Active NFL player reportedly considers saying he's gay

The NFL appears more ready than ever for an openly gay player. It's possible we'll find out how ready this offseason.

CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman wrote Monday that he was told a current gay NFL player strongly is considering coming out publicly. The plan would be for the unnamed player to do so in the next few months, then carry on with his NFL career.

Freeman based the information on several interviews with active and former NFL players, but the reporter doesn't know who the player is. If the player does come out, it would be a landmark moment in U.S. professional team sports.

The topic of homosexuality and gay rights never has been so much a part of NFL discussion. Players like Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo and Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe have spoken loudly in support of gay marriage throughout the last year. New York Giants owner Steve Tisch, NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith and players like Scott Fujita, Scott Shanle, D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Winston are among those who supported a brief filed to the U.S. Supreme Court related to Proposition 8 in California. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments this week on the proposition that banned same-sex marriage in the state.

The NFL might be more ready than ever for a gay player, but that's still not saying much. The NFL is progressive in so many ways, and yet it's far behind the times on openly gay players. That's true for all major pro sports.

Fujita believes NFL players are ready.

"I honestly think the players of the NFL have been ready for an openly gay player for quite some time now," Fujita told Freeman. "Trust me, the coming out of a player would create much bigger waves outside the locker room than inside."

A player coming out certainly would create a lot of attention. It would take a lot of courage, and the act would make it easier for the men who come out publicly after. Frankly, the moment feels inevitable and almost overdue. Progress waits for no one

First fag out gets a cash entitlement by the LSM and fag bonus endorsements! What’s not to love?

I would guess he will also snag the Preparation H endorsement contract too.

Wouldn’t this be the player for the Ravens who dedicated the Super Bowl to gay marriage and said he wanted to go on Ellen Degeneres after the win to talk about anti-gay bullying?

I’m surprised there are no openly gay players already. Who the heck cares?

“all about marketing”

Perverts are incredibly profitable consumers.
Their low self-esteem makes them grateful for any affirmative representation.
Advertisers desire them even more than ‘dumb sluts’ because they have more disposable income.

Even if the player isn’t all that good the refs and coaches know where there bread is buttered...

Being “gay” has become almost a status symbol. Truly a sad world we are living in...

What's next... the gay players insist to come out and then want to be on the cheerleaders squad. What a crying shame though that this takes away from the actual game. Now, they are being way nuts in political correctness in sports.

Even given the small percentage of actual gay people, it seems unfathomable that no people with gay tendencies have ever made it to the NFL.

“To the gay nfl player: WE DON’T FXXXXXG CARE!!! JUST SHUT THE HELL UP AND PLAY FOOTBALL.”

No; we should care. Football is one of the top things that many young males look to as a manly thing.

Now we are just going to roll over let the homosexuals degrade that?
Sicking actually.Yes we should care.

Satan is smart the way he is playing his cards here. Our nation is being destroyed rapidly, and we just sit back and watch.

Like those unfortunates forced to ‘hide in the shadows’—when they aren’t parading with flags from their country, here again we find ‘the love that dares not speak its name’—shooting off its mouth.

Do they get separate locker rooms, showers etc? Are they all accepted, or only the dung punchers? or only the dung punchees? Do they have to bend over for the ‘straight’ players when they screw up and cause a game to be lost?

Maybe many more questions...Just askin’...

Succinctly nailed!

No question, America has experienced a series of inexplicable, intentional and bizarre “man-made disasters.” R’s and D’s included.

History will corroborate America’s “influential” and “low information voters ” ensured the ruin of our country’s financial solvency, our moral decay, and our once great system of liberty.

God save all “bitter clingers” and our families!

Actually the guy better be some huge intimidating player. Or someone who is already respected in the league.

If not, my guess is he's going to get his bell rung mercilessly by opposing teams.

Not to mention becoming a pariah in the locker room.

My guess is it's someone that nobody will really care about. Some second-string kicker that nobody has even heard of.

please read more carefully.

i am not saying as a society we shouldn’t care about the homonazi onslaught.

i am talking about the whole attention whore mentality gays have about their own coming out. it’s all about them. what they want. this whole the entire universe revolves around my genitals mentality.

i was pretty clear in my entire posting on this.

Does anyone feel sorry for the poor Center when a gay quarterback goes for a ball?

Just couldn’t resist.

It goes back farther than that. Check out the published Communist agenda from the early 50’s and you’ll see the promotion of Homosexuality as one of their stated objectives to bring down American society.....More recently the Democratic Socialists of America work to promote the Gay agenda for the same reason..... RSA = the ~70 US Representatives Allen West called out communists.....find them listed in the Progressive Caucus. Nancy Pelosi used to be the vice chair until she got House Leadership ambitions whereupon she distanced herself from her fellow travelers.....

BTW Hillary didn’t just go gay.....she’s been that way since college......

It's malignant narcissism. Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!
