German Family Denied Asylum, HSLDA Appeals
HSLDA ^ | May 14, 2013 | HSLDA

Posted on 05/14/2013 10:24:56 AM PDT by Sopater

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals today upheld the Obama Administration’s denial of asylum granted to the Romeike family.

The Romeikes fled Germany in 2008 when they were subjected to criminal prosecution for homeschooling. They were granted asylum in 2010 by Immigration Judge Lawrence O. Burman, but that grant was overturned by the Board of Immigration Appeals in 2012. A three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit heard the Romeikes’ appeal on April 23 in Cincinnati, and issued today’s unanimous decision against the family.

“We believe the Sixth Circuit is wrong, and we will appeal their decision,” said Michael Farris, HSLDA founder and chairman. “America has room for this family, and we will do everything we can to help them.”

The court said that the Romeikes had not made a sufficient case, and that the United States has not opened its doors to every victim of unfair treatment. Although the court acknowledged that the U.S. Constitution recognizes the rights of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children, it refused to concede that the harsh treatment of religiously and philosophically motivated homeschoolers in Germany amounts to persecution within our laws on asylum.

“Germany continues to persecute homeschoolers,” said Mike Donnelly, HSLDA director of international affairs. “The court ignored mountains of evidence that homeschoolers are harshly fined and that custody of their children is gravely threatened—something most people would call persecution. This is what the Romeikes will suffer if they are sent back to Germany.”

HSLDA will appeal the Sixth Circuit’s ruling. Please continue to keep the Romeike family and HSLDA’s litigation team in your thoughts and prayers.

Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is a 30-year-old, 85,000 member non-profit organization and the preeminent national association advocating the legal right of parents to homeschool their children.

They should have just walked across the border with Mexico.

Or said they were from Chechnya.

(Some immigrants get to stay here. Some—like those pesky
Christians—don’t.)

I’m told that the whole reason that they are in this pickle is because they followed legal immigration protocol in the first place. I guess this just shows that it truly is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

Tsk tsk...They are doing it ALL wrong! All they had to do is claim Islamic terrorist status and have two countries to vouch for their terrorism, then they could have easily gotten in and with $100k in welfare to boot!

Unlike regular terrorists and gang-bangers these people are dangerous dissidents. No place for political criminals in USSA.

Frankly, I agree with the court.

It is bad enough we don’t craft our immigration policy to fit OUR needs. The last thing we need is to grant asylum to people who object to the rules and laws of their country. All of China and Eastern Asia would be lined up.

This isn’t OUR battle — we have a tough enough time protecting Homeschoolers in America.

The father is a highly skilled concert pianist teacher....

Nooo, we don’t need people who are highly skilled and capable, we need people who are poorly educated and who will reliably pull the lever for the Democrap party...

Why accept highly motivated highly skilled people into the country..... When you can import morons who are nothing but lever pullers who will breed more generations of lever pullers...

Yes——can’t have people who teach concepts of individualism-—self-reliance —on God, not the State. Children not forced into “Group Think” institutions are extremely dangerous-—they become the Lincolns/Churchills/Pattons.

Have to erase the ideology which created the Age of Reason and the USA as Founded-—that human beings are designed to be their own masters under God.

German schools were the first to implement mass indoctrination techniques-—the Prussian System of education that Pastor Bonhoeffer’s mother so hated-—and refused to allow her children to enter until after the age of Reason (7).

We need more people who will object to their country’s ungodly laws.

It's not just these people. If a court rules that denial of the right to homeschool is "persecution," then, by law, anyone in the world denied the right to homeschool has an absolute legal right to immigrate to the U.S.

German schools are mass indoctrination system-—no different than Lenin’s system where human beings are controlled by the State and assigned to “schools” at a young age.

Their system is designed to remove children from parents and make them slaves of the state-—indoctrinate the children and de-Christianize them-—to create non-thinking workers for the state, conditioned into slavery.

It is the communist system......we are trying to set up that same system with Common Core——it is evil. We should always fight evil and give refuge to those who want freedom and teach their children the ideals that Founded this Nation.

Those German children will think like the Mark Twains-—the Lincolns-—the George Pattons——Freedom demands those type of people....not the mindset of children programmed from cradle to grave-—like in Germany and like in American Public Schools from Jimmy Carters DOE America where children learn dependence and the correct “feelings” (fuzzy/tree huggers/worship mother Earth, Pride in sodomy) for the Marxist (anti-Christian/independent) ideology.

IN THE MEANTIME, they should get one of those Congressmen in Washington to introduce a Congressional Bill granting them citizenship.

Congress has that authority and it has been done before - OFTEN - with other people.

It would trump the actions of the anti-white, anti-Christian Muslim lapdog polluting the oval office with his droppings.

It also helps sets the precedent to persecute citizen homeschoolers IN the United States....

since most of those in DC are pro amnesty thus implying there is plenty of room in the USA for illegal alien Mexicans, this denial for a German family to stay here has to be based on racism

Our immigration policy, thanks to Ted Kennedy, is not just tilted toward third world human debris but has been destroyed to the point of rejecting those who could contribute to our country.

While the dems/rinos fight for the illegal vote, we are on the sidelines funding the teat suckers all the while watching those who are willing to contribute rejected.
