Shotgun executive taken into custody at Colo. gun show on cabbie terror tip
http://www.examiner.com ^ | may 19, 2013 | David Codrea

Posted on 05/20/2013 3:16:21 AM PDT by lowbridge

Daniele Perazzi, president of the Italian Perazzi Shotguns firm, was taken into custody yesterday by Adams County Deputies [see update, below] along with several prototype shotguns. The executive was picked up in the parking lot of the Denver Merchandise Mart, hosting the high-end Colorado Gun Collectors show this weekend, after a taxi driver, likely reacting to a suspicious activity reporting outreach program conducted by law enforcement, told authorities he thought he could be transporting an armed “foreign speaking” terror suspect.

“He loaded prototype shotguns into the cab on the way to the Merchandise Mart,” gun rights activist and newly-elected National Rifle Association Director Steve Schreiner, who is attending the event this weekend, told Gun Rights Examiner this morning. “The cab driver notified law enforcement he suspected he had a terrorist in his cab, and they were waiting to intercept him, evidently oblivious to the fact that he was arriving at a highly-publicized area gun show.

“He has two lawyers, Schreiner continued, “one of whom went to the police station, and convinced the police that the owner of one of the most expensive shotgun companies in the world was not a terrorist.

Perazzi was released a short time later and his prototype shotguns were returned to him, but reports have emerged that he was ordered by law enforcement to leave the state by nightfall, and sources tell Gun Rights Examiner he has gone one step further and left the country. He is expected to be returning soon with an eye toward filing legal action.

Gun Rights Examiner also spoke this morning with one of the two attorneys involved with helping Perazzi straighten matters out to obtain his release.

Well, that’s what you get whenTotalitarian Statists win elections.

We understand that Colorado has been overrun with Big-Government loving refugees from the gulag that used to be the great state of California, but we all need to do a better job of explaining to them why their state became a soviet socialist prison that compelled them to leave in the first place.

This is Bull-&@it!! They knew what they were doing. Harassment of traditional values. State of Colorado getting back at gun owners-shooters for the bad press they have received for passing ass-h&le laws, forcing Mag-Pul to leave.

It is time to do everything possible to hurt the Colorado economy and tell them why. The left excels at this. The right must do the same. Reward your friends and punish your enemies.

Actually, the Denver and Boulder area are infested with Muslims. It is believed there is a pretty active terror cell in the Denver area. In recent years, a muslim was arrested from the area on his way to carry out an attack in NYC, I believe. He and his dad.

Our son is a 2X All-American in Trap shooting, shoots Perazzi shotguns. I cannot tell you how good this family (and their American importer, Gaicamo) is and has been for shotgun shooting sports. Their guns are works of art. It is sad what America has become.

I don’t understand this.

How did the cab driver become aware that his passenger was transporting shotguns? Did the passenger announce this? High-end shotguns like Perazzis break down and can easily be placed in relatively small cases that would not give away their presence. Why would Mr. Perazzi announce the presence of such a valuable cargo? It just doesn’t make sense.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Rhode

“On September 11, 2008, Rhode’s competition shotgun was stolen from her pickup; she had been using it in competition for eighteen years.[5] The gun was returned to her in January 2009 after it was discovered during an unrelated search of a parolee’s home; the parolee was charged with possession of stolen property.[6] In the meantime fans had donated to buy her a new $13,000 Perazzi shotgun. Having become used to training with the new gun, she elected to retire “Old Faithful” after four Summer Games.[7]

On July 29 at the 2012 London Olympics, Rhode won the gold medal in skeet shooting with an Olympic record score of 99, tying the world record in this event.[8] With this medal, Rhode is the only American competitor to win medals for an individual event in five consecutive Olympics. She also became one of the three competitors (and the only woman) to win three Olympic individual gold medals for shooting, along with Ralf Schumann of Germany and Jin Jong-oh of Korea.”

The cabbie probably asked, as Mr. Perazzi had several cased guns, and Mr. Perazzi probably proudly told him, thinking an American would be excited to talk about his high quality products.

So now anyone can get detained by the cops because a cabbie thinks they might be suspicious. “I dont like the way you look so I am going to drive you to the police station so you can be investigated, searched and interrogated.” Welcome to the police state.

Well, if that's the case than Mr Perazzi is extremely naive for a world traveler. Why would any salesman (and that's what he was doing promoting prototype shotguns at a gun show) announce the presence of a valuable commodity to a stranger?

And what about the cops who responded to the cabbie's call? Man traveling TO an advertised gun show with guns to promote? Seems reasonable to me. Wasn't there anyone at the show who could immediately vouch for him? At that high-end of a shotgun, there must have been someone at the show whom he was meeting. No?

Something continues to be missing here or this guy is simply dumber than a stump.

I have complained for years that Colorado has been irreversibly Californicated. Well, it is now moved even further left. Now it is the testing ground for Obama’s New America.

Sadly I have hunted Colorado for years but would like to find another place. Bad part is I am closer to New Mexico but it is liberal as well, I would like to start going to Wyoming or Montana but the 2 full days extra drive time and cost of fuel preclude that choice.

I've lived in Colorado for over 20 years. I, personally, don't consider denver or most of the eastern slope, as part of Colorado. I reside on the southern western slope and have always enjoyed it.

As in most cases/states, it's the large urban areas that give a state a bad name.

Now, I will have shotgun envy all day.

Another dark side of gun registering is having items like this listed in a public office. Then a crooked employee can sell that data to break in thugs.
