Pelosi: If Boehner were a woman he'd be considered weakest speaker in history By Daniel Strauss - 05/14/13 07:32 AM ET
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would be considered a weak speaker if he were a woman, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said. "Well, I will say this about John Boehner and I have a good relationship if he were a woman, they would be calling him the weakest speaker in history," Pelosi said during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes.
Hayes then asked Pelosi to elaborate.
"Well because they never get anything done," Pelosi said. "Where are the results? They've never been able to pass anything without our coming to the rescue except their very and, in my view, unprincipled budgets."
Pelosi added that she's tired of the double standard.
"So when people ask me I think: you know what, if a woman were speaker and nothing was happening in this way, they'd say 'oh my gosh,'" Pelosi said. "I'm just getting a little, shall we say, tired of the way they take a pass on some but not on others. We get a criticized for accomplishing things. They don't get criticized for not accomplishing things."

I don't equate passing bills with being a strong Speaker. I would take the opposite position. The ability to prevent sweeping legislation, like a horrible gun control or immigration bill, is the mark of strength. Most of what Congress does is harmful, so I'm happy when they do little. Nancy pushed through a pathetic health care bill - and did great harm.

Really?
I determined that Boehner is a weak sister a long time ago!
That was why I was calling for his ouster as Weeper of the House LAST YEAR!

She may have been one of the worst, but she certainly was not the weakest or even very weak. She managed some of the biggest costly bills in US history including the passage of Obamacare. That's for sure.

Well given my druthers I will take a do nothing Speaker that does little damage than a strong Speaker that achieves her goals and does enormous damage to the Republic.
Having said that I would prefer that Boehner get busy trying to rectify some of what Pelosi wrought but in his defense it would be nearly impossible with Husain having a veto pen at the ready to defend Pelosis disaster.

Ms. Pelosi is wrong (again). Being a man or a woman has nothing to do with it. Boehner is, in my opinion the weakest and worstest Speaker in history. Or at least in my lifetime.

Nancy & I finally agree on something. Yup. What about Hastert? I remember him being useless too.

“What doe she mean if Boehner was a woman?”
What she means is that since boehner is a man, his level of weakness has, to date, never been attained.

What about Hastert? I remember him being useless too.
Hastert did manage a lot of arm twisting to get Bush's Medicare prescription bill passed. Hastert called for a 15-minute vote. He had 3 or 4 hold outs on the Pubbie side. He delayed calling the vote for nearly 3 hours of backroom 'discussions' to convert the hold outs and get the billed passed.

"Well because they never get anything done," Pelosi said"Boehner is leader of one half of one third of the federal government. Leading Republicans in the House is like herding cats. Yet, he has blocked much of Obama's second term agenda. I see that as a mark of good leadership, not bad. Getting nothing done is the best anyone can expect. Any bill that he could pass that would be also approved by the Senate and signed by Obama would be bad, not good.

There is a difference between Weakest and Worst.
Nancy was undoubtedly the worst. But she wasn’t weak.
She got through the worst Bill in the history of America with Obama care and even she didn’t read it. She signed onto Obama Presidency by saying he was legitimate which was and is a lie.
She was the worst in that way, but she wasn’t weak. In fact she is still stronger than Bonehead.
