California Teen 'Tortured' by Belief That Friends Sexually Assaulted Her Before Hanging Herself

Audrie Pott, the 15-year-old California girl who killed herself after photos of her alleged sexual assault appeared online, felt "tortured" by the experience of being betrayed by suspects whom she once considered friends, the family's attorney, Robert Allard, said today.

"We have Audrie's words that reveal just how tortured she was," Allard told ABCNews.com of her online comments.

"Over the week that followed, she was literally tortured by the knowledge that people she thought were her friends were passing around photos of what took place," he said of the allegations.

In the week after the alleged assault last Labor Day at a gathering at a friend's house, a humiliated Pott, according to Allard, posted messages on Facebook, saying, "My life is ruined."

Allard said Pott also posted, "This is the worst thing ever" and "Those guys put 'blank' inside of me," not providing details.

Three 16-year-old boys were arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery in the assault on Pott while she was passed out at a party, according to the Associated Press.

Santa Clara County police have not responded to numerous requests for comment. Authorities have not publicly identified the boys because of their ages.

"Based upon the discussions with the police officers, at least one picture was disseminated extensively," Allard said. "There was enough within that to demonstrate that a sexual assault had occurred between multiple boys."

I Corinthians 6:18

Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

Digital documentation of the rape(s) makes it even more traumatic.

All child “porn” victims suffer knowing images of their abuse are out there and looked at for pleasure every day. Often times these images are making money for people. The victims are essentially forced child prostitutes for life.

It truly is the taking of ones soul. People posting images of rape should be executed or locked up in GP for life.

Sorry, posted to the wrong thread. Hadn’t read this article...

Question: Who is to blame for a suicide?

I suppose some parents in a situation like this would, and very well could, save taxpayers the money for the trials...

This is an old article, but it shows the political “connectedness” of the parents of one of the boys who was arrested on Thursday. It’s going to be a challenge for the victim (or her parents) to get a fair trial.

Three 16-year-old boys were arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery in the assault on Pott while she was passed out at a party, according to the Associated Press.

I strongly suspect something like Rohypnol was slipped into her drink.

Whenever we have our annual sexual assault awareness training (it's required for all Army personnel), we are warned never to leave a drink unattended. It is, unfortunately, fairly common to use a drug to put the intended victim to sleep and rape her. She doesn't even need to be drinking alcohol.

Whether a date rape drug was used on her may not be publicized, but if so, it would be a factor in the trial. I hope the young criminals are put away long enough to become too old to want to hurt someone like that ever again.

“I strongly suspect something like Rohypnol was slipped into her drink.”

I think that is way over hyped. The basic issue is that most women do not handle alcohol very well because they typically have a lower weight and their liver does not convert alcohol into sugar as quickly as a man does. Given that she was 14-15 years old at the time there’s a good chance she was under 100 pounds. all she would need to do is drink 4 drinks relatively quickly and she’d be out, especially if she wasn’t used to drinking. A lot of women claim that they were slipped something but that’s usually to cover for their embarrassment of either passing out drunk or sleeping with someone they regretted the next morning.

In a civilized, rational setting, the alcoholic beverages would be consumed slowly, at a rate of one or no more than two drinks per hour, and buffered with food to inhibit the intake of the alcohol into the bloodstream. I wonder how many of these young women abstain from that necessary snacking because they feel it will harm their figures?

Even 10 years ago when I had teens some parents would let kids party at their house, buy them booze, and lie to concerned parents telling them they would be chaperoning the teens when in fact they would leave. They were the “awesome” parents. Of course those people now have kids that are screwed up on hard drugs and total failures at any sort of productive life. What is bad is how many truly good kids from good homes got lured into the muck with them.

Pop culture has been saturated with sex devoid of morality for at least forty years. It’s a stretch to pretend that school sex ed classes have more of an influence than thousands of hours of music and videos with exactly the same message.

I also think under 18s should not have unsupervised parties. Below 18 you’re not an adult. Most don’t grow up until they are 25, I know I wasn’t

hmmm... well, the criminals are the boys, yes. But, a 16 year old "passing out at a party"? come on -- we're not capable of wise decisions at 16 - most of us.

The girl should not have been allowed to go for a late night party. I can't blame the parents completely either, because society now dictates that we treat under 18s as adults to drink and party as they like

No. The blame is 95% the boys, 1% the girl for partying with alcohol, 2% the parents and 2% society as a whole

it's not "girl power" -- it's the sexualisation of our society since the 60s, affecting boys and girls. The boys are fully responsible for their actions, but we as a society encourage this.

how?

  1. the Media tells kids that sleeping before marriage is to be done -- in fact if the girl does not sleep with the guy on the xth date, there's something wrong
  2. sleeping around during marriage is ok
  3. divorce is the norm, rather than a shame
  4. having a child outside marriage is not a shameful thing

Sex Ed was put in the schools in 1970. There has been studies on the effects-—I have read books on the “change” in behavior of children. if you look at all the stats-—sex, STD’s, promiscuity, abortions, etc. all went WAY up in the 70’s. It was unheard of to have 12 year olds engage in consensual sex in 1970. It was normalized in the classroom and removal of shame by dealing with a private, intimate “act” in the classroom which removes morality from it-—the “everyone” does it is taught to children and they don’t want to “feel” like an outsider.

True-—the obscenity laws were removed from the media and God removed from the schools by law-—so it was not just “one” thing. Everything the kids were exposed to was encouraging promiscuous sex and masturbation. They reduced ‘sex” to a joke with the “cucumbers” and condoms-—reduced the act to meaninglessness. Stripped it of all morals-—which will destroy all long lasting relationships (and children).

It also was when they changed “day care” to “Preschool” and had “no fault” so that children were latch key kids and had no one home when they came home from school. That hardly happen until after the 60’s-to get little kids out of the home where values and character are built, so they learn everything from (atheist) strangers and TV.

Oh, yeah, charges against the son of a minority female executive in the California Dept of Justice are going to go REAL well.

I wonder if these louts were copying those rapists from Stuebenville, Ohio? It seems like a very similar scenario.

Some “friends”, not one real friend to stand up and say “what the **** is wrong with you guys”.

Marcellus Wallace needs his own movie, where he goes around and kills pond scum like this.

This girl was a kid who made the mistake of partying with and trusting friends. So many young people have no loyalty to one another... it’s like “Lord of the Flies” out there. There needs to be consequences for those who not only assault someone while they are impaired, but for those who distribute video and photos of that assault to anyone other then law enforcement.
