Montevideo Suspect’s Dad: ‘Bucky Is Not A Terrorist’

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (WCCO) – Federal investigators say they stopped a terror attack when they arrested a Minnesota man for having pipe bombs and illegal guns.

FBI agents arrested Buford Rogers on Friday at his home in Montevideo. They say the arrest thwarted an attack on residents of the western Minnesota town.

Jeff Rogers places his American flag upside down to show what he calls the “tyranny of government.” He says his son Buford – or “Bucky” as he’s known – is part of the Black Snake Militia, and they just want freedom.

“They do not have nothing to fear from any of us,” Rogers said. “We are patriots.”

They’re also afraid the government will implant everyone with a microchip. But, he says that’s very different from plotting violence.

“I have no idea who the hell he’d even be targeting,” he said. “He’s not that kind of a person. I guarantee you that.”

But the FBI disagrees. On Friday, they raided the home Bucky Rogers shares with his parents and found Molotov cocktails, suspected pipe bombs and guns.

Neighbors watched the whole thing in disbelief. Dustin Rathbun says it was like a scene out of a movie.

“All of the sudden I hear, ‘This is the FBI. Come out the of trailer…with your hands up,’” Rathbun said.

Neighbor Alfredo Fuentes Jr. says the illegal materials found in Rogers’ home could have put the neighborhood in danger,

“It’s kind of scary for the neighbors, though. If that house got on fire, it’s gonna throw the neighborhood,” Fuentes Jr. said.

Rogers wasn’t arrested for terrorism or conspiracy, but rather for illegally possessing a gun. Because of a 2011 felony burglary conviction, he’s not allowed to have a gun. But investigators found an assault rifle in their search and say Rogers admitted to using it recently at a gun range.

Sheriff Stacy Tufto says the bombs are the main issue.

“There’d have to be a reason for the bombs,” Tufto said. “That’s all I can say.”

Local and federal law enforcement are being tight-lipped about how they learned about Rogers or his alleged plans. But some of Rogers’ Facebook postings from 2011 show his apparent disdain for the government.

“the war is here tsa agents are doing random cheeks and shooting people for no reson,” Buford wrote. “Ever one better get your guns ready cuz there comeing FEMA.”

But Jeff Rogers is steadfast about his son.

“Bucky is not a terrorist,” he said.

Rogers also told WCCO that the guns found in the search belong to him – not his son.

Here we go - the Left found a rural white guy with some guns who doesn’t like the Government.

Doesn’t matter if he made any threats whatsoever - the “threat” from him will be manufactured out of whole cloth.

FINALLY, the elusive “right wing” terrorist has be found, though he hasn’t committed any actual acts of terror and didn’t seem to have any concrete plans.

Can the capture of a live Sasquatch and Loch Ness monster be far off?

Rogers [the father] also told WCCO that the guns found in the search belong to him – not his son.

I suppose you are correct, that this is the kind of the guy the Leftward Statists have been desperately trying to find - pale skin member of local militia ... But sounds like B.S. charges to me.

If they’re gonna come after everyone who’s armed & doesn’t trust the government they’re gonna have their hands very full.

So......

What reason would he have for possession of Molotov Cocktails and “suspected pipe bombs?”

"Sheriff Stacy Tufto says the bombs are the main issue. "

A hazzard for SWAT vehicles.

The media sure made a lot of noise when Obama “saved us” with the Hutaree raid and arrest.

That same media was very quiet about the Hutaree being acquitted and released.

A terrorist named Bucky who wants to blow-up a tiny Minnesota town named after the capital of Uruguay. Sounds like a plot line from Twin Peaks.

Not trusting the government is an honored American tradition.

Distrusting the government is the uniquely American birthright bequeathed to us by the founding fathers.

If those in government don’t like that fact I strongly suggest that they seek other employment.

I love the government and lost all of my guns in a tragic canoe mishap last summer. So I’m in the clear!

Hopefully you remembered to register your pipe bombs though.

How does one store a Molotov cocktail?
What precisely are suspected pipe bombs?

Anything to get Benghazi and Muslim terrorists off the front page.
This is a patently transparent hoax. Is this the best the FBI can do? I know lots of guys with bottles and gas cans. Some even have pvc. As a felon if he did not have the firearm he apparently would not have been arrested.

This story led last night on ABC, knocking out the return of the three kidnapped girls.

Home grown “terrorists” with guns is manna to the Libs.

A bunch of empty beer bottles and some plumbing supplies and BOOM... Instant “terrorist”.

I did it the other day when I got gas for the weed eater. The cap on the spout is missing off my half gallon can so I poked a rag into it to prevent it from sloshing out in my van.

After a fireworks factory explosion in Michigan some years ago, the FBI found “bomb making materials” in a truck nearby.

It turned out to be a gas can, bic lighter, and some shotgun shells in a pickup truck parked along the road where a guy got out to go hunting.
