Huckabee: Benghazi will drive Obama from office

By MACKENZIE WEINGER | 5/6/13 2:50 PM EDT

Mike Huckabee on Monday predicted that President Barack Obama won’t finish out his second term in light of the “cover-up” of the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and the former Arkansas governor called the affair “more serious than Watergate.” “I believe that before it’s all over, this president will not fill out his full term. I know that puts me on a limb,” the former Arkansas governor said on “The Mike Huckabee Show.” “But this is not minor. It wasn’t minor when Richard Nixon lied to the American people and worked with those in his administration to cover-up what really happened in Watergate. But, I remind you — as bad as Watergate was, because it broke the trust between the president and the people, no one died. This is more serious because four Americans did in fact die.”

Huckabee, however, said his predication about Obama “will not happen” if the Democrats seize control of the House and retain control of the Senate next year.

“If they’re able to get control of the House and maintain the Senate, this will not happen because they won’t let it happen,” Huckabee said.

“And they won’t let it happen not because they’re protecting just the president, they’re trying to protect their entire political party. If they try to protect the president and their party, and do so at the expense of the truth, their president and their party will go down. Now, here’s what I’m going to suggest will happen — as the information and facts begin to come out, it will become so obvious that there was a concerted and very, very deliberate attempt to mislead this country and its people to lie to Congress, as well as to you.”

And as the truth about the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi emerges, Huckabee said, “they will have lost the right to govern.”

“The highest levels of people in the United States government all the way up to the president knew that what they did tell us was not true,” he said. “And they continued to tell it throughout an election season and beyond, and they’ve tried to change the subject. And when the facts come out, they will not be able to stand. They will have lost the right to govern.”

What happened with Benghazi is not a “political issue” — “this goes all the way to the heart of the integrity of the United States government,” Huckabee said.

“When a president lies to the American people and is part of a cover-up, he cannot continue to govern,” Huckabee said. “And as the facts come out, I think we’re going to see something startling. And before it’s over, I don’t think this president will finish his term unless somehow they can delay it in Congress past the next three and a half years.”

To dream like Huckabee must be sweet. Unfortunately the rules of Impeachment don't fit his scenario. Particularly this clause:

To convict the accused, a two-thirds majority of the senators present is required.

Assuming a GOP senate majority of 52/48 or so which is probably the best we can hope for, you would still need another 15 or so Dems to vote to boot their guy out of office.

In your dreams, Mike.

“When a president lies to the American people and is part of a cover-up, he cannot continue to govern,” Huckabee said.

This comment assumes that he is governing presently.

I have seen no evidence of that.

Most of the libs I’ve talked to consider lying and deceiving to be “winning”.

Sorry, but the time when Obama is gone from office will be Friday at noon on January 20, 2017. Huckabee is simply engaging in wishful thinking. We’ve already seen what’s happened over the last few years.

As much as I would love to see Obama sent packing, the guy is bullet-proof. No matter what Obama says or does Obama will always have the media to cover for him, 47%+ of the public who will rally to support him, and a bunch of cowardly Republicans who won’t fully attack him because they’re afraid of being called racist.

0bamacare is also being met with disapproval among a growing chorus of Democrats who supported it. Stay tuned.

It doesn't matter. Nothing matters. Obama WILL NOT resign, so matter WHAT sort of scandal. And the Dems WILL NOT take part in impeaching the first Black president, no matter what.

Yep. The libs seem to think that lying is “for the greater good” (sort of like Bloomberg’s thinking on limiting soda capacity, etc.). It is part of how liberals think, that they have some intellectual superiority, which provides them with some moral superiority, which they use to justify their actions.

I certainly hope he's right but am skeptical.

The biggest reason I doubt it is the backing Obama has from the enemedia. If they'd go after Obama like they did Nixon it could happen. Benghazi is much more serious and actually criminal on Obama’s part, the Turkey needs to go.

You don’t need two thirds of the senate however to hold televise impeachment hearings that the media cannot ignore and will air live. You can fill those hearings with whistleblowers talking about (1) how Obama left embassy employees to die while he went to bed, (2)how Obama lied to the American public about what happened in Benghazi, and (3) how the Administration improperly pressured the justice department to have an American citizen imprisoned as part of its cover up of what really happened. Then when Obama’s public support falls into the 30% range he will be politically dead even if the Senate won’t remove him from office.

I would like to agree with Huckabee, unfortunately I do not see the Media abandoning Obama.

Certainly the President, Hillary and anyone with half a brain knew the video story was a phony. Hillary perjured herself before the Congress.

But like Hillary said “ What difference does it make “? No Democrat is going to turn against the most powerful two people in the party. The Republicans are neutered. Before this is over the people testifying against them will be destroyed and Obama will sail on like nothing happened.

I do not like to be pessimistic, but look at F&F. That too was more important than Watergate. We were lied to about Obamacare all the way down the line. Look at all of the money we tossed at Green energy and got nothing in return but failed companies. Look At what happened when Barney Frank and his Fanny and Freddie destroyed our economy. Did Barney even get removed? Look at Maxine Waters and her crooked bank schemes, What happened to Maxine? They want her in charge of Finance.

I wish I could agree with Huckabee, but I must judge from the past. We do not have a Congress nor a Supreme Court with the courage to remove this Muslim.
