CHINA IS ENGINEERING GENIUS BABIES
Vice.com ^ | March 15,2013 | Aleks Eror

It’s not exactly news that China is setting itself up as a new global superpower, is it? While Western civilization chokes on its own gluttony like a latter-day Marlon Brando, China continues to buy up American debt and lock away the world’s natural resources. But now, not content to simply laugh and make jerk-off signs as they pass us on the geopolitical highway, they’ve also developed a state-endorsed genetic-engineering project.

At BGI Shenzhen, scientists have collected DNA samples from 2,000 of the world’s smartest people and are sequencing their entire genomes in an attempt to identify the alleles which determine human intelligence. Apparently they’re not far from finding them, and when they do, embryo screening will allow parents to pick their brightest zygote and potentially bump up every generation's intelligence by five to 15 IQ points. Within a couple of generations, competing with the Chinese on an intellectual level will be like challenging Lena Dunham to a getting-naked-on-TV contest.

Geoffrey Miller, an evolutionary psychologist and lecturer at NYU, is one of the 2,000 braniacs who contributed their DNA. I spoke to him about what this creepy-ass program might mean for the future of Chinese kids.

“Lena Dunham to a getting-naked-on-TV contest”

That is free birth control.

It can be well argued that Michael Jordan is the result of breeding experiments such as those described in the Book “Tales of Appalachia”

My sister gave me the book because it included tales of local interest in early America. She was embarrassed nearly to tears to learn that one of the tales involved detailed process info for breeding strong field hands

Hey, we’ve got the Kennedys, who are doing a fine job of engineering all IQ out of their progeny.

Chinese planning to raise intelligence through selective reproduction?

Meanwhile, the US Government has instituted social policies encouriaging ncreased reproduction of the lowest common denominator.

The difference seems to be that China will take a more direct approach to influence reproduction while the US does it indirectly through wealth redistribution, Affirmative Action and other social engineering programs.

China will test the upper limits of human intelligence while the US continues to explore the sub-basements.

Intelligence is polygenic, is only 0.42 correlated with direct heritability, and is arguably highly genetically correlated with a variety of severe mental disorders.

There seems to be a number of posters on this thread who have a deep faith in the effectiveness of government intervention.

Amerika is the opposite. Inner-city tribal parsites reproduce with mothers-only households, fathers un-named (and unknown), to increase welfare/childcare assistance checks, and to form collaborative “Child Care”, so even MORE money is funneled to them. It’s a way of life that’s gone on for four generations....we wind up with gansta ‘hood inhabitants, with no skills, no work ethic, no productive contribution to society, and a constant/ever-increasing siphon of earnings in the form of Taxpayer confiscation, to keep them voting for the “Handout Party”.

After all the nonsense posts, it’s good to see someone who gets it.

The Chinese understand what The Bell Curve is — and they are attempting to shift it just a bit in their favor.

My prediction is that they’ll succeed. And that we will continue to “go the other way”...

This will have so many catastrophic unintended consequences that they won't be able to count them all.

That was my thought, these super children may not
be so enamoured of their parents politics.
Also they may decide not to put up with the less
intelligent, which would be everyone else.

That's not all bad. Due to down and up breeding already the IQs of some Americans have overlapped with man's best friend. I'll take one of these with the brain of a Labrador Retriever:
