Obama: 'Unimaginable' Congress would 'defy' Americans on guns
Politico 44 ^ | 4/16/13 | Jenifer Epstein

Posted on 04/16/2013 8:13:02 AM PDT by To-Whose-Benefit?

President Obama can't see how Congress could buck public opinion to vote against new gun laws, he said in an interview released Tuesday.

“The notion that Congress would defy the overwhelming instinct of the American people after what we saw happen in Newtown I think is unimaginable,” he told "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie in an interview conducted before Monday's explosions at the Boston Marathon.

The Senate is expected to vote on gun legislation later this week, though it's not yet clear whether there will be enough votes for it to pass. Obama has been calling lawmakers to try to convince them to vote in favor of tougher gun laws, The Associated Press reported late Monday.

In the budget released last week, Obama said he offered Republicans a “realistic compromise."

“It does not give Republicans everything they want. Frankly, it doesn't reflect everything that I would like to see,” he said. “What it does is it puts forward some of the ideas that Republicans had suggested around entitlement reform that I think are reasonable policy.”

“President Obama can’t see how Congress could buck public opinion to vote against new gun laws, he said in an interview released Tuesday. “

Maybe because the “public opinion” is an entire media fabrication.

Exactly!

Hitler- Brown Shirts.

The Nazis used them, and then took Them out after they’d served their purpose.

The existing gun laws aren’t even being enforced. Chicago, with it’s high homicide by gun numbers, has a backlog of cases it’s not even bothering to investigate. Because most of them would affect the “catered-to constituency”. These goons know full well that more gun control legislation will only affect law-abiding citizens. Or in some cases, previously law-abiding citizens.

So when that gang of the catered-to kicks in the door of your home while you, your wife, and your children are sitting there watching teevee or having dinner-when, after hours of rape, assault, possibly torture (setting on fire, forcing you to swallow bleach, etc-all of which and more have actually happened in recent crimes), and bagging up your valuables, they decide to kill everyone, the only “one life will be saved” will be that of the criminals, because the unarmed innocent citizens never stood a chance.

So, constitutionality didn’t enter into it. If we decide things by “majority rules” (even though that wasn’t even the case in Obamacare), what do we need him for?

I think that lesson has not been lost on Medvedev and Putin. Both advocate stronger gun control in a country that already has among the toughest gun control laws on the planet. The Russian people may well demand the return of communism and only then will the government act against criminals - even recruiting them into the security forces and revitalized KGB.

What’s “unimaginable” is that a President of the U.S. would advocate for infringing on the God-given and constitutionally affirmed rights to self defense and protection from a tyrannical government... at least until this @ss-wipe showed up. Wake up, people! We must fight his efforts at EVERY turn.

To: To-Whose-Benefit?; All

Folks- the reason why the republicans allowign htis to even go to vote was such a treasonous act is beccause once the left gets their foot in the door- as we KNOW for FACT- they then come out with hteir asinien ‘zero tolorance’ policies which suspends and expells young children for pointign hteir finger ‘like a gun’ for bringign bubble guns to school, for sayign common everyday things liek ‘drop dead’ or soem such nonsense

WHEN the left gets through even just part of htsi bill that hte republicans helped to get passed- the left WILL begi ntheir ‘zero tolorance’ policy and ANYONE that even ‘looks suspicious to ANYONE’ wil lbe ifnormed on and their guns WILL be confiscation without any due process just as they are beign confiscated already in NY

KKKuomo of NY has just decided that everyoen who opposes his bill is a ‘right wing extremist’ and he has decided for the hwoel state that his gun bikll is ‘what the peopel want’ and thsoe who oppose it are just lunatics and extremists-

That is the kidn of tyranical govenrment that is swiftly beign created i nthis coutnry- and you can thank your spineless republican representatives for the COMPLIASNCE with the left’s anti-Americanism and unconstituional depletions of our rights-

There shoudl have been a petition to all those republican senators who agreed to let the vote happen statign that we do NOT appreciate their traitorous acts agaisnt hte peopel of htis coutnry, and that we feel they sghould have instead held a press conference whiel hte democrats were in session votign to vioalte our rights, and that htey shoudl have told the press that they would NOT participate in such a blatantly unconstitutional act agaisnt hte Ameircan people

Obama: 'Unimaginable' Congress would 'defy' Americans on guns

And ten years ago it would have been unimaginable that Americans would defy Congress on guns -- not saying that we were willing to roll-over for them, but that they wouldn't have dared to try pushing it -- and it gets even more stark at fifty/sixty years ago, where if the congress was doing what congress is doing now, there would have been hangings.

Go here to send a message that automatically goes to your correct Government representative.

Gun Owners of America’s Current Alerts Page
http://gunowners.org/alertscat.htm

Click on the most recent Alert link.
Right now it’s “The Battle Will Take Longer than We’d Hoped.”

This will take you to a page with a pre-written email. Just put in your personal info and the page will figure out which Senator or Representative to send it to. If you leave ‘Remember Me!’ checked you will only have to fill it in once. Then you can return and send it quickly multiple times a day. Let’s say, every time you read some 2nd Amendment news that you don’t care for.

(I’m going to post this link in multiple threads so many people will see it and, hopefully, put it to use.)

Narcissists generally do NOT do well when they are voted against. Interested to see what he tries after the gun bills fail.

Now that is an interesting question: will the gun bills fail? There was a lot of certainty that ObamaCare would fail, but it did not; then we were told to wait for the USSC challenges, and they declared it Kosher... we could be in a similar situation -- it may well lead to bloodshed.

Yes, it would be... so Congress should leave the laws as is.

No, congress should start talks on repeal of the GCA and NFA.

What’s ‘Unimaginable’ is that after we had Obama in action for 4 years, our own party threw the election so we could get stuck with Obama for another 4 years.

What's worse is realizing that had the throw failed we'd be stuck with ObamaClone for another 4 years (or maybe 8!).

They could not have implemented it if the GOPe in the house had defunded it, instead they are busy today trying to fund the provision that would pay for preexisting illness.

I actually agree that it is unimaginable -just like a crack whore wouldn't turn down $10, a Member of Congress won't risk losing the best job he or she will ever have, certainly not over a trifle like the Constitution.

So - what does it mean that gun control doesn't have the votes?

It means they're lying about the polls.
