to the White House.

Other members of the delegation include U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Georgetown University President John DeGioia.

Martinez’s office just released this statement from the first-term Republican governor:

“It is my honor to represent New Mexico and our nation as a member of the U.S. delegation traveling to Rome for the inaugural Mass for His Holiness Pope Francis. As a lifelong Roman Catholic, I feel deeply privileged and humbled to have the opportunity to meet the new pope. The Catholic Church plays a vital role in the lives of New Mexicans and more than 1 billion people across the globe. I look forward to congratulating His Holiness on behalf of my fellow citizens and celebrating the inauguration of the first Pope from the Americas.”

I don't know about the others but Martinez divorced and remarried. Pelosi supports abortion. Must have been better choices.

If everything I’ve read is true about our new Pope, these four should NOT receive the body during the communion procession. I hope Pope Francis starts making examples, I REALLY do!

In fact, I wonder if this isn’t even understood by DC as a kind of insult to the new pope?

(Of course, the VP might go; but the Senate Minority Leader—especially one who is so outspoken on violating Catholic doctrine?)

Just another party for the Washington “elite” to see and be seen. Catholics of convenience.

Any serious pro-life Catholic would refuse to join a delegation that includes pro-abortion “Catholics.”

There ARE no Catholics in public life who would refuse to join these pro-abortion “Catholics” in this delegation.

Which means: Serious, principled opposition to abortion—i.e., that treats pro-aborts with the scorn and disgust they deserve as mass murderers—does not (yet) exist in public life in America.

agree, I only hope the Pope talks about what marriage is and it;s certainly not two men who think they shoudl marry because of feces sex.

I hope he mentions how world leaders have called themselves Catholics but then push anti Catholic agendas

I hope this is an outside mass because I would not wish to be inside with her when the roof collapses upon the congregation.

Boy, I'm glad I”m not a RC, With people Like that are my Bother & sisters.

Sarah Palin got saved in a Assembly of GOD Church.
They worship Jesus there.

When Billy Graham dies, Jesus name will be lifted up 100s of times.

After hour of hearing of the new Pope, Never heard the Name of Jesus.

Big religion reminds me of Obama’s Government, out of touch with true religion.

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

PERIOD!

Of course they know it is an insult. It is precisely why this delegation was put together. It is a show of force against the Roman Catholic Church.

As someone else said, I hope...nay I pray...this group is denied communion. The political ramifications of them receiving communion “from the Pope,” would be devastating to the American Catholic Church.

Pope Francis has dealt with fascists before and I hope God gives him the wisdom to deal with them on the world stage.

Pelosi and Biden both support abortion and homosexual marriage. Neither should be in the US delegation to Pope Francis’s inaugural Mass. And neither should Martinez if she is divorced and remarried. No idea who DeGioia is.

Are there no practicing Catholics in public life?

how do you know Martinez did not get her marriage annulled?? My wife was married to a crack head who sold her jewelry and a car they owed money on to feed his habit...she stayed with him through rehab- until he stole a car from rehab so he could go and buy crack....she then said she had enough (and btw- she reached out to his parents- the father being a local chief of police- and they did nothing)...

my wife had the marriage annulled- probably her fault for hooking up with the guy anyway- and we got married 12 years later...

Might as well send John Kerry too. He’s as Catholic as the rest of them. And he’s a war hero.

Actually, I'm hoping and praying that Nancy sees the error of her ways, and repents, both to save her from Hell and to save us in this world from the horrors she promotes.

If she repents, I'll forgive her, because that is exactly what Jesus told us to do in the Lord's Prayer. Remember, forgiveness is a two-way street with a twist:

"forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive who trespass against us."

It may have been. From what I have been to quickly locate, she was married to a fellow law school graduate for three years before they split. Since 1991 she has been married to her current husband, Chuck Franco who has a son by his previous marriage.
