Your SO lucky you were not 30 miles south. The Willco Deputies would have just shot you AND your son from the car window without warning, and then the good ol’ boys club in Georgetown would have given them medals for it. There would have been some trumped up evidence and the D.A. would go back to sipping his coffee.
