A Glynn County grand jury has indicted De’Marquise Kareem Elkins, 17, and Dominique Demetrius Lang, 14, on murder and other charges in the March 21 death of a 13-month old boy.
It also indicted Elkins’ mother and sister with tampering with evidence in throwing the pistol that was used to shoot the child and his mother in a pond.
Elkins is also accused of shooting a man in a March 11 robbery attempt, and his mother and another aunt are charged with making false statements to police.
The indictment Wednesday said a .22 caliber revolver was used to shoot toddler Antonio Angel Santiago, his mother Sherry West, who was wounded in the right thigh, and the March 11 victim.
Elkins alone is charged with malice murder but both he and Lang are charged with two counts of felony murder in that the baby was killed during the commission of aggravated assault and attempted robbery, the indictment says.
The indictment charges each of them with three counts of aggravated assault in shooting West and her baby and in striking West on the head with the weapon.
They are each charged with the attempted robbery of West and first degree cruelty to children in causing the baby to suffer “cruel and excessive pain” by shooting him in the face.
Elkins’ mother, Karimah Elkins, and aunt, Kartina Elkins, were charged with making false statements to police. The indictment says that while speaking to police on March 22, Katrina Elkins provided a false alibi for Elkins by reporting he was at her residence during the shooting.
On the same day, the indictment says, Karimah Elkins also provided a false alibi for her son by telling police he was with her during shooting.

So what, no one’s still saying the mother did it like they did when this story started?
This crime as it has played out is so heinous, so unthinkable, that it has to cross one's mind that a deranged, post-partum-depressed, whacked-out mom might in a moment of insanity kill her baby. Susan Smith, Andrea Yates . . . it has happened before.
That a couple of total strangers would execute a baby in a stroller is beyond evil and there's no excuse for it. It means that the whole world has gone mad, and that none of us are safe.
Even a crazy mom is preferable to that realization.
*Some* are still saying the mother could be involved, could have hired these geniuses to shoot her and her baby. Or could have hired someone who hired these geniuses. No letting her off the hook.

This will only be solved by Saturday hangings in the park for all four.
The fathers are probably wisely out of the country by now, unless they are already doin' time.
As soon as the MSM can locate a photo of the 17-year-old accused shooter when he was nine years old the story will get wider coverage.

If the killing is done in the comission of an armed robbery it would be first degree murder....and w death penalty if they were over 18. It should be first degree murder for both

This should be “Rope + tree = Ambient temperature”. Why bring them inside? Let them swing in the breeze for awhile, a stern warning to those like them who think the path to easy street is by robbing and murdering the innocent.
(Yes, I know we have a judicial system to handle these matters. However, justice delayed is justice denied, and I can’t imagine the ongoing pain of the parents.)

In a videotaped interview, Sherry West described a previous situation when she reported her next-door neighbor to police, who was constantly smoking crack and playing loud music and causing lots of problems, criminal activity, etc. Eventually she had the neighbor evicted.
West speculated that her older son’s death and the latest shooting of her and her baby may all be related to gang revenge for having the neighbor woman evicted.
Now I wonder: Was the neighbor De’Marquis Elkins’ mother??
The nearest that I could tell from the mother is that the girl next door who was doing all those things and who she got evicted was her dead son’s girl friend from up in New Jersey.
She must have moved down from New Jersey after her son [the girl’s boyfriend] was killed in 2008 to be near his mother. Very strange —
