Federal education officials today told UMass Dartmouth they cannot release academic and financial records of alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, according to a letter received by the Herald.

"From the limited information you provided, it appears that the academic and financial records that have been requested would be protected by FERPA, and that the University may not release them without the consent of the student," wrote Dale King, director of the Family Policy Compliance Office for the U.S. Department of Education.

Obama Feds, remember.

The only reason they are NOT choosing to release those records is that the public would be incensed reading how many classes the perp dropped, grades "earned," and what all anti-American subjects UMASS offers for would-be terrorists to gain intelligence, taught by oh "Bill Ayers-type experts" and lastly, how much of the State's tax dollars the perp got to attend the school

“data privacy”: the catchall bureacrats everywhere most often use to hide behind to avoid disclosing the BS taxpayers are funding.

Now it’s obvious that the feds don’t want us to know the truth. That’s OK. We have a good idea what it is.

How is it that none of the newspapers have filed a lawsuit to compel the release of the records?
It seems that they have a compelling interest in seeing all sorts of personal information like divorce records when it suits a political agenda.

Wait a minute, what are in college records anyway.

I mean Barry has had his records sealed at all of his colleges. I always assume that was because he was admitted as a foreign national and listed as Muslim for his religion.

I wonder what the college records of these terrorists contain that scares the administration. A scholarship paid for by the Saudi government? Hard to say what is there until it is released.

$20,000 he reportedly still owes UMass

If your or my kids get a dime behind, you can be sure the univeristy would send a warning of expulsion. Tamerlan got Pell Grants so Dzhokhar probably did, too. I bet he got other scholarships besides the city one for being the first generation, immigrant, minority, low income, ESL, etc. Then there are stipends for being on campus and staying in the dorm. There are also other government grants from his FAFSA and a Stafford Loan with 0% interest that will most likely have to be forgiven since he won't have any means to repay it. So, thanks, taxpayers!

Good point. Liz “Fauxcahontas” Warren’s daughter (affiliated with a Soros organization) was provided access to the state welfare recipient list, enabling her to contact them directly. Where was the concern about privacy in regard to that matter? Right to privacy is a highly flexible concept when living under single party rule. The fifth column media is predictably disinterested in exposing the marxist enablers of this terrorist/”student”.

No possibility of getting behind because mine are required to pay every red cent they owe BEFORE being permitted to even register for classes each semester. Hard working Americans have to pony up the $$ to subsidize terrorist welfare leaches and deadbeats. Isn’t diversity wonderful?/S

Interesting, then why did Mass Bay Community College and Bunkerhill Community College release all of the dead terrorist’s information?

What is wrong with these people? These terrorists killed and maimed hundreds of people. Release all the facts!!!

This sh*t MUST STOP!!!!

We, the taxpayers, pay their salaries, pay the giveaways they give out to the non-deserving and they tell us to shut up and "mind our own business," they'll tell us what we get to know or not know!

Once again, the federal government does not want John Q./Jane Q. Public to know about these Jihadists.

But, boy oh boy, a kid in a theater gunning down folks, we found out real quick! A kid gunning down kids in CT, we found out real quick, too.

I don’t believe this one, at all.

This is one screwed up country when a Muslim terrorist bomber has more rights to privacy, and more rights overall than those of us who were actually born and raised here.

Adding insult to injury, our dumbass government also paid hi tens of thousands of dollars in welfare, food stamps and other "assistance" while this a$$hole lived here and planned his attacks too!!! Makes me wonder how many other muzzles there are here doing the exact same thing, right under our noses, with the government giving them OUR hard earned tax dollars to boot!!!

Maybe they didn’t try to hide behind FERPA because he’s dead? Or maybe they released the info precipitously before the party line was established?

“What is wrong with these people? These terrorists killed and maimed hundreds of people. Release all the facts!!!”

Agree. What’s the worst that could happen - the terrorist might sue?

There an enormous a$$-covering scramble going on. mini-me got the feds involved to put a few degrees of separation between this issue and his presidential aspirations. His depraved beneficence toward criminaliens, terrorists and deadbeats in general isn’t exactly a great selling point.

Remember, no school, NOT ONE, has ever been punished
for releasing FERPA information.

The ONLY punishment for violating FERPA is that the feds may cut off some or all of the federal funds a school receives.

Usually that would be research money.

So, it never gets cut off.

And no student is allowed to sue for violation of FERPA.

So FERPA is a paper tiger.

Except that it is often used as an excuse to cover up
all kinds of mischief.

“Remember, no school, NOT ONE, has ever been punished
for releasing FERPA information.”

And to beat a dead horse, that includes Duke university,
which gave private student info to Nifong to help him
find students to charge with rape (falsely); and then
lied to the court about it afterwards.

As far as the Dept. of Education was concerned, so what?
