Mo. official resigns amid concealed guns flap after state data shared with feds

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A top official in Gov. Jay Nixon's administration abruptly resigned Monday, becoming the first person to step aside amid a controversy over the way Missouri gathers information about people with concealed gun permits...

--snip--

Long and other members of Nixon's administration have said those scanned documents are being kept on a state computer server and not shared with the federal government or other entities. But during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing last week, the head of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said his agency had twice obtained a separate electronic list of concealed gun permit holders that was based on driver's license information and shared that list with a fraud investigator in the Social Security Administration.

An email a federal agent sent Nov. 17, 2011, to the Highway Patrol said "the purpose for this list is to cross match it to the Social Security Administration database for people who are currently collecting disability for a mental illness." People who have been judged mentally incompetent aren't supposed to be able to get Missouri concealed gun permits...

IMHO...

The real “hoot” in this...

a) Long, the MO state tax guy, said they were working to find fraud in disability.

b) the “Federal agent” sent an email on Nov 17, 2011 - they have a quote from the email saying they want to cross match. This is followed by an unquoted statement (so who said it) - “People who have been judged mentally incompetent aren’t supposed to be able to get Missouri concealed gun permits.” (quotes added here are mine)

So the Federal guy appears to be saying the Feds want to cut off the disability payments to anyone who is on both lists.

The Feds appear to have said nothing about sending this gun owner list to other Federal agencies; the old “nobody knows anything” routine.

So why did the State guy, Long, not simply tell the Feds, send me YOUR list, of everyone on disability in MO, let my office do the compare, and then my office will examine any matches and review the cases on a case by case basis, and we’ll get back to you IF we find any that appear to be fraud ? I may be an idiot educated in public schools, but at least I knows that in that case Mr. Long would have been protecting his fellow MO citizens’ a little better from the Feral government. And not as much infringing on their God-given right of self defense. Not to mention that a State official should simply tell any Federal official to take a flying leap if what they ask for is not both Constitutional and required by law duly passed by Congress.
______________________________________________________________________

It would be very “productive” - from the perspective of “real” Americans - if we had a widespread “wakeup” (and consequent vice-like pressure on Congress) of Americans to the fact that new world order gun-grabbing is beginning in earnest, via the Federal government, news and entertainment media, education, many in “big” business, State and local government.

At the grassroots level, people need to understand that the trap is closing, for real, and that they need to get rid of “the trapper” to really fix things. Cuz he keeps setting one trap after another, all over the place.

This fish rots from the head down. This initiative by the feds mimics how commies in the Soviet Union abused psychiatry to deny civil rights. There's more bad news:

I know or once knew a couple of guys who were vets and saw combat. One was involved in Central America ops and he had to make a very tough choice once his guys were spotted. The other saw action in Desert Storm and had some hard luck afterward. Both had PTSD. I knew them because I had PTSD from my after military service life. I would target practice, hunt, or trust them with my life. Both liked to shoot and hunt.

government databases being kept on law abiding citizens behavior or life is way out of hand. Very, very, few PTSD patients will ever harm another person except in self defense. They might do harm to themselves but good grief if a person sat down thinking of ways too off themselves they could fill an entire page.

Most mental disorders do not make the person a threat to anyone. Many mental disorders are a byproduct of a physical ailment often undetected.

Only a doctor, a LEO actually witnessing someones serious mental incapacity and prove it in court, or a persons family, should be able to take measures to deny a person firearm ownership on mental health issues. In mental health issues family gets left out of the process. A school shooter in my area had serious long established mental issues. He was hired as a teacher. His family knew he had issues. His family tried to warn both a judge and a school system the man had serious issues. Government has tied the hands of the ones who should have some say and turned the process over to bureaucratic morons with computers.

>>I’ve been noticing an inordinate number of “government is for our own good” lurkers on FR over the last year or so...<<

They are the ones who won’t mind surrendering a few of their freedoms for some security. I’m sure they’ll be comfortable with turning in their patriotic neighbors to the brown shirts.

I know that’s Unthinkable now. Wait a few years. It’ll be as common as collecting the mail.

Dana Loesch reported today that the ATF was in on the request for the concealed carry list!!!!

The ATF AND the Social Security Administration agent requested the list. It was given to them THREE TIMES. Twice just this year, January and February. Once they got the list, they allegedly decided against the project and claim they destroyed the discs.

MO employees testified that the data was encrypted and couldn’t be read. Then the SSA spokesperson said it could be read. Then the SSA spokesperson said another day that it could not be read. NOW they again claim that it could be read, was put into a spreadsheet on a disc, and sent through the mail with a letter containing the password for the spreadsheet. But they still claim they destroyed the discs. Not to worry! Nothing to see here, folks.

As someone else commented. They destroyed the discs after downloading them to their computers. They also, however, testified that they didn’t disseminate the information to anyone else. Of course, they also failed to mention the ATF’s involvement. That was discovered by one of the Senators, who subpoenaed all emails and other correspondence between the state agencies and the feds.

Wouldn’t it be refreshing if a DA in that state found some criminal charge to file against this guy...

Then there would be no benefits, perks, cushy Fed job waiting for him...

Just thinkin’ outside the box...

