Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
May he rest in peace.
Bump back to the top. we’ve lost one of the really good guys.
I’m so sorry. Prayers for his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, dear patriot.
I think it was Doctor Raoul in prison stripes at the inaugural ball. But he usually wore the devil costume at the regular protests. Gov. Huckabee’s band rocked!!
But re that day on Mass Ave, am particularly remembering the lady, who owned one of the houses we were congregated in front of, bring out hot chocolate for all and sundry.
It was a welcome treat on a blustery day, as much for its obvious moral support as for the warmth of the cocoa !
I've sinced relocated far enough north in PA that getting to DC at $4/gal has become mostly prohibitive.
Oh but what good memories those are .. when what we were up in arms against at the time seems like such small potatoes compared to today's flat out Looter takeover.
I'd love to know if enough younger people have joined up in the interim to pick up the flag from us aging warriors as the battle continues into the years ahead . . .
Good seeing you at the Breitbart shindig last week!
Thanks for sharing your memories. Always good to see you, ironman.
RIP. All the screen names bring back memories...somewhere along the line I became a Lurker instead of a Poster...I do remember Dr. Raoul and some of the other names—hope you are well, Firebrand and all you other people from the Impeach Clinton days and the 2000 Florida recount—good times.
Too young, too sad. R I P Dr R
The link to the source article there is stale, but is archived. The link to it is here.
OK, I'm going to read the rest of this thread now and make sure this sort of thing isn't already linked.
There are a TON of links to reports on FReeps of Hillary’s Lying History book tour here:
including some involving Dr. Raoul, and all inspired by him. There’s also a transcript of the Leno appearance where the “devil” is mentioned.
Here, let’s post that one directly, it’s a post by Kristin.
Partial Transcript From Leno: Hillary on Being Freeped at Living History Book Signings
Huckabee was wonderful. I have a whole different opinion of him than most do because of his appearance at the Ball. He’ll always be one of the good guys IMHO.
I thought that was Dr. Raoul that night because I thought I saw him without his mask hiding back in the display area. Those masks are HOT!
I have such fond memories of the Ball and meeting eveybody. I consider it one of the highlights of my life. We had such high hopes. Of course, that was in the era of September 10th!
Do you remember the sisters from Iowa wearing the red cowboy hats? I don’t remember their names, but somebody should ping them.
BTW, somebody should ping Bob J. He did the video of that party. So, I’m adding his name to this note and hoping that he considers it a ping. And gorush and cultural canary to.
Abner and I made 50 or more of those Sore/Loserman signs in the signshop and handed them out to the crowd on Massachusetts Ave. Remember the “Get Out of Cheney’s House” chant? That day there were 300-400 of us and 20 on the other side of the street. CNN reported it was about 50 on each side.....
Oh no! Hillary’s “some guy dressed up as the devil” quote was a classic Freeper thread back in the day.
RonDog, When you came up to lead the Cow Palace Freep of BillyJeff Clintoon, Dr. Raoul graciously and without charge mailed me some of the costume I wore (Clinton mask, prison stripes, oversized hands). He said I could keep the outfits, that I didn’t have to send ‘em back.
I just found this video of Raoul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2pZcVbc_Hk
Oh, Terry...it just seems like yesterday we all did all that stuff....58, that is just too effing young...Darlie & I are both cancer survivors so, we take one day at a time...are Barry and you OK?
Hi Dave, a sad day in Freeperdom...another one leaves us...I still remember with great fondness the day Pete & I found you in Orlando! Are you and yours OK?
My condolences to you, Barry and Dr. Raoul's Family.
He was a force and I was extraordinarily proud of him and Kristinn when they tore into Bob Kerrey. He deserved it.
Damn Barry...glad to hear you are still amongst the living...miss you & Terry.
