It won’t lead them to innovate, invent and create entrepreneurial ventures that might solve problems, create opportunities and generate profits?

Women had very limited ways of making a living, and a great many were indeed forced into prostitution by the other option being starvation.
Under the Taliban, for instance, and in other rigidly traditional Muslim societies, prostitution is pretty much the only option for a widow or orphan.
