Former Gov. Richardson on Sen. Cruz: 'I don't think he should be defined as an Hispanic'
American Thinker ^ | 05/06/2013 | Rick Moran

Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has taken it upon himself to re-define an entire ethnic group.

Speaking on an ABC News web chat following his appearance on "This Week," Richardson revealed a bigotry so deep and profound that it makes right wing anti-Hispanic loons look reasonable by comparison.

And yes, Richardson is Hispanic himself. It doesn't matter. Bigotry is bigotry wherever it rears its head. And in that interview, Richardson took bigotry out of the closet and paraded it in front of anyone watching.

From Brietbart:

"I'm not a fan. I know [Ted Cruz is] sort of the Republican latest flavor. He's articulate. He seems to be charismatic, but I don't like his politics. I think he introduces a measure of incivility in the political process. Insulting people is not the way to go. But I guess he's a force in the Republican political system, but I'm not a fan."

ABC News: Do you think he represents most Hispanics with his politics?

"No, no. He's anti-immigration. Almost every Hispanic in the country wants to see immigration reform. No, I don't think he should be defined as a Hispanic. He's a politician from Texas. A conservative state. And I respect Texas' choice. But what I don't like is... when you try to get things done, it's okay to be strong and state your views, your ideology. But I've seen him demean the office, be rude to other senators, not be part of, I think, the civility that is really needed in Washington."

What exactly is Richardson saying?

Richardson doesn’t think Cruz is ‘down for the struggle’. He is probably like J Jackson and wants to cut off Cruz’s gonads.

There they go again. Cruz isn’t really Hispanic, and West isn’t really black and Margaret Thatcher really isn’t a woman. But Bill Clinton is black!!! And Liz Warren is an American Indian!! Welcome to PC Lib Bizzaro World where your ethnicity is determined by what you believe.

“Why of course! Cruz isn’t a hispanic, Clarence Thomas isn’t black and Sarah Palin isn’t a woman.”

Sarah Palin is a Man..... Wow, that is some talented man to give birth to several children, maybe that would prove same sex couples can ACTUALLY have kids /sarc

Being Hispanic means having the “right” positions on the issues, not having lineage from a Spanish-speaking country, silly boy.

I think Governor Bill Richardson should stop worrying about Ted Cruz and start worrying about his weight. He is a heart attack/stroke candidate waiting to happen!!! I’m serious!!!

I'm sorry, who is that “Native American” Democratic House member? Are you saying she is a fraud?

Didn't think so, the rules only apply to Republicans. I think that the Hispanic Community needs to speak for themselves and he can call himself whatever he culturally aligns with. After all if Democrats feel that children get to choose whether they used the boys or girls restroom at school, based on their own “self identity” why shouldn't ethnicity also be self identified?

Maybe Bill Richardson was referring to this:

Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/04/english-please-ted-cruz-doesnt-want-senate-debate-in-spanish/#ixzz2SWjJMfyZ

EXCERPT:

Over the weekend, the white Lieutenant Governor of Texas, David Dewhurst challenged his opponent in the Texas Senate race, Ted Cruz, to a debate — in Spanish. Cruz, the Cuban-American former Texas Solicitor General, said he would prefer to debate in English.

Univision reported that Dewhurst made the challenge to Cruz. ”I would welcome a debate with Lt. Gov. Dewhurst in any form,” Cruz told the Spanish-language network. “But I think we would have a better debate if we did the debate in English.”

He explained that as a second generation Cuban American, he grew up speaking “Spanglish.”

“My Spanish is a situation many of your viewers will recognize, which is that as a second generation immigrant, my dad came from Cuba when he was a teenager not speaking English. And I grew up here speaking Spanglish,” Cruz said, shouting out a phrase in half English, half Spanish to illustrate his point.

“That’s the world in which I grew up, and that’s a world in which a lot of second generation immigrants find themselves.”

Dewhurst and Cruz are locked in a Republican primary run-off battle for the Texas Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison at the end of the year. There is no viable Democratic candidate, and given the demographics of the state, whoever wins the primary run-off on July 31 will take the seat.

Texas has a huge Hispanic population, being a border state, and that demographic will be hugely important for both candidates.

Dewhurst is clearly making a play for that vote.

Well, Richardson is correct in that #there is no such thing as Hispanic#. Being part of the former Spanish colonial empire does not make a Mexican Indian the same as a mulatto from Puerto Rico or a white Cuban, to name just three of the races, ethnic groups and nations that are erroneously thrust into this fake category.

What he’s really saying is as a Mexican Cubans really don’t count as hispanics. Mexicans and Cubans don’t have much love lost. The only true hispanics are Mexicans. :-)

Under Bill Richardson’s convoluted litmus test regarding hispanics and immigration, Mexico is not a “hispanic” country.
