US President Barack Obama has pledged to Jordan an additional $200m (£131m) to help deal with the growing number of Syrian refugees in the country.
After talks in Amman, Mr Obama said the funds - if backed by Congress - would help provide more humanitarian aid.
Some 450,000 Syrians have fled to neighbouring Jordan since the unrest began in 2011, putting huge pressure on the Jordanian authorities.
Meanwhile, Jordan's King Abdullah ruled out closing Jordan's border with Syria.
President Obama said he would ask Congress to provide additional funds as "budget support" to help the Syrian refugees.
He said this would help improve basic services at refugee camps along the Jordan-Syria border.
The US is already the largest single donor of humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees.

It’s time to review the fall of ancient Rome...Some say Rome fell because: 1. Decline in Morals, 2. Political Corruption and the Praetorian Guard, 3. Fast Expansion of the Empire, 4. Constant Wars and Heavy Military Spending, 5. Barbarian Knowledge of Roman Military Tactics, 6. Failing Economy, 7. Unemployment of the Working Classes (The Plebs), 8. The “Mob” and the cost of the “Games”, 9. Decline in Ethics and Values, 10. Slave Labor, 11. Natural Disasters, 12. Barbarian Invasion
Will the Syrian refugees get White House tours?
If it wasn’t for the sequester, we could give triple that to people who hate us.
Obama playing Santa Cause this week?? Kerry gave an extra $250 million to Egypt the other day, Obama $200 million to Jordan, and how much to Abbas??
And — it’s not our money - it’s a combination of Chinese money and Bernanke monopoly money.
This dude should be impeached and tossed in the slammer.
200M send to another country? Time to throw a few more Americans off the cliff.
Oh, yes — basic services at refugee camps are of the HIGHEST priority.
Nevermind basic services at TRICARE clinics or air traffic control towers back here in the good old US of A.
Is it me, or is this creep just trying to induce some sort of helter skelter chaos in this country? Because if that’s what he’s aiming at, he’s hitting the mark.
When Obama does this to us, isn’t he required to at least say, “stick ‘em up”.
If the GOP wins the control of the senate, the VERY FIRST thing the must do is begin impeachment proceeding against this disgusting ‘flim flam man’. The very next thing they need to do is bring criminal charges against him and each one of the conspirators involved with his criminal enterprise.
Obama and his filthy democrats make Bernard Madoff look like a petty shoplifter.
No.... it’s not just you.
He is also telling us that we can’t tell him what to do.... and he’s tossing it in our faces. The man is mentally ill.
But an Easter egg hunt is waaayyyyyy to expensive...
Congress--the House--should say no. Obama shouldn't promise anything he can't deliver. And if the House approves it, we need a third party.
Where the heck is the GOP?
These are the times I miss Newt Gringrich, he wouldn’t be awol on Sequester hypocrisy.
Impeachment proceedings start in the House. And no matter what Obama may promise, Congress must approve the $200 million.
It’s just a very long national nightmare. I want to wake up from it, but it just goes on and on.
Where the heck is the GOP?
These are the times I miss Newt Gringrich, he wouldnt be awol on Sequester hypocrisy.
Oh, come ON — too much “baggage,” remember? WE couldn’t deal with baggage ...(as if it would have EVER affected anything Newt ever did professionally) so now we have to deal with this monster’s insanity.
"United States foreign aid is aid given by the United States to other countries. It can be divided into two broad categories: military and economic assistance. It is given by the United States government, and by private organizations and individuals in the United States. Foreign aid has been given to a variety of recipients, including developing countries, countries of strategic importance to the United States, and countries recovering from war. The government channels about half of its economic assistance through a specialized agency, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)."