Nixon needs to be impeached. The MIACX.org is the resurrected missouri fusion center disbanded by the state reps in 2005. This isn't just about concealed carry lists, the fusion centers collect every scrap and sends it on to the dhs who stores it in that giant database warehouse south of salt lake city. Nixon is stalling and lying. His Missouri State Patrol division of Information Analysis is not limited to concealed carry lists. Every piece of information is used to construct individual profiles. No american is safe.

Missouri is not alone. Every state has the same intelligence gathering divisions tucked away somewhere in the state government.

“I’m having lively debates with people like: Sola Veritas about the benevolence of government.”

I NEVER said that all government is “benevolent.” I said, as per scripture, that government is God ordained. To fight against the institution of government (as you libertines do) is to fight against God. You quote, in previous post, that Samual berated the people because they wanted a King. What you failed to understand was that Samual was God’s “jugde” over the people - they were NOT without a government before their first King. It was a True Theocracy in Israel where God ruled through Prophets/Judges and secural Kings were not required. Israel’s sin was that they wanted a secular king, when God had provided something better.

I AM NOT against trying to limit and reform government. I am against the libertine approach that all government must go. That is anarchy, that is not God approved.

Also, you ENTIRELY FAIL to explain the CLEAR declarations in scripture that GOD HAS ORDAINED government to suppress evil and encourage good.

Your arguement is with God, not me. I am NOT a statist, I am a Christian that believes the Bible and doesn’t toss parts I don’t like. I do not elevate anything above scripture.

You need to stop inserting the word "all". Making shrill comments doesn't improve your argument. Also, I've add emphasis so that you can recognize and maybe comment on the salient points versus creating a sea of red herrings out of whole cloth.

You claim government skeptics want to eliminate ALL government and live in anarchy:

"I am against the libertine approach that all government must go. That is anarchy, that is not God approved."

You keep making that red herring statement and it's unmitigated BS. Then you say that you're attacked for saying ALL government is good:

"I NEVER said that all government is “benevolent.”

More BS. Post the quote where you were accused of this and prove me wrong.

I argue that government is run by sinners and they have an ever growing desire for power, which is disconnected from accountability and infringes on our freedoms - including speech and religious (public schools are a good example). If you are a Christian, you should be VERY worried about government control of every aspect of our lives. Cradle to grave control of :

our health care, retirement, how we educate our children and with what content, ownership of private property, how we protect our families... and a long list of significant infringements.

This invariably leads to government's definition of morality (pay your fair share, allow invasion of privacy, dictate associations, control public discourse, etc.). History shows that you, as a Christian, will be on the wrong side of that power trip.

Give me a time in history where MORE, NOT different government, makes society better. Germany, China, Russia, Japan in the 20th century...? Or in past centuries - England, France, Rome, Israel under a King or the Pharisees and Sadducees...? Name ONE TIME. Just ONE!

America was founded on LIMITED government based on Natural Rights.

Please, educate yourself on history and the Bible so that you quit defending the very serious problem of ever growing infringements on our God given liberties!

"Yep, the disc was destroyed, but the data is on their server."

Exactly. Nerd alert:

Every change in the application's data is saved for each user as a "log" of transactions or messages - into or out of the system. Databases and their log of incremental changes are backed up continuously so that the overall application and system databases can be restored to any point in time.

I've done forensic computer analysis to resolve litigation and have pioneered global networked computing architectures since the early '80's.

The real issue is a US AG who openly defies the law, refuses to enforce law and consistently protects the Traitorous actions of Obozo.

Nothing, NO NOTHING at all they say can be trusted. They distort the truth and outright lie at every turn. The media covers this for them.

THIS MUST STOP! Must be exposed.

I've been writing novels and pleading to everyone within earshot to expose our FedGov's usurpation of every liberty our founders bled for.

All I can say is - hope for the best and plan for the worst. It's coming to an end. We have $150 TRILLION in debt and unfunded mandates while taking in $2.5 trillion/year, owing $3.6 Trillion... and spending 42% more then we take in.

Many on this site argue over trivial details, while we watch OUR republic swirl down the sewer...

Yes, government (as all human institutions) is run by sinners. Do you think Paul didn’t realize that when GOD inspired and DIRECTED him to write Romans 13:1-7 “there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God...”????? God has chosen to use us flawed humans. BTW - Paul wrote that during the oppressive Roman Empire!

Now, do I worry about persons or interests in government perverting things for wrong? MOST CERTAINLY! However, I fear not only the left wing God haters, but the lawless Libertarians that do not believe in moral restraints in civilization. Both produce things I “fear.”

So, I fear both sides. Those that would produce a left wing anti-Christian oppressive climate and the extreme libertarians that would not let sexual immorality or illicit drugs be suppressed and let “everyman do what is right in his own eyes.” I.E. The supreme court should have never struck down anti-sodomy laws....except that anti-fornication and anti-adultery laws had already. I will never go along with anarchy....especially moral anarchy.

Whatever, you and I have no further basis for discussion until you acknowledge that the BIBLE is GOD inspired/directed and HE has established human government to suppress evil and encourage good. Until then, we have no basis for further discussion about how a government should be constituted. We have no frame of reference or common authority to appeal to for the basis of statements. Until you acknowledge that...without reservation or disclaimers. Otherwise, write me off as a religious fanatic (or whatever you may think) and leave me alone.

BTW - Please stop quoting scripture....it is obvious you take it totally out of context and don’t remotely grasp its meaning....or worse intentionally pervert it.
