ATLANTA - A federal grand jury has indicted state Rep. Tyrone Brooks (D-Atlanta) on charges that he misappropriated almost $1 million in charitable funds.

Brooks, 67, was charged by a federal grand jury in a 30-count indictment that includes charges of mail, wire and tax fraud.

The indictment charges that Brooks misappropriated charitable funds from Universal Humanities, a charity he founded in 1990, and the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, according to a release from U.S. attorney Sally Yates.

"Mr. Brooks exploited two charitable organizations for his own personal financial gain which came at the expense of the intended beneficiaries of the charitable donations. IRS Criminal Investigation is committed to investigating individuals who use charitable organizations for their personal gain," said Veronica Hyman-Pillot, Special Agent in Charge, IRS Criminal Investigation in a statement. "Mr. Brooks defrauded not only the donors but also the American taxpayer by evading his tax obligations. Tax compliance should and must be equally shared among all Americans."

The indictment alleges that Brooks solicited contributions from individuals and corporate donors to combat illiteracy and fund other charitable causes, but then used the money to pay personal expenses for himself and his family. The charges allegedly occurred from the mid-1990s through 2012. . .

He was merely early in taking his reparations, no crime in that.

WOW! Thanks for #13. Brooks should be swinging from a streetlamp with every other politico-criminal shaking down companies or looting the U.S.A.

BTTT!

I was trying to figure out why the (D) showed up in the first sentence, then I saw it was from fox as opposed to all other sources.

About damn time. This a$$hole has been trying to steal our money and our rights far too long. It is a positive pleasure to see him indicted, and it would be an even greater pleasure to see him convicted and sent to jail. He libeled our gun rights gour back in the ‘90’s calling us racists because we testified against gun control. Gun control being built into the DNA of democrats, I suppose he thought that because most blacks are democrats (only 95%) this was some sort of racist expression, OTO he may be just a corrupt lying thieving a$$hole. I choose B.

No. I'm pretty sure they don't. They are thinking "He's being picked on because he's black." that's the mentality they were taught, and that's the mentality they're confortable with. Most of his supporters would do exactly what he did if they had the opportunity, and see nothing wrong with stealing. Most of his entitlement mentality voters see material goods in two ways: What they have that belongs to them and what everyone else has that belongs to them, but that they haven't been able to take yet.

Yea, the cracker man is trying t keep him and the rest of Holder's People down. That's what I was trying to say in my lame Twain N-Jim dialect. The black folks in Atlanta/Fulton/Dekalb/Clayton counties seem to have not figured out that they run the place now and have for quite a while.

Tyrone ain't gonna worry about the charges against him, he is too busy trying to find those responsible for some 1946 lynching at someplace somewhere.
