Meet John Hickenlooper, now-endangered Democratic Governor of Colorado.
Red State ^ | March 20th, 2013 at 06:00 PM | moe Lane

I’m calling Gov. Hickenlooper endangered for a reason: he just made a rather poor life choice. You see, the fellow bowed to pressure from East Coast liberals and signed into law today an effective firearms ban masquerading as a “high capacity magazine ban.” John Hickenlooper is apparently just self-aware enough to realize what problems this is going to cause him down the line: “[Hickenlooper] said his office later today will release a “signing statement” to try to explain how the bills, particularly one that limits ammunition rounds, should be interpreted.”

If you’re explaining, you’re losing. And here’s why Hickenlooper is explaining:

A longer version of state senator Kevin Lundberg’s points here. The short version is that the legislators who constructed the ‘high capacity magazine ban’ either didn’t know or didn’t care that new ‘standard’ ten round magazines are easily convertible into larger magazines, which makes them just as subject to the new law as the larger ones. As well as the guns that need those magazines in order to operate. That means Coloradans technically now can’t buy ‘em, can’t sell ‘em, can’t even transfer ‘em to other people… in Colorado*. The whole thing is pretty much an exercise in demonstrating why you don’t let Democrats write legislation unless it’s on something that they know something about, like increasing minority unemployment**.

Amusingly, Hickenlooper thinks that this won’t hurt him in the next election:

For all of their fervor, Hickenlooper sees the demonstrators a small minority. “Not only do they not represent the middle, I don’t think they represent the Republican party. I don’t think they represent a large number of people,” Gov. Hickenlooper said.

…Oh, dear.

Oh, dear, oh dear, oh dear. There are many things that social conservatives, defense hawks, small-government types, and libertarians disagree on. The Second Amendment is generally not one of them. So, no, I’m pretty sure that the folks upset about these new limitations to their civil rights actually do represent the Republican party. And I suspect that in 2014 there’s not going to be a repeat of the [Colorado***] GOP’s 2010 internal meltdown…

I will be working/volunteering against him, or who ever the rats run. If there’s a recall, I’m on board with that too.

Poopenlicker isn’t endangered. He fits in well with all the queers and pot heads that invaded an other wise great state. I highly doubt the good people of CO will fight back, they will just leave if they are able. Hence, he is not endangered.

“Meet John Hickenlooper, now-endangered Democratic Governor of Colorado.”

He’ll probably be re-elected.
Easily...

This November if the ballot measure to repeal 1224 and it succeeds, it will give us a good idea what the 2014 elections will be. I can’t believe that this POS Governor believes that 9 out of 10 Coloradans support these measures. I guess he got a head start on the pot reform.

Hey Hickenlooper. If you don't think your ignorant decision is going to hurt you with liberals, read this:

Why Liberals Should Love The Second Amendment

It's written by one of your own.

Chickenpooper (stolen from another FReeper) wanted to be remembered as creating the “toughest” violations of the Second Admentment in the history of the United States. What a maroon. I hope the Coloradans throw him out on his NAZI @$$.

There is a recall petition going. See the link below.

Gun control backlash in CO.

Sheriff Maketa releases statement regarding gun control stance

Historically, any citizen would be allowed to speak if they arrived at the Capitol early and signed up on testimony records. Although sign up sheets were in place and citizens including myself signed up, we were completely disregarded. Minutes after I signed up to testify, I learned a different process would be utilized and testimony was based on three categories: experts, preferred witnesses, and public witnesses. No explanation was provided to define expert or preferred witness. I was told this decision was made by the senate president and the chairperson of the hearing committee. Additionally, experts would have no time constraints and all others would be restricted to three minutes.

As I made my way out of the Capitol, I was shocked at the number of people who attended these hearings. It's estimated the number of people in attendance reached 1,000. I spoke to several and was told they just wanted their voice to be heard.

I am not sharing this because of the outcome of the hearings that day; rather I am sharing this because of the process implemented and the faces of all those citizens that were never permitted to participate in the process. Government is supposed to be by the people, for the people and on this day, they were crushed and kicked to the side. Special interest coalitions and hand picked experts with no relevant expertise trumped our citizens.

I would not be snickering just yet. Reis has probably come up with a sneaker way of getting Fienstein and Shummer’s bills passed. Never trust a Democrt. never turn your back on a Democrat. Never take a Bemocrat at their word. And last but not least, never, never, never expect a Democrat to do anything that is good and decent.

Do you live in CO?

I don’t, but know lots and lots of people who do. And I traveled the state extensively for years.

I think he is toast.

This action is going to have very bad effects on CO economy. They are very tourist driven. Just wait.

I wouldn't get complacent yet.

Even if Reid is putting on a pro-second amendment act right now, there are several in DC that still want to push the issue.

To: Red Steel; All
If this could make people accept this tyrant they are pretty pathetic. Unless we started actually executing those on death row it doesn't seem like much of an issue. We need to realize that trying to play by the rules against tyrants who have no rules is futile. We have to defy their authority.

These unconstitutional gun laws have to be resisted at all cost. A large open defiance of this tyranny needs to happen. A public trading of 30 round magazines is supposedly being organized for July 2. I think all rallies should encourage protesters to be heavily armed as well. I'm not calling for violence, but a show of force.

We have been losing the fight to the left for decades, and we need a drastic change in strategy. We shouldn't initiate any violence, but we should force these tyrants into either allowing us our freedom, or violently imposing tyranny on us. That's just where we are at now.

We are fighting a fight that can't be won without new options being used based on the reality we face. We have a government that is infested at every level with tyrants who hate our Constitution, and disregard it on a constant basis. They hate everything good this country was built on. We can't beat them in the long run within a broken system full of fraud, where they aren't constrained by our Constitution. We can't even stop them from attacking our Bill of Rights, which they clearly weren't given the authority to change, for very obvious reasons. If we can't fight this some other way we have no hope, because it's just a matter of time now. It's bad enough that we may not have a chance, but we should at least try. We shouldn't go out with a whimper

It was good to hear that Sheriff Terry Maketa is an official member of the Oath Keepers group, but he needs to stop saving information of those with ccw. Handing permits out for free to all adults who ask for one would also be good.
