"Face it, anyone who is fixing other peoples toilets settled because they couldn't hack it at a higher level."

Sometimes but not always.

I'm not fixing toilets, but I wouldn't particularly mind. I hacked it at higher level education for many years and loved it, even the pressure, which in itself was educational and taught me discipline, but I got tired of the pressures of being a doctor after a while and decided to do something with a wide margin of error and in which mistakes could be fairly easily corrected. Maybe this is not being able to hack it, but I was able to hack it for a long time; I just got tired of hacking it and quit.

Sounds to me as though you think you know what is best for everyone in the world.

Have at it.

One additional point - wisdom doesn’t always mean (a) college degrees (in fact, Piled Higher and Deeper can be used for PhD, I grew up with all academics around in university towns so I have a lot of personal experience about people who know more and more about less and less and are 90% hardcore leftist arrogant commies) or (b) tons of technical knowledsge. Wisdom and character are infinitely of more value than any kind of technical knowledge, degrees, or skills. Those who have native intelligence and good character who thus take personal responsibility can do more good to the world no matter their education level or high paying professional positions they may or may not hold.

I missed that reply you made. A few years ago I used to find lists of the few private universities or colleges that were not staffed by hardcore leftists and the list was short. Parents need to be aware when they send their 17 and 18 year olds off to college that John and Jane may come back as rabid environmentalists, communists, feminazis or faggots.

The Savage Beast say: Little Jeremiah speak mouthful!

You got me all right.

Talk about wisdom--you got it, Little J.

And I'm gonna shut up.

Please don’t make fun of me - I’m just a hardcore person who grew up in academia with academic family relatives on both sides going back generations and drank the bitter arrogance of elitist lefitsm with my finfant ormula....had to escape early on and be a black sheep utterly rejected by family to learn a couple things after a few decades.

I wasn't making fun of you, Little J. I was dead serious. And speaking with admiration.

Honest Injun...uh... (...are we allowed to say that...?)

ROTFLOL! I was just whining for fun.

BTW I got my GED at age 40 to please my old ma.

I will admit I got all questions on all the tests right, except for of course, math, always my very weakest point. So I’m a high level GED test passer - do I get a gold star?

More ROTFLOL....

College degrees are a good investment and should be sought after

What a crock of sh*t.

Most college "degrees" have negative value. Somebody smart enough to go to a real college who learns a trade and opens his own business by age 22-23 can be rich by the time he's 30.

Typical total expenses for a four-year degree is about $85,000. Put that in a bank at age 18, add $100 per month for 50 years. End up with a $500,000 plus at age 68.

GOLD STAR FOR YOU!

BTW--Oprah got a college degree just to please her father after she had already become a billionaire.

BTWA-- The people who post here on FR tend to be highly intelligent and well educated (formally or otherwise) and to think for themselves--in contrast to the groupthink morons of Leftist America. It drives the decadent Leftist "intelligentsia" nuts; they are far less intelligent and less sophisticated--and far less open minded--than the average Freeper--and they know it.
