AK-47-Wielding Gunman Fires 37 Times at Shocked Cops During Routine Traffic Stop
The Blaze ^ | May 4, 2013 | Dave Urbanski

Terrifying dash-cam footage captures the moment a crazed motorist opened fire with an AK-47 rifle at police officers who had just pulled him over for a minor traffic violation in Middlefield, Ohio.

James Gilkerson, 42, exited his parked car and then fired 37 shots at the officers and their patrol car, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. Officers Erin Thomas and Brandon Savage returned fire, killing Gilkerson.

She actually gave the female scream during the event.

I have seen some of the shows that show live video of global accidents, crashes, etc, and the females still scream, although Hollywood has eliminated it in many action and drama movies since the feminist movement, (horror movies don’t count).

This happened in March.

Curious how the lame-stream media waited until the NRA convention was underway to report this incident?

ABC World News Tonight went from showing this Ohio shooting video to a hatchet piece about the NRA convention in Houston.

By the way, the female cop was shot in the hand, her male partner was grazed by a round. ABC said both officers were “injured” without getting specific.

The shooter was shot 19 times by the police and died at the scene. Before getting shot he shouted at the police, “Kill me! Kill me!”

Suicide by cop.

Other details from various:

According to Cleveland.com, the assault rifle used by Gilkerson was an AK-47. He fired 37 shots at Officers Brandon Savage and Erin Thomas. They returned fire with 54 rounds of their own.

The attorney who represented him in a 2006 drunken driving conviction remembers him as a person who appeared to be anti-establishment.

Gilkerson did not have an extensive criminal past. The last time police in Mentor-on-the-Lake responded to a call to his home was in August 2012 when his mother had a stroke. A person who answered a relative’s phone said he cared for his mother, who had been ill.

In a joint news release from Middlefield Mayor Ben Garlich and Middlefield Police Chief Arnold Stanko on Monday, Gilkerson’s alleged weapon was identified as an SKS semi-automatic rifle.

She tells dispatch that she’s hit and needs an ambulance. She must be the passenger officer. I counted about 17 continuous rounds from the officer on the drivers side. From the video, it does seem that she got about two hits on the suspect.

Appeared to be “anti-establishment”?

Does that mean Commie or Muzzie? That would be my bet.

Had to listen a little more. She does say the words “stop firing.” He tells her to call for backup, and tells dispatch she’s hit and needs an ambulance. Normally, if there is a normal, this type of call should go out as shots fired, officers injured, suspect down, and then the location would be given. That would give dispatch and responding officers and the responding supervisor a lot more information than she gave when she said she was hit and needed an ambulance.

3 weeks ago I was having a business lunch with some of my peers. During our appetizer course, a nice rosemary garlic flatbread, I heard a woman say “Please help. She can’t breathe!” Yep, an older lady in her late 60s, choking. Not speaking, not coughing, not breathing.

So I walk over, get behind her, put my hands where they go for this sort of thing and whisper to her “Just try to stay calm. This will probably hurt.”

After the second thrust a middle aged woman at the next booth says loudly “I don’t think you’re doing it right.” I made a motion for her to jump in any time she wanted to. She shut up. I gave a really hard third thrust and out comes half a meatball.

The manager comped our lunch and sent me home with what he said was a double portion of the house made lasagna. When I opened it up I started laughing my ass off. Mrs. L asked what was so funny. Nestled in next to that lasagna was....

You guessed it. Two meatballs. They were really good.

She doesn’t sound like she’s ready to be a cop.

One theory is: antidepressants give some the focus, courage, and wherewithal to actually do what they were too down to attempt.

Maybe a couple thousand more years of evolution and the females will get rid of that scream in emergency situations. It was NOT helpful in this one.

You have seen the elephant, or you have not. If you have, you know how you react.

Personally, I like to deal with folks that I know have seen the elephant and react appropriately.

Love my neighbor like a sister, but she's an idiot when it comes to emergencies. If I'm there to call the plays, she'll follow orders. Otherwise...

When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.

Some women don't.

Best not to paint with a broad brush.

Everyone reacts differently to stress situations.

Except running out of beer. Pretty much everyone panics over that. ;)
