Natural Conservatives? Really?
Center for Imm Studies ^ | March 11, 2013 | James R. Edwards Jr

Ever heard the claim that Latinos are "natural conservatives"? The person repeating the conventional wisdom of the Beltway apparently hasn't examined the evidence.

That's why, for Republicans, to buy that canard spells disaster. The most recent evidence comes from a new Latino Decisions poll. It shows two-thirds of Latinos support "comprehensive immigration reform" that includes special immigration privileges for foreign-born gays and lesbians.

Of those Hispanic respondents who favored giving homosexual couples the same immigration rights as traditional couples, 92 percent view it as important (very or somewhat) to make the change part of any amnesty bill in Congress.

While the Christian community has taken a stand to preserve the institution of marriage, Latinos who report being Christians don't agree with the traditional biblical view on marriage. Some 71 percent of Catholic Latinos and 53 percent of Hispanics claiming to be "born-again Christians" support gay spousal amnesty and visas, according to the poll.

The foreign-born Latinos were even more supportive of this position — 65 percent vs. 63 percent of native-born Hispanics.

Other surveys have found Latinos significantly more likely than the native-born to have single-mother households, use welfare, prefer bigger government that provides more services, and view free enterprise negatively. That doesn't sound exactly like a "movement conservative".

For liberal critics of amnesty and mass immigration this may not matter. But the Republican Party would wake up after an amnesty fling with open-borders special interests of all stripes to find they'd left them in the morning. The only thing to show for selling out their party's base is an even bigger Democratic electorate.

I can understand why Alinsky 'Rat moles would call anybody using the "wetback" term a racist. It's pure Alinsky, and to be expected from them.

But when "conservative" (sic) anglo types call us racists for using the term wetback, I think that they have been fully mind-melded and coopted into PC liberal borg-think.

Just what "race" is a wetback? It just describes an illegal who swam into the USA.

Just as what "race" is an islamic jihadist, or any muslim?

In 2002 when I wrote my first novel about the USA transforming into a police state, step by step, a lot of folks thought it was over the top, it could never happen here. "We're different. We're special."

Now, I get emails saying, "you were right, Matt," every damn day.

And now I say, and I will continue to say, that I don't think we'll even have 50 states under our present Constitution in 20 years--mainly thanks to our witting (and unwitting) open border Quisling traitors.

The unwitting category is well represented on this thread. They are the ones who believe that if you take a family just in from Chiapas to a 4th of July GOP rally, they will turn into Romney Republicans and reject the offered EBT card the 'Rats want to put into their hands. The EBT cards the 'Rats are literally advertising in Mexico, as a lure.

These pro-amnesty (whatever you want to call it) Republicans are utter fools, and I don't care how many sheepskins they hang on their walls.

But they won't listen, they'll just keep repeating their "It can't happen here!" American exceptionalism mantras.

Until reality hits them over the head with a 2X4, and their America is gone forever.

What Hispanics ‘get’ is that Republicans offer tax cuts for (white) billionaires and Democrats offer THEM all sorts of $$$$ programs to help their poor kids, free school breakfasts, lunches, after school programs, food stamps. Obama-care/medicaid, tax credits, preschoool head start, minimum wage increaeses, ....its endless

Yeah exactly. Now you're starting to "get it." That's the distorted perception of reality that Democratic Party operatives have been teaching them in Spanish for the past 40 years. And from us, in Spanish, the Latinos hear ... nothing at all. They hear the static that you hear in between the radio stations when you turn the knob. We have nothing for them in Spanish.

We need to reach out to them with people who are fluent Spanish speakers and writers. Internet, radio, television (Univision is pretty much MSNBC with hot Latina babes, as someone has already pointed out), free weekly newspapers, direct mail, billboards, yard signs, bumper stickers, EVERYTHING.

Latinos need to be taught that the Democrats have been lying to them, and bankrupting the country, since before most of them were born. Somebody has to pay for those free school breakfasts, and even the white billionaires don't have that much money; the money is either borrowed (and your children and grandchildren will pay it back), or it's taxed out of the pockets of working men and women. They need to be taught that the GOP way gives the workers more money because they keeps more of their wages, rather than paying more in taxes; and that the GOP way creates more jobs, and better jobs for everyone.

Most of all, they need to be taught that as Reagan said, the best welfare program anyone ever invented is a job. Get a good job and you can buy all the education, health care, and housing you and your family will ever need. And the way to get good jobs is to get the Democratic Party's enormous government out of the way, and let entrepreneurs create the jobs.

