Obama officials to decide release of UMass data

The Obama administration will decide “in the coming days” whether taxpayers have a right to know if they helped fund the UMass education of four suspects linked to the Boston Marathon bombing investigation, the Herald has learned.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth — which has stonewalled requests for the financial aid records of terror suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and three students accused of covering up for him — requested an “exception” to federal law from the U.S. Department of Education on Friday.

“We are reviewing the letter and expect to have a reply in the coming days,” U.S. Department of Education spokesman Jim Bradshaw told the Herald.

Don’t see what difference it makes, really, after all, they were government patsies...probably had no idea they were wanted until their faces showed up on national television. Just another false flag.

The big thing here...is that it’s always secret...when we spend government money on anything...even college students.

How do state education records have anything to do with the obama administration?

Bunk. FERPA (the Family Educational Records Protection Act) is supposed to apply here. But it’s meaningless. (There has never been a university which was punished for releasing student information without permission.)

Duke University released student information to Nifong
in order to help him find students who he could charge (falsely) with rape, so that the local community wouldn’t riot and burn Duke. (someone had to be arrested, so pick three...)
It then lied about having given him that info, in a court process that was a charade. The DOE didn’t care; the defendants there were non-PC.

Now the DOE is wringing its hands over whether or not to permit the release of how much government (”our”) money was used to support budding terrorists. And whether we have the “right to know”.

My guess is that they will decide we don’t have any right to know. End of story.

(How dare simple citizens want to know?)

The DOE, like FERPA, is a joke.

What do you think would happen if Sparky's records were obtained?

They weren’t “government patsies,” they were jihadis. But I guess you probably think George Bush was radio controlling the planes that flew into the WTC, too.

Í’m sure we’ve been supporting all of them and paying for their expensive educations since the day the little sweeties arrived here.

The fact that the Obama Administration has to “review” the release of this information should have the press screaming and pounding at the gates of the WH - but of course it won’t.

Well, livius, I certainly NEVER would have believed the government had anything to do with 9/11, in any regard...but can you still say the same about what the government is and is not capable of...considering Benghazi.

Sorry, but I no longer believe a word out of the mouth of the government of either party, nor the media. Clearly, they are capable of ANYTHING. The Feds told us the backpacks were black, then demanded that we view ONLY the video of the two men THEY deemed suspects...one of whom, in same FBI video, was carrying a WHITE backpack. Even in the tiniest of examples, they lied from the get go... it’s not rocket science.
