New York state offers $500 reward for reporting gun owners
The Daily Caller ^ | 3/20/13 | Robby Soave

For more than a year, New York state has maintained a tip line allowing people to report illegal gun owners and collect a $500 reward. CBS-6 news reported the existence of the tip line on Wednesday. It was previously a “well-kept secret” that received little promotion from state officials or fanfare in the media, according to the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association. A February 2012 press release from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office first publicly announced the tip line, saying it was designed to “encourage citizens to report illegal firearm possession.”

Actually, post the number on some of the social web sites as the number to call for free phone sex .... the number will be spread like wild fire. I use this strategy for those telephone solicitors who are obnoxious.

But some states require FOID & registration of guns.

Anyway, freelancers should spam this snitch number with the addresses of every driveway with an Obama stickered car.

“False premise:
Guns are not illegal.”

You’d be wrong on that, if you find yourself in NY state.

If I’m not mistaken, New Yorkers who own AR-15 type rifles are required by law to register such rifles with the state after the new law takes effect.

Failure to register (a previously legal) weapon of that type will become a felony.

Ownership of an UNregistered AR weapon is becoming ILLEGAL in NY state.

Sooner or later, someone is going to rat on an owner of such weapons, even if the gun owner is otherwise law-abiding. It’s just a matter of time.

Will an accused “AR gun owner” choose to flee NY state, and escape to a “new-free”, gun-friendly state? What will happen then?
See this post for my predictions:

From the Facebook page:

NY State has established a toll-free tip line – 1-855-GUNSNYS (1-855- 486-7697) to encourage residents to report illegal firearm possession. The tip line also allows for information to be submitted via text – individuals can text GUNTIP and their message to CRIMES (274637). The New York State Police staff the tip line 24 hours a day. Upon receiving a call, troopers will solicit as much information as possible regarding a firearm tip then contact the appropriate police agency with the lead to initiate an investigation. If the information leads to an arrest for the illegal possession of a firearm, the “tipster” will be awarded $500.

Some of the responses to the post on fb

“Welcome to the Fourth Reich! Remember the traitors that sell out Americans. Make a list and when justice day comes we will stage our own Nuremburg and hold any cowards that sell out their fellow Americans just as equally as we do the NY City/State Government and DC Nazi’s!!! Make sure the Records Editor and publisher are on that list...Julius Streicher would be proud!”

“welcome to 1984, people”

“Very similar to the Soviets and is typical of oppressive governments throughout history. Neighbor against neighbor schemes are effective as they require little added resources and potential agents are everywhere causing fear, panic, and distrust in the community. They essentially destroy the community. New York is on my no travel list and if I recognize something as being a product of New York I will purchase an alternate item.”

"...Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office first publicly announced the tip line, saying it was designed to “encourage citizens to report illegal firearm possession.”

The very phrase, "illegal firearm possession" should spark outrage in a free people, let alone the fact that a state has actually put such a concept into practice.

Most especially when the Supreme Law of the land states:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Is it time yet, Claire?

Breaking: New York Governor Favors Easing Newly Passed Gun Law ... he and legislative leaders were negotiating language that would continue to allow the sale of magazines holding up to 10 rounds, but still forbid New Yorkers from loading more than 7 rounds into those magazines.
