GRAPEVINE, TX - Family Research Council (FRC) expressed deep disappointment at the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for changing their long-standing position today on membership regarding open homosexuality within the Scouts.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments:

"Sadly, the Boy Scouts' legacy of producing great leaders has become yet another casualty of moral compromise. Unfortunately, Boy Scout delegates capitulated to strong-arm tactics and abandoned the timeless values that have served the organization well for more than 100 years.

"The delegates succumbed to a concerted and manipulative effort by the national BSA leadership despite the BSA's own survey showing 61 percent of its members in opposition to changing the policy.

Military suffers wave of 'gay' sex assaults

A recent military report on sexual assault in the military shocked many in Washington and around the nation, but a leading expert on military personnel revealed the prevalence of men assaulting other men is one of the major headlines in this study.

The extended analysis of the report first appeared in Monday’s edition of the the Washington Times.

The Defense Department survey of sexual assault in the military during fiscal 2012 estimated 26,000 assaults took place in the armed forces. Nearly 3,000 of them were formally reported. Just more than 6 percent of women reported being victims of assault and 1.2 percent of men said the same. Given the much larger number of men in the military, those numbers suggest 14,000 of the assaults in the Pentagon study happened to men.

Among the assaults formally reported, 88 percent of reports came from women and 12 percent from men. The numbers are getting dramatically worse.

“The number of reports of sexual assaults among military personnel have actually increased by 129 percent since 2004,” said Center for Military Readiness President Elaine Donnelly, who pointed out the number of formal reports of sexual assault jumped from 1,275 to 2,949 in just eight years.

She told WND when factoring in civilians working for or around the military, the increase in that time is 98 percent.

Women are identified as the attacker in just two percent of all assaults, meaning most men who suffer assault are targeted by other men.

“So we’ve got a male-on-male problem here. The Department of Defense doesn’t want to comment on this. They know that the numbers are there. They say that they care, but all the attention is usually given to the female members of the military who are subjected to sexual assault,” Donnelly said.

The Washington Times article also includes analysis from Aaron Belkin, who heads The Palm Center. He said the rise in male-on-male sexual assault does not reflect the increase of homosexuals in the military but, rather, those assaults are ”somewhat similar to prison rape.”

“Well, that’s a great slogan to use for recruiting young men into the military, isn’t it? It’s outrageous. And yet, the Department of Defense doesn’t quite know what to do with these figures, and so they just sort of put them in there and hope nobody notices,” said Donnelly, who points out The Palm Center is a homosexual activist organization.

In the meantime, we will stand with those BSA Councils who will now act to protect boys from a new policy that only creates moral confusion and disrespects the views of the vast majority of Scouting parents," concluded Perkins.

Not sure what that means. It sounds as if Perkins believes there is a way for some scout councils to not implement the new policy, or some way to neutralize its impact. By most accounts its a policy change that all troops must follow and there is no ongoing opportunity to change it.

I think it’s healthy for the gay scouts to get a moral upbringing from the organization, so I support the organization accepting them. There’s a lot more to life than sexuality. They will learn valuable life skills and their own strengths and weaknesses will be tested in a number of situations throughout the program. Our cub scout troop had a gay den leader, a very fine person. She was a much more responsible and moral person than half the parents who sent their spoiled, socially inept kids to be babysat once a week.

Actually, he wouldn’t say a word about the vote. Obviously, his job is on the line if he doesn’t toe the queer agenda.

"While people have different opinions about this policy, we can all agree that kids are better off when they are in Scouting. Going forward, our Scouting family will continue to focus on reaching and serving youth in order to help them grow into good, strong citizens. What a crock! What kinds of young men are going to be turned out by the queers, anyway?

"Reports are that BSA has asked hotel staff to confiscate any literature or leaflets that are not approved by BSA’s top leadership—
meaning anything that disagrees with the proposed change.
These leaders organized an “informational” meeting for the voting delegates, mostly dedicated to persuading delegates to change BSA’s longstanding policy.
This becomes all the more interesting since all three of Texas’ most prominent statewide leaders—Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. John Cornyn, and Sen. Ted Cruz—have openly encouraged the Scouts to maintain the current policy.

As an example of the muzzling tactics in play,
one supporter of the traditional policy went to the FedEx shop in the Gaylord to print copies of the Dallas Morning News ad presenting the reasons for maintaining the current policy.
This was to counter the USA Today op-ed from BSA’s Chief Scout Executive Wayne Perry—
leading the effort to change the current policy—that was distributed in the hotel.

The traditional policy supporter was suddenly confronted by Daron Smith, the PR Director for BSA, accompanied by two hotel security guards with earpieces and handheld radios,
who told him he would not be allowed to distribute the literature within the hotel.
It also seems that outside literature was not allowed from the other side, either,
but such literature would seem unnecessary after the USA Today piece.

When confronted, the FedEx manager admitted that when he saw the handouts being printed in the shop
that he contacted the hotel to tip off BSA staff so they could respond.

It’s also being reported by those onsite that media reporters are not being allowed inside the Gaylord.
Anyone familiar with how lobbying works knows it should raise eyebrows
when people don't allow reporters or cameras to cover events on the ground."

So Pro-Homosexual Leaders in the Boy Scouts Of America don't believe in fairness or in free speech.

So, it’s up to the individual troops to hold strong on their moral compass and standards.

I wish this were the way it would be. But you see, now the whole organization is tainted. Earning an Eagle will never be the same. Now Boy's Life magazine and the merit badge booklets and the scout handbook will all include this change. Now, in essence, it is as if the following scenario played out:

Hi, I am a thief and I want to be a boy scout and join your troop.

Well, I am sorry, but you cannot join our troop unless you promise to stop stealing. You must say an oath in which you promise to be "morally straight".

Oh no, you can't refuse me because the National Council says you must admit all boys regardless of their lifestyle choices.

The Boy Scout of America were offered a choice by our government. Would you like to be destroyed financially or morally? Accepting gay scouts into their ranks was clearly a business decision.
I recall that the California State Legislators threatened to strip the tax exempt status on BSA if they didn't accept gays, thereby forcing them to pay all taxes including property taxes on their camps.

It amazes me how a small segment of society has forced our Government to accept a perverse deviant behavior as protected class of people that can't be discriminated against. You have to ask yourself what is next??

Oh yes they can. This will become their recruitment camp. Did anyone notice the 18 year old girl that was charged with recruiting a 14 year old into a lesbian relationship at school? This will be infinitely better since they sleep in tents and share showers.

My son is a Webelo now, joined Cubs as soon as he was old enough, and really enjoys scouting.
He was looking forward to moving up to Boy Scout next year
He is 10, and I know he doesn’t even know what homosexuality is.
Hoping that all hell breaks loose and the decision is overturned quickly