Already covered ,
Obama told them that he will make rich white priviledged men pay for it, those same men who made billions $$$ the past few years while their (latino) kids are hungry at night and have holes in their shoes.
...and they like that message, came out in numbers to make sure he was re-elected to make it happen.

Matt, I suspect you’re talking about me when you say that “unwitting open border Quisling traitors” are “well represented on this thread.” Review what I said. I’m opposed to a blanket amnesty program. And I haven’t called anyone a racist.

If the Republican Party continues on its current path with regard to Latinos, then the Republican Party is the Walking Dead. It just hasn’t fallen down yet.

Read what I said earlier about Latino Decisions, the organization that conducted the poll. Founded and run by a couple of left-wing La Raza type university professors named Barreta and Segura. Barreta has already written a book that's openly hostile to the Tea Party. Read what they've written that isn't constrained to make them sound non-partisan, and they sound exactly like David Axelrod.

Because most of the time, when they're not pumping young skulls full of left-wing BS in the classroom, that's who they're working for.

I got a bunch of grief here a month ago for suggesting that the GOP should propose a reform plan that offers some sort of legalization (with many requirements and limits) to those illegals who are now adults and were clearly brought here and raised here as children(those with a HS degree from a US school), as they are seen as victims by most Americans and will always be.

To propose something as an alternative to the amnesty club, something alternative to giving them the vote.

I got comments back saying that any child brought here to the USA illegally is a criminal themselves for touching the US soil, and they need to go ‘home’ even if they are 25 and had been here 20 years since 5(like that is a winning issue).

But I tried to explain that the GOP is terrified now thanks to Romney’s failures, just saying no to everything will result just in as VAWA and the tax bill passing with mostly Dem votes, something we really hate ,like illegals voting in GOP primaries.

We need to ponder these salient facts:

(1) Illegal immigrants have primitive survival instincts honed in corrupt Third World places where everything is for sale. The survivalist instincts of illegals DO NOT correspond to "labels" that we here in America consider sacrosanct---ie. conservatism. Illegalism is all about "what's in it for me, and who do I payoff to get it."

(2) I fear we are falling into Ohaha's cunning trap---he uses issues like immigration reform (and sequestration) as a wedge---to divide and conqueur. Ohaha and the Dims are salivating about total control---lying in wait to takeover the US govt. (3) Even if we were to stand foursquare with the GOP's embracing reform, it's much too late. The Dems are w-a-a-a-y ahead of us in mining votes from these immigrant groups---the Dims have been sucking up to latinos like crazy.

Dim Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi recently told Chris Wallace on Fox News, "It is almost a false argument (made by Repubs) to say that we have a spending problem (WRT sequestration)."
(TRANSLATION "And besides, we need trillions to subsidize all our "new citizens" who will vote---and make me Majority Leader, again---not to mention the billions in foreign aid we plan to give to all the countries on the other side of the border.")

We’re damned if we do or don’t. Demography is destiny, our traitors are following the UK plan and replacing the electorate with an imported welfare class. But I’d rather die in the last ditch fighting, than put my hands up and hope for the best from my captors.

sickoflibs: I got a bunch of grief here a month ago for suggesting that the GOP should propose a reform plan ...

Yes, I've been getting that feeling on several FR threads recently. Clearly there are a lot of Freepers who think it will all be just fine and we'll win every election if we adopt a harsh Mitt Romney position, complete with harsh rhetoric delivered in a harsh tone, demanding that every illegal should be thrown on a bus in handcuffs, hauled to the border and dumped, accompanied by any children they brought with them, or had while they were here.

Travis McGee: We’re damned if we do or don’t. Demography is destiny ...

Yes, demography is destiny. That's why continuing to approach this problem the Mitt Romney way is a political suicide pact for the GOP. However, saying "We're damned if we do or don't" sounds a lot like you've fallen for the left-wing echo chamber's propaganda: that the Democratic Party's triumph can't be stopped, resistance is futile, and we should all just accept it and assimilate.

We need to drive a wedge between the legal Latinos on one side (our side), and the illegal Latinos and Democrats on the other side. Then we deport the illegals, with a few exceptions. Then we win.

The GOP definitely has a problem in this as far as future elections.

How they will deal with-it without self destruction, much like the Reagan amnesty that generated many Dem voters of today, or the GOP civil war that McCain and GWB caused in 2006/2007, is beyond me.

It should be obvious too that the Romney strategy of running on 'self deportation' got hispanics to deport Romney from getting near the WH.

They should go through the same process that any immigrant does in order to gain citizenship.

RE :”They should go through the same process that any immigrant does in order to gain citizenship”

Anyone in this country illegally at any time should be barred from citizenship unless they physically leave this country and immigrate legally as they should of.

Making them citizens makes no sense.
