Terrifying dash-cam footage captures the moment a crazed motorist opened fire with an AK-47 rifle at police officers who had just pulled him over for a minor traffic violation in Middlefield, Ohio.

James Gilkerson, 42, exited his parked car and then fired 37 shots at the officers and their patrol car, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. Officers Erin Thomas and Brandon Savage returned fire, killing Gilkerson.

Notwithstanding her scream, the lady stood her ground in a damn tough situation that few of us typists tonight have experienced. If I were her father I would be damn proud of her.

Before anyone jumps me for taking the lady’s side be aware of two points:

1. I think EXPERTS reviewing the tape will likely conclude he gets an A and she gets a b- overall for this shoot out.

2. I think it is ludicrous to, in the name of PC, to put women in these situations.

I'm allowed to be politically incorrect. Is my raison de etre.

If I haven't offended someone accidently, it's because they don't know me very well.

“3 ex mother-in-laws. You would have thought I would have gotten 1 good one at least.”

I’m a mother-in-law. I assume it would be quite interesting to know their opinion of you.

AMEN! Preach it brother!

In a rational world, women and children are protected, not put in the line of fire.

There's a reason men know how to kill spiders.

How very nice for you. I am not aware of what police are taught for off-hand shooting but her partner was able and she chose to call for back-up. I have no problem with their actions except that they are both terrible shots, as have many police been in recent high-profile shootouts.

They shared it freely. I provided a good income so my wife (whichever one) didn't have to work, but yet... I just NEVER did anything right.

My first ex-wife is a better mother-in-law to our son-in-law than her mom was to me.

Then they should stay on the porch.

I, too, have noticed the poor shooting going on.

It's unacceptable.

I don't say that as a keyboard warrior. I say that as a taxpayer that wants better vetting of those entrusted with that responsibility.

Do the job right, or go.

If you look carefully, genius, the perp goes down because someone put one or two 9mm boolits in his bladder region. If you don’t know what that means then keep your smarmy mouth shut. The perp was also hit more than a dozen times, which a genius like you could not do with a .45 and five mags, I’m willing to bet!

“and the females still scream, “

Screaming has, unfortunately , replaced polite applause at just about every venue with an audience. I just mute the volume at the end of a performance because I know what’s coming;)

It seemed to me that she did fine, her behavior seemed well within the range of normal competence, you can hear some stress but she did all the actions and performances that she was supposed to and seemed clear headed enough. That finger may have been a huge distraction for her, we don’t know what level of pain and shock it was dealing her.

He might have had all the books. Can't tell if he read them or practice the skills in them his tactics/and shooting skills are piss poor.

As for the officers Can't tell if the cover officer was out of their vehicle before the shooter got out. They had about 50 seconds to prepare for something.

They survived the attacker did not could things have been done better or different yes. But then things could have been a lot worse also.

There are lessons to be learn form the actions of both parties.

Thank God that the a##hole was such a poor shot. Don’t know why the female is taking grief here. Sounds like she kept her cool, relatively speaking. The white car in the oncoming lane took a few seconds but then backed way the ****up in a hurry and in a controlled manner
